5 Reasons Why February Will Kick January's Ass

January was pretty good, but this is 2010, the best (expected) year in gaming ever. And while January was good, February will be better. Here's why.

I am not buying DI because I am saving that money for GOW3.

Why is DI not getting any love? I played the demo and I had a blast. Yes, I'll be picking up GoWIII release day, but did no one else enjoy the demo (fun bags aside)?

I would've bought it the day after I played the demo if the game was out(Decemeber sometime I think I played the demo), but now that a lot of games are coming I'm not sure if I'll get it, because I want ff13 and gow3 and heavy rain. It might have to be a rental :(

Let me know how it is. I found the demo (both of them, played the 360 and PS3 version to check for differences) totally uninspired.

And the story was really choppy. I read foreign language novels and stuff like the Illiad, so it's not a comprehension issue, it just wasn't scripted very well. The flesh-stitching and random tit shots seemed gratuitous and the environments were bland. I also didn't find the character very fun to play. He was like a cross between Kratos and Simon Belmont, with none of the charisma of the first nor the finesse of the second.

If you want to see how a 3rd person action hero should move, refer to Kratos, or the extended KP Castlevania MOS trailer (they did a fantastic job with the modelling). Even Bayonetta's spastic strip-tease, while dizzying, had it's own "style". This game and this character don't seem to.

Darksiders proved that you can coin from a favorite (several favorites, actually) and still make it your own. Dante's Inferno feels like it misses the mark in this regard. This is a rental or bargain bin purchase for me. But again, let me know what it's like. I'd rather hear gamers' opinions than the "media", who seem to be totally off the map with their liberal handing out of 10s to everything under the sun and the subsequent roasting of other titles to balance the scales.

Many PS3 owners are incredibly insecure and feel the need to attack any game that threatens one of their exclusives.

It is all very transparent, but they seem to think that nobody can see their true motives.

Here we go again with people that don't think before they type. Did it escape your mind that DI and GoW3 are both coming to the ps3. Many (not all, or even most) "fanboys" from other systems seem to bring up multiplatform games as if they are exclusive, and they do it all the time this generation.

I've never heard anyone say they are worried DI will be better than GoW3. I've never heard anyone that sounds like an intelligent person go so far as to say they think it will be better, because that's incredibly naive (for people unable to play GoW3) or incredibly ignorant (for people that haven't played the previous GoW games). I haven't played DI yet, other than the demo, but I'm sure it will be fun and a pretty good game. GoW3 would be a complete failure if it only lived up to those same standards (most people know it won't stop there). GoW3 was and is the only game released during 2010 that everyone knew would be a GotY contender. (ME2 will be, but most wouldn't have expected it to be as good as it is. Bioshock 2 from what we've seen so far for reviews seems like it will be a contender as well.)

As for this list, if AVP has to be on there, and the list is in a top 5 order. Move AVP to number 5, and it will be a good list. The ME2 thing I agree with if someone hasn't beat it (I have, but still worthy to make the list). AVP may be great (first one was awesome), but so far it doesn't look NEAR as awesome as the first one did before it's release, for the time when it came out.

you really think that's necessary? it goes both ways you know! if you don't trust me, just go into any Quantum Theory article and look all the 360 fanboys downplaying that game while NONE played it yet just because it's a Gears clone or so you guys said it!

360 fanboys really like to talk big about multiplats as they are exclusive! just like when they were touting the better version of Bayonetta yet not so many sold:

Heavy rain and episodic prequels will be nice too sorta branching everyones story on how they became the personalities that they are. Even though in the game it seems like its explained well.

The last time i trusted reviewers was when i bought assasins creed and returned it the same day. Ign is the same site that gave infinite undiscovery a higher score then disgeae 3 which is alot more enjoyable then infinite undiscovery and the voice acting doesnt make you wanna rip your ears off. So right now im 200hours in disgeae 3 and only 10 for infinite undiscovery. I make my own choices i like what i saw i wanted an old school jrpg and thats what wkc is just like lost oddesey.

More power to you. I was debating on checking it out but after seeing the reviews I'll pass. I see what your saying about IGN but they are not the only ones saying that this game is average at best. I don't ever go with one individuals assessment but if everyone is saying the same thing than there is usually something to it. You may like it but without a demo to go off of I'll just have to place my trust in what he critics are saying as a whole.

If I would of listened to reviewers with MAG, I would not of experience the awesome multiplayer game it is...

Just hope you didnt snub AC2 because of the first. I would of regretted doing that. Ac2 was solid.

So far only Gamespot and IGN have really panned it. The other outlets are giving it respectable scores. Eurogamer gave the Japanese version an 8/10, let's see if they pull an about face now.

And reviews shouldn't dictate our taste in games. If it's a "money" issue, you can always rent it or borrow it from a friend to make a decision on a purchase.

Edit: @ Bea. Trust the critics, really? Most of them are gaming enthusiasts/ hobbyists with no journalistic back-ground or training. They're not professionals, not qualified persons. Not to mention the advertising dollars, swag bags and marketing machinations that go on behind these sites for clicks. You can get a better, more accurate review by scouring forums.

Chris399...anyone with an education above 10th grade can put two sentences together, they don't have to be journalists. So what are you saying, you would rather have a literary scholar writing the reviews, someone who isn't a big gaming fan? Or would you just not have reviews at all and take your chances on every game. My $60 is not going to be wasted on some crap game. The review system isn't perfect but I will take it over nothing at all. I want my reviews written by enthusiasts even if it's not the best written article. And please don't give me the "they're biased" or some conspiracy argument about back room deals. I'm not talking about following one reviewer or one site only, but for me the metascore is usually a good gauge of how good the game is or isn't. I mean you sit there and talk about how these people are not professional writers and then tell me to go find a review written by some 12 year old on a forum. I'm sure the tween is a much better source for a break down.

People on the forums are basically the people on IGN. That's my point. One get's paid and has a slightly better sentence structure (sometimes), both are just as polarized and juvenile. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but if you think that review sites aren't motivated by corporations, swag and clicks to keep their revenue up, you're naive.

I never said anything about needing my game reviews to be written by Shakespeare or someone with a pulitzer. Is someone with a journalism degree, and the appropriate education in grammar and ethics too much to ask for?

And again, why is it so difficult for you to peruse all the media, ask a personal friend, or - gasp - try/ rent the game yourself to decide if it suits your taste? So much of this generation is about marketing and hype barking in our faces OMGBESTGAMEVARBUYNOW!

Maybe it's just me, but when I plunk down $60, I don't give two $hits what anyone else thinks, I just want to make sure that I get some enjoyment out of the game.

P.S. I'm not going to get into an N4G flame-fest with you, those are tiresome. In any event, I respect the way that you chose to purchase your games and I hope that I made my point (whether you agree with it or not) a bit more clear. Peace.
