I actually like that HR used a real city, another plus for QD IMO.

But the title makes it seem like some big secret, that's not a secret, it's just a cool detail he noticed. Misleading titles piss me off.

I thought this would be about an extra hidden scene/chapter in the demo...

BeaArthur5185d ago

That was a waste of 15 seconds. I mean that's a fine nugget but I was expecting something much better than that.

except for the use of R2 to walk. I am so used to just using the left stick for movement that using the R2 threw me off a bit. I think the interaction in the game is impressive. I lost track of the fight between the detective and the thug because I was to busy watching for the input commands. On the next go round I watched more of the fight but messed up on most of the commands.

Damn...I need to build up my eye hand coordination. Playing this game is like watching a movie with subtitles. You can either enjoy the movie and skip the reading or you can read what they are saying and skip the movie.

It goes both ways.

@fishy: thanks for that. I didnt even make any adjustments in the options. I think this game is sweet to play. I especially liked how the action changed so subtly if you missed a command the first time and then hit it the second. Completely diverse in the dynamics of this game.

Dialog was funny at times. I liked asking the cop about his coffee.

Dont get the disagrees. I am not saying anything bad about this demo.

Fishy Fingers5185d ago (Edited 5185d ago )

Try switching the difficulty if your finding it difficult, it doesnt change much other than give you more time with the inputs.

Personally I didnt have a problem as the input seems to be centred around the action, or basically where your eye is drawn to. Example, if he's throwing a punch, the input required is displayed by the fist.

himdeel5185d ago (Edited 5185d ago )

...because I didn't have that much of an issue with the walk button since most games like this have a run button. But until I settled in with the controls I could see your frustration.

The quick time sequences were very good but I didn't really lose myself in them to the point that I missed multiple inputs. Partially because I feel like there was enough time after the input to enjoy the scene play out.

I wont rate the demo but if I had to I'd probably be around your score. The game definitely gave me a sense of what the game is like. In a good way.

snaz275185d ago

i dont know what it is, maybe just cos i have watched so many subtitled films (love world cinema), but i just dont have a problem with it, i never feel i missed any action, nor any story, i even foget im watching a subtitled film, sometimes i turn the volume up! lmao... anyway i loved the demo and i was sucked right in especially during that fight, i was screaming like a girl cos i missed a button! lmao i can only imagine what the rest of the game will be like, bring it on i say... i wish they had put run in tho, my only complaint.

popup5185d ago (Edited 5185d ago )

I thought the R2 to walk, left stick to look made for a nice analogue control combination without the character looking like he had a stiff neck like in so many games.

The walking fitted for me as it added to the realism of the scenes. A pal watching felt like the walking around parts were still just a cut-scene so it obviously works at keeping it all very movie like. It felt like I was almost 'conducting' the game if you know what I mean.

I found myself thinking of Bladerunner for some reason during this game for more than a couple of reasons.

snaz275185d ago

the part where your questioning the prostitute, i was suprised that i could not only change the camera angle while she spoke, but i could also move around too! so i walked up nearby when she was sitting on the bed, it prompted me, to move the analogue down, i did and he leaned against the bed, after a short time she moved, so i got up, and went round the bed, and leaned against the chest of draws... i know that doesnt sound exciting, but it all looked so natural, thats what i found to be so clever! it was really like i was an actor in this movie, and i had even more control over it than just the plot/decisions, to be honest it blow me away, ive never felt that from a game before!

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1259d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1259d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1259d ago (Edited 1259d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1416d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121416d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1417d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121417d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121417d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

Still have my origami crane they teach you how to make when you're installing for the first time.

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
