Should You Buy BioShock 2 or Dante's Inferno? - Gamervision.com

Gamervision says, "Last October, we asked a very important question of gamers: should you buy Uncharted 2 or Brütal Legend? A few months have passed and the holiday season is over, but next week, gamers are once again going to have to make one of the most important decisions of their lives. On February 9, 2010, two triple-A titles are going to be released: BioShock 2 and Dante's Inferno. If you're like most of us, you'll play them both eventually, but only one can be bought for full retail price on launch day. Even if you have $120 to spare and buy both of them, one has to be opened and played first. So what will it be?

In order to help with this decision, we have once again assembled a list of pros and cons for each title. This should make it easier to choose a game-or harder, if you had already decided and now have some reasons to change your mind."

Buy BioShock 2, hold off on Dante's. Although now I'm a little worried about BioShock 2 not living up to my expectations.

Nomad3605216d ago (Edited 5216d ago )

I'm also a little worried, but I hope it lives up to my hype.

I will also be getting Dante's Inferno, looks like a good game,I enjoyed the demo.

February looks like a great month for gaming....Next Tuesday!

THE MAX SPEED 215216d ago

Bioshock 2. Dante is looking like a rent.

mrv3215216d ago

I think Dante's inferno will surprise many people. As with Bioshock 2 I think it'll be dissapointed IN SOME areas.

In my honest opinion both will be great games... but the story of Dante's Inferno takes the buscuit.

Also why add multiplayer? I can understand it in many games but Bioshock was great because of the singleplayer it was great for the atmosphere and the story. Multiplayer looks a tad dissapointing. Singleplayer looks really good to.

THE MAX SPEED 215216d ago

yeah Bioschock 2 multiplayer doesnt really look good.

showtimefolks5216d ago

naughty dag co-president said on G4 that he just don't see how any of their games will come without some kind of online in the future

uncharted 2 i think even thought they did a steller job was more of a learning process and hopefully it will get better

but onto bioshock if 2K wasted resources that could have made SP better than i am not happy,,,,so many studios like 4 or 5 so i will take the waite and see on bioshock 2 but for me both these games are on wishlist later on down the road

Zeal0t5216d ago

Yes me too :) Dante's Inferno Death Edition and BioShock 2 Limited Edition for me!

GhostScholar228d ago (Edited 228d ago )

I disagree that max is unlikable. Chloe is infinitely more unlikable in my opinion.

gold_drake227d ago

omg chloe was awful. i really hated her at the end haha

Cacabunga227d ago

Abby was absolute trash protagonist in every way..
Tidus was so meh to me..
On villain side, the one i didn’t like wa Micah, because they wanted him to be that way and it was brilliant👍🏽

Rancegamerx227d ago

I agree, I liked Max, Chloe was a horrible friend and a bad influence.

Cacabunga227d ago

Everyone agrees on chloe, I’m sure even ND do.

H9227d ago

Both are horrible, granted Chloe is infinitely worse, it feels like Chloe is just fanservice for people who too over the edge and wasn't written to be a character that makes sense

GooGobbler228d ago

What about that Forspoken Tw*t

MrChow666227d ago

exactly I was expecting it to be a the top of the list

ravens52227d ago

Ye I was expecting her too. Guess they actually played the game. Unlike you and whoever agrees.

gpimlott226d ago

I played through the whole game and think she is one of the worst character Ive ever played as

ravens52226d ago (Edited 226d ago )

gpimlott. How?

Stanjara216d ago

Why would I payed and played the game if the whole internet is making fun of a character?

-Im here to kill Chaos...are you Chaos?

Yeah, I didn't play that game either.

Christopher227d ago (Edited 227d ago )

She's actually not bad. It's the writing itself that is bad overall, but she's fine overall. She's no worse than Miles Morales IMHO. Both thrust into a spotlight and receiving both praise and blame and dealing with it.

Forspoken is a bland game because it's 75% bland, boring, repetitive going through the motions and diversions that add nothing of the value with purposefully gated memory moments that don't feel organic or like you're discovering things but waiting for others to reveal things.

ravens52227d ago

Exactly Chris. Even though I liked the game. I kno u played it. People who actually played it and went thru her dream saw she was a good likeable person who really just acted out due to being alone and unloved. I think your problem is it was open world, I think if it was more linear you may have liked it better.

savedsynner227d ago

Oh no she's bad. Very unlikable even before you add on the bad dialogue. The game could have been quite good with a good protagonist

ravens52226d ago

For all the people like synner. Shes actually half white lol. Inferior complexity is a hell of a thing. You'll be ok.

Nerdmaster227d ago

Most of these aren't even that bad. Especially comparing to others like Squall "Whatever" Leonhart, Forspoken's Frey, and the guy from Atomic Heart.

-Foxtrot227d ago

Squall is one of the best developed main FF characters so...

People talk about his "whatever" thing thats at the start of the game, not the character he eventually becomes in the end.

Nerdmaster227d ago

No amount of "character development", (especially the ones that for me feels sudden and undeserved like Squall's), will justify him being a d**k to my girl Quistis. Even if he found the cure for cancer, from that moment on, I would never like him.
The article is about being unlikeable, and he was indeed unlikeable for at least half of the game.

BrainSyphoned227d ago

Squall is the best protagonists in FF so you can go whatever yourself.

