Eurogamer writes: "PlatinumGames' space RPG Infinite Space will be released on 26th March.
That's the same developer responsible for Bayonetta and MadWorld.
But Infinite Space is a DS game, one that lets players pilot a ship to the far reaches of two galaxies in ambitious 3D environments."
Space opera fans deserve a chance to experience the vastness of Infinite Space, and Sega needs to make up for its mistake.
I still go back to Infinite Space from time to time. Probably the most underrated game I ever played.
EDGE took a trip down memory lane with some of the staff at Platinum Games in its latest issue.
One of the games discussed was Infinite Space, the studio’s first and only handheld game.
I claim that it should have been a PSP if not a PS3 title.
Wonder if they can port it.
In a storyline-driven genre like role playing, a good setting can end up being a game's most important element.
yeah, having a game about pneumonia but taking place in South America would really get me immersed. :/
This piece mostly deals with RPGs, but has there been any recent setting as good as Rapture?
I honestly can't think of many that were *that* well realized/interesting.
Yep. Half the reason I game is to go to interesting places and do interesting things. Which usually means "kill a lotta things," but still.
The previews I've read, and videos of the game I've seen look pretty bad. Infinite Space seems to be yet another horridly unispired, flat roleplaying game--in the save vein as the hopelessly mediocre Star Ocean 4.
That said, the whole starship angle is immensely appealing to me. The 1980s was pretty much the golden era for science-fiction in Japan. It was the era of VOTOMS, Dougram, Patlabor, Zeta Gundam and, perhaps most pertinently, Legend of the Galactic Heroes. If infinite space can manage to recapture even a fraction of the scale and atmosphere of the epic fleet battles in LoGH, it'll be well-worth the money. The artistic design--the models of the ships--seem to be very similar to the ships in LoGH, which is enough to warrant a first-day buy for myself.
