IncGamers: Valve On The Counter-Strike 2 Petition

Speaking to IncGamers at the X10 event in San Francisco last week, Chet Faliszek of Valve said he was aware of the petition, but Counter-Strike 2 isn't anything the team are talking about.

Well Valve definitely took notice of the L4D petition, so if we keep shouting loud enough, we might get a response.

Well, that StarCraft 2 LAN petition got 250 thousand signers, and Blizzard still don't care.. :P

They could be working at it and hoping that this petition does the early marketing for them, whipping gamers up into a frenzy of desire and then when they announce it's huge news.

To be honest, I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, I'd love to see a new CS but I don't know how much they can tweak the formula without losing that CS feel. Starting to think an XBLA/PSN release of CS: Source might be the way forward.

cs2 only makes sense after HL3

the peak of gamers playing MW:2 MP on Steam was 108k. the amount of people playing 1.6 and CS:S is 160k. its insane the legs that CS has.

Ok I love Valve, steam, and everything they have made, they are awesome. But WTF are they up to? Please tell me its Source 2.0 with the next HL release.

that's what I would do, the source engine is really outdated, a brand new engine will make alot of ppl more intersted in their upcoming games, although gameplay is what made valve games so popular, having a brand new tech is only going 2 make it better, someone who's new to gaming won't appreciate valve's tech, but keep in mind that when they make a new engine, they'll make a damn good 1, remmember the wow moments from HL2 on PC when it 1st came out?, that may repeat if valve wanted to.

If Valve made any changes to the original Counter Strike formula, which many of you consider perfect and sacrosanct, are you guys more likely to play it or complain that they ruined Counter Strike?

And if you guys want to keep the old formula but play with updated visuals and physics? Well...

there's a certain finesse in cs 1.6 that css loses, something about the hit boxes, the way the characters move, etc.

imo, they should just release counter-strike zero/1.6 for psn and xbla.

As much as I would love a new Counter Strike game it just won't happen, the current two CS games are lasting for years, hell thousands of people still play CS 1.6, would Valve make that much money by making a new CS or would they do better making a new IP is the question.

One thing I would like Valve to do is hurry up and finish HL2:EP3 or at least tell us its become Half Life 3 or something, no news in two years is a bit weird.
