PC Gamers Can "Expect Great Things" From Just Cause 2

Square Enix has revealed the PC version of Just Cause 2 will not simply be a port of the console game.

Squenix community manager Mike Oldman announced the news in a recent tweet :

"Hey! Let's stress: JC2 on PC is absolutely not a port. PC gamers should expect great things. I'll have more news on these things very soon."

"Port" is like a swear word. They are rarely very good.

Interesting to see if he can live up to his words!

darkmurder5188d ago

Not the first time I've heard that you know Codemasters said the same with Operation Flashpoint 2 we all know how well that turned out.

Redrudy5188d ago

yeah Op Flash wasn't fun to command on PC.

evrfighter5188d ago

maybe we'll get custom video options and an ingame chat feature

Fyzzu5188d ago

So, what, exclusive PC stuff? Video editing, maybe -or is that coming to console anyway?

bunfighterii5188d ago

PS3 has a video record feature but I don't know about editing. Apparently it records the last 30 seconds of gameplay for when you do something fully sick, then you can upload that to youtube.

Personally I think this game will f***ing rock. This and Red Dead Redemption are my two most anticipated titles this year.

I'm envious of PC gamers for this one, because I know there'll eventually be numerous wicked mods for this game.

AndyA5188d ago

There's really no reason for the PC version not to have the video editor.

Raf1k15188d ago

It seems this game and Red Dead Redemption are being overlooked by a lot of people probably because of all the other great high profile games coming out.

thetamer5188d ago

I'll look forward to this, it looks awesome, but I don't have aPC!

champ215188d ago

how are you surfing the web then? or typing this post?

if its anything like a dual core system from 3 years back, then all it needs is a 150usd gpu upgrade and it will outperform any console.

While being cheaper game for game.

bunfighterii5188d ago

Hey so question: I got this PC, it's kinda old, it was good in about 2005-6.

I dunno what graphics card it has, but what I know about it is its got Dual AMD 64 2ghz processor and 3583MB of Ram.

What do I need to upgrade to make it a decent gaming machine?

Letros5188d ago (Edited 5188d ago )

I would say with your CPU you could go with a Radeon 4870/5770 for maximum gains. Would be nice if you could bump up the clock a bit though, not hard to do =) What resolution do you plan on playing on as well?

champ215188d ago

dual core is a good cpu, you might wanna have the mhz bumped to about 2.5ghz and as letros said you could go for a 4870 or a gtx 275 both will cost you around 150usd. (4870 being cheaper).

Both of these gpus will play games @ 1080p not a problem, even 2560*1600(thats 3x the current console hd standard) for most games wont be a problem.

over time over few games bought you will recover the money for the gpu.

A little example for you, i have 3 other friends i buy games with. We buy over steam. We bought l4d2, borderlands & bioshock as a 4 pack.

Each game cost us 33usd compared to 60 on the console.

33* 3 = 99usd for 3 games
60* 3 = 180usd for 3 games on consoles.

each of us saved 80usd just over 3 games compared to buying it on console. while the quality was superior. great deal imo ;-)

Even if you dont have friends playing on pc games on pc are still 10-15usd cheaper then console counterparts and you dont have worry about performance issues or backward compatibility issues once the gen ends.

Didn't IW claim that MW2 PC version wasn't a port before it came out? Well, it got released and we all know how that turned out.

As for this game, I'll believe it when I see it. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a port with, maybe a couple of added features.

Letros5188d ago

There was nothing wrong with MWF2 aside from the lack of dedicated servers. It played very well offline.

But IW's "additional PC features" were M/KB support and higher resolutions, lol....

Overmars5188d ago

The singleplayer wasn't bad, but it was far from what I had expected, but I won't go into detail on that.

Anyway, the PC version had nothing to differentiate it from console versions, in terms of graphics and gameplay features. This, after 'FourZeroTwoFace' commented on how it was more than just a lazy port.

IW has twisted my view of multiplat developers foever. Their PR can say whatever they want. I don't believe squat until I get to see it for myself.

champ215188d ago

my friend who was a hardcore 360 gamer now a pcgamer mostly, converted to pc gaming after he saw mw2 running on pc.

