The Last Story, Yet Another Final Fantasy?

Did you notice the similarity between this and Final Fantasy?

Final=Last
Fantasy=Story

The artwork even looks similar to how they present FF games.

The really important part is that we know Sakaguchi left SE because he didn't like the direction the company was going in. Does "The Last Story" point out that this is how Sakaguchi feels the next FF game should have been? Or more importantly, will he steal the hearts of gamers who love FF games?

It may seem insignificant to you, but this game is a trojan horse in my opinion. Jrpg fans might get caught off guard and fall in love with it!

NOTE: I don't own a Wii, so this isn't a fanboy thing. But with one of the main creators of FF making the game, and important employees of SE leaving all the time, leads me to believe there is a paradigm shift occuring. Especially with long time FF fans upset with the quality of recent games.

Based on a flash webpage and a song. We haven't even seen any media yet.

And the protagonist is possibly female (judging from the pic); there's hardly any female lead-protagonists in the Final Fantasy series (outside of X-2 and XIII).

I don't see any "similarities".

Pretty sure that this game will be awesome regardless of the naysayers. I have faith in the Guch.

Edit: @ below. I don't seem to have said that the game will 'suck' anywhere in my post, simply that it will be awesome, regardless of what other people think. If anything, the author of an article about how a game that has no revealed media and yet is coining Final Fantasy seems to be implying that something is amiss. And yes, I read the whole thing, looking for further substance, of which there was none.

And Terra (FF VI) and Yuna were not the "lead" protagonists, as I stated.

No, there's no real media aside from the logo - which is in a very similar style to Final Fantasy logos, and the name of the game, which has the same connotations as Final Fantasy.

However, I wasn't aware Final Fantasy was a bad game, and I wasn't aware the article said The Last Story would suck. You might also want to remember Final Fantasy VI as a game with a female protagonist and Final Fantasy X, which had Yuna as the main focus of the logo despite Tidus being the main character.

Not really sure who these "naysayers" are that you speak of.

If you just go by the logo and title it does seem very very similar to final fantasy. Since Last is another word for Final and Story is another word for Fantasy. And the logo is blatantly identical to the Final Fantasy ones.

If Hironobu Sakaguchi wasnt the creator of Final Fantasy Square Enix probably would have sued by now.

I've played my ps3 alot over the past year but this game and that xenoblade has got me looking back to see what nintendo is up too.they have metroid m this year with zelda and two rpg one of which got a name change from monado begining of the world which looked like alot like old style rpgs.IMO as long as mistwalker monlith and nintendo remember that rpgs use to be about big time story telling and less of grafics these 2 rpgs could do real well.I know i can't wait to see more.

Yup, it does seem to be fashioned like FF. I heard a great comparison though, this is Sakaguchi's Bayonetta.

Plus if you look at the clock it show the numbers IV to X. IV is the game that started the ATB system and X may be considered the last real FF to Sakaguchi. Could be interesting.

Although to be honest I don't think Sakaguchi is that petty, he seemed really happy for FFXIII's success.

And i wouldnt be surprised that Epic's mickey success in sales might determine if their is ,as obvious as it seems , a market on wii for a disney theme "hardcore" game .

in the end I dont mind what platform it goes on(come on SE announce it!)
But I feel that the combat in the KH series is going downhill, KH2 had better graphics then the 1st, flashier effects etc, but the combat felt shallow, mash X.
I think if it were on the Wii, combat could be a little deeper (seeing as they wouldn't be focusing on Graphics as a selling point). If KH3 is just KH2 in HD im going to be a little disappointed. I'm also a little worried about how the game will look(hear me out), if it looks like the CG cut scenes I'm gonna miss the bright colors that the series has had up until now. Theres just something about the CG in KH lacking the style of the series.

With that all said I would just be happy with it coming out. And lets not forget KH 1 launched on the weakest console last gen ;)
But realistically I dont see SE putting it on the 360. Prob on PS3, and if not, then Wii, and if not then DS or PSP. But the 360 just doesnt have the sales in Japan, And I dont think the majority of 360 fans have played a KH, where as any one with a GBA/DS or a PSP/Ps2 would have

Well to be fair, Final Fantasy is more his than it is Square Enix. He is the man behind it, like someone else here said, the best way to put this is being Sakaguchi's Bayonetta. Lets hope is ends up being his Bayonetta and out shining it's older brother FF...It would be cool :)

I hate to say this but The Last Story might upset Final Fantasy in terms of quality.Pls Sakaguchi-san show Square-Enix how to make a next-gen Final Fnatasy game!!!!!!!!!!! Final Fantasy is my favorite series of all time, but after playing FF 13 "japan import" i was totally disappointed.