H9227d ago

My good sir, I need to steal that "you can go whatever yourself" because it's gold

BlaqMagiq1227d ago

Except Squall has actual character development.

gold_drake227d ago (Edited 227d ago )

the "watever" is only present in the english localisation.
so your argument doesnt rly ... stand imo.

Nerdmaster227d ago

Good for you that you could enjoy the japanese version. That's not the case for me and the majority of people here, though.

Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.

LoveSpuds571d ago (Edited 571d ago )

I recall enjoying it well enough at the time, but it wasn't a patch on God of War 3 which came out around the same time I think.

I own it and fired it up on my PS3 about 6 months ago and time hadn't been particularly kind to it although it still very much nailed the atmosphere and it is a cool as he'll setting and universe.

Inverno571d ago

Dante's Inferno needs the GOW treatment. No cut camera, with a real hellish depiction of the 9 circles and a story as dark and as serious would be amazing.

Yui_Suzumiya571d ago

Still pretty amazing there was a PSP version that was actually pretty good. I remember playing it 10 years ago. I had the PS3 version when it first came out and loved it.

Hellcat2020571d ago

Ahh the memories of playing Heavenly Sword
Such a amazing experience

LoveSpuds571d ago

Yup, I remember being blown away with Heavenly Sword. I remember holding out hope that they would go back and add trophy support as a incentive to go back and replay the game, but I don't think they ever did?

Yui_Suzumiya571d ago

I couldn't beat the final boss though! Spent several days trying but eventually gave up, lol. Still enjoyed it though.

refocusedman571d ago

heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.

YoungKingDoran571d ago

I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.

Gee...can't wait to see how many things they change and stray away from, oh don't forget the miscast actors

Neonridr820d ago

I have such high hopes because the first game is so near and dear to me. That being said, I'm sure they will mess it up. I'm hoping it's adult rated, and violent. I want to see a Big Daddy put that drill to good use :P

camel_toad819d ago (Edited 819d ago )

They're great at butchering stuff but there have also been some gems and surprises.

I never in my life thought I'd like a series based on League of Legends but it was pretty great.

Maybe just maybe they'll do Bioshock justice.

In that order

Netflix did well with Dare Devil and the Punisher and I hear the Witcher is pretty good I know when I had Netflix at the time Stranger Things was also good. But Bioshock I love the franchise Bioshock Infinite is my favorite game I would pay the $21 Canadian just to check out Bioshock. Normally I would never renew my Netflix after they did their price hike but Bioshock would be worth it.

LoveSpuds819d ago

When firing on all cinders, Netflix do produce some brilliant stuff so I am not feeling pessimistic at all here. If Netflix deliver to their potential then this could be incredible given the quality of the source material. Personally, I am quite excited.

EvertonFC819d ago

Agreed, Netflix originals etc are fantastic in general, it's rare I don't like something they do.
Certainly not feeling negative with Netflix doing bioshock quite the opposite infact.

Ashunderfire86819d ago (Edited 819d ago )

Bu bu bu bu but what about Cowboy Beebop though? That was a little miss opportunity. Just a little nervous that Bioshock could turn to crap 💩 like that show. If they do a Horizon Zero Dawn show, I hope they don’t screw that up as well. I know a few good actresses that could play Aloy like Jon Snow’s girlfriend from Game of Thrones, and his wife in real life. Definitely see Aloy in her.

Livingthedream819d ago

Netflix does a lot of great things, recently finished the first season of Arcane and it was brilliant.

MadLad819d ago

Arkane was so damn good.
I just hope they keep up the quality with later releases.

I'm not even a LoL player.

Livingthedream819d ago

I’m sure they will, I don’t play the games either, I love the fact that I didn’t need to play them to enjoy it.

Michiel1989818d ago

Arcane was insanely good imo, I was hooked almost all the way. Im not sure of this but i think Netflix didnt have much to do with the production of the show? More like they just bought the rights to have it exclusively on there?

Some of their original shows are really good so im quite hopeful this might turn out to be a good show. Lets hope they wont F it up.

Nacho_Z819d ago

Love Bioshock but I'll prepare myself for the likelihood this will be both crap and a pale imitation of the source material. That covers most video game adaptations and Netflix films.

dumahim819d ago

How many have they done? It sounds like Witcher and Castlevania have done well.

Nacho_Z819d ago

I meant Netflix films in general, there are some good ones but most are average at best in my experience. Castlevania is good but I didn't like The Witcher, although it is successful.

Not sure if there are any live action video game film adaptations on Netflix as yet but they don't have a great track record.

dumahim819d ago

@ Nacho
For movies, I think it’s very difficult to cram he narrative from a 10+ hour game into 2 hours. I think that’s why series are much better suited for video game adaptations. Seems we have a bunch coming up, so we’ll see how well it plays out.

Terry_B819d ago

Why are PS2 and Wii and even the PS Vita tagged?

Atom666819d ago

The Vita tag stung a little bit extra.

Atticus_finch819d ago

Starring Tom Holland I'm guessing.

FlavorLav01819d ago

Haha. Now if it was a Sony movie, very likely

Outlawzz819d ago

Lol the Tom Holland craze is real

Terry_B819d ago

Kevin Nash is going to play the..Big Daddy.