Sure the differences arent much but still the console versions look like a mess compared to the PC version. The differences are much more visible in most games.

micro_invader5188d ago

Well that's nice to know.

I'm really excited for this game.

The Yakuza Games

Haha, yeah, currently over 100 hours into Yakuza 0. Considering going for 100% and well on the way but may not get there. Cat Fights are a real chore.

blackblades487d ago

I use to be a trophy hunter, was getting around 20 to 30 platinums a year. Had a saying of Play-Beat-Platinum, play and enjoy the game like there wasn't no trophies, beat it and at least get 50% then look at them and see if I'll platinum and platinum it. I think death star was a pain, the servers was ending so i had to rush and play that for awhile none stop. NGs2 was hard because of that online trophy but easy if you had the partner that can do it for you while you grab the enemy attention. Grinding idk, death was grinding last one I had to grind for platinum literally 1 trophy needed was dungeon travler or something vita gave up on it. After that I stop trophy hunting get like a 1 platinum a year or 0.

Knushwood Butt487d ago

Yeah, if I enjoy a game I usually go for the platinum unless there are some unreasonable trophies in there.

For Yakuza 0 I've invested too much time in it to give up just yet and most of the content is good fun, apart from Cat Fighting which is broken and dull after a couple of fights.

DarXyde487d ago

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was literally the last platinum I got on PS3. After that, I went into PS4 kinda deflated and getting them where it felt appropriate.

I genuinely HATED that platinum, but it was a personal challenge I took upon myself. It was a lot of "get 1,000 kills with [insert weapon]" and it got to be a bit tedious. Master Ninja really pissed me off, but the WORST which you alluded to was that bloody Gold trophy for missions that you needed to do online because the AI was useless and got wrecked in moments. I jumped on the game a bit late so I struggled with finding a partner for at least 1.5 months. After that, I burned out hard with trophy hunting. I still came back for games I really enjoyed (Bloodborne, Dark Souls III, Nier: Automata, and a few others that escape me) and low hanging fruit that was just a bit time consuming and I didn't want to buy new games at the time (Final Fantasy XV). Total, it becomes clear where I taper off since I've only plat'ed 33 games since there inception of trophies which really isn't much.

Screw Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 lol. That game was pure nightmare fuel.

blackblades487d ago

I say never force getting a platinum, its not worth the trouble definitely if it costing you to waste time on chore like grind. Those brainless design trophies.

hotnickles487d ago

Dead rising was the worst one I’ve ever tried. I haven’t tried it with the modern console “rest mode” but the 360 didn’t have that.

Duke19487d ago (Edited 487d ago )

Was GTa4 the on where you had to collect a shit ton of pigeons around the map and there was no help in finding them?

roadkillers487d ago

Yep. I’d say GTASA was more difficult since there were so many collectibles

Profchaos486d ago

The saving grace was that there was only on average 50 collectables with the two exceptions being graffiti and oysters from memory horseshoes and photos were capped at 50 each.

But for me it was all the other grind that was way more painful in SA like the car export lists which even with guides took way longer than collecting stuff

iivGHOST486d ago

There was a guide book that came out with the game that had all the pigeons in it. I actually still have it

Chocoburger487d ago

One of the more recent games I got a Platinum in was Killzone: Mercenary for Vita. What a crap game, that requires so much terrible grinding.

Awful game, awful experience.

outsider1624486d ago

Oh man..wish i could get a vita. I've been trying to get a preowned too(in my country) but no luck.

CantThinkOfAUsername487d ago

I can vouch for Just Cause 2. It was the reason I quit achievement hunting. 86 hours in, the game bugged on me during one of the last side quests (it failed no matter what I did) and my save file got corrupted. Wiped it off my drive and never looked back.

SonyStyled486d ago

I downloaded the ‘complete edition’ or whatever it was called for $2 about 7yrs ago in hopes of trophy hunting it for a platinum. It always sounded fun and I would like to commit time to it but not enough for a platinum trophy
