Dear NCSoft, My Aion Account was Hacked. Please Refund My Time.

In the mist of a Aion account hacking spree, it seemS one of the writers from MMOCrunch.com recently had his account hacked.

seriously, how much work is it to recover an hacked account.

When I got my account hacked in Aion it took them almost 2 weeks to recover all my stuff. They take so long because everyone is getting hacked in Aion.

NCSoft's customer support is pretty useless, they claim they reply to trouble-shooting things within 24-48 hours. On average, for me, it's took nearly 2 weeks each time just to get the automated message saying 'someone will contact you shortly'.

Even if you give them all perfect details, for everything - game serials, date of birth, address, full name and credit cards attached to the account, they still take weeks because they don't believe it's you.

Most games roll back you account, so Im not sure why he's having so much trouble getting his gear back

FFXI seemed to do well enough to get a 360 port a few years after the original ps2 release.
Also FFXIV will be on the ps3.

If you are dumb enough to give some informations away, you deserve to be hacked.

It's not like hackers just guess your password, they had to get it from somewhere, mainly the person itself.

Sorry but thats not the case. I dont give out my passwords to anyone, not even family members. Nor do I follow stupid phishing links. I also have an extremely secure PC and have never ever had any problems with losing accounts and I've been playing mmo's for over 6 years. If hackers are able to gain access to passwords on another site they will try and see if those details match your MMO-login ones, if they do then boom they're in.

I think my account may have been hacked. I don't actually play the game, only did for a while. But a day or so ago I did receive an e-mail saying my account password had been resest. Hopefully NCSoft can get this all figured out.

Careful with that. Hover over the link and check the URL. Hackers are sending out fake e-mails with a link to 'login'. NCSoft will never ask you to login or go anywhere if your pw has been changed but rather 'to get in touch straight away if this was not you'.

I've lost myn now. I've gone 8 days currently since the last response from them, and since then I've sent them 3 emails but had nothing back. Starting to get pretty pissed off with it. When my buddy had his WoW account hacked it took 1 10 minute call with Blizz and it was all sorted, yet NCSoft's support is horrible.

Maybe I'm a little ignorant to the situation, but I find that accounts get "hacked" by people either following stupid phishing links in emails and on forums (And from in the game itself), get a virus on their computer that logs their info (and of course, they don't have/run up to date virus scans regularly), or get sucked in by their own greed when they see a "Enter your login details here for free Gold!" link.

Honestly, if you're a hacker with the expertise to actually HACK someone's password without just scamming them, then why waste it on stupid MMO's and not just hack a bank instead?

I think it sucks that it takes weeks to get your account back, but in all likelihood, you didn't get hacked, you were just dumb/naive and paid the price for it and should be happy you get your account reverted at all.

i know several people playing aion and with enough knowloedge to NOT fall into these scams that got their account hacked ...

Sure phishing might be an explanation for some but i'm pretty sure Aion login servers are guilty of laxist security ..

as far as i know this problem was present in guild wars as well but less spread .

So many of these MMO games have some of the worst security.
