Mass Effect 2, the RPG developed by BioWare, had strong opening day sales. The game, being released on the Xbox 360 and PC, had over 100,000 users online after only 8 hours after hitting stores

Excellent, this is one of those games that deserves massive sales. I'm around 8 hours in and it truly is one of the most epic games I've every played. Bioware listened to it's fanbase and fixed nearly everything. I really can't say anything else except that's it's amazing. Definitely check it out.

@FamilyGuy - Connecting to the Cerberus Network, you can download free dlc from day one, which is probably why they did it, so they can track how many people have the game.

LOL @ throwing out a PC stat that is meaningless. You want PC stats look at WOW expansion numbers hours after they are released. Mass Effect 2 big numbers come from the 360. From what I've heard face to face is that Game Stop as a whole is really happy with the game's reception. Can't wait to see what the official numbers will be.

I'm going on record to say nothing in 2009 tops Mass Effect 2's immersive experience. (That includes Bioware's own Dragon Age)

You don't even need your 1st games character save. I'm averaging 5 - 6 hour sessions a day and HATE to peel myself off of the game when I do.

I agree with you EvilDead. I have a hard time pulling myself away. I transfered my vanguard character over and WOW it's amazing. The game referenecs things i did from ME1. I love how much more ME2 engrosses you in the back stories of each character and race. Especially the Krogans. I won't go into detail as i don't want to spoil anything for you and others, but ME2 is truely a masterpiece. GOTY contender for sure. It will get RPG of the year.

I was at Best Buy today and were sold out of the special edition for both 360 and p.c. I asked the sales guys and he said they sold out on day one.

I remember seeing a crap load of UC2 a few weeks after release and even more KZ2 in the bargain bins only after a couple months. Lol.

to xbox 360 that means ME1, ME2 and ME3 will never come to ps3 BUT there will be more mass effects after the initial trilogy that will most likely be multi platform, however its expected this will happen next generation as they have already said they want to end mass effect 3 on xbox 360 and not next generation, so id assume they want to release a new mass effect with a new story arc next generation multi platform.

-The Mass Effect trilogy will not go to the PS3. The PS3 could never run Mass Effect 2 at an acceptable quality level. Dragon Age was able to run on the PS3 because it was an average looking game.

They rolled the dice with an expensive advertising campaign and it is paying off. Now many gamers that passed on ME1 are giving 2 a chance and seeing how wonderful it is. Having such a great game made it worth the gamble of such an ad campaign. It still would have sold to all of us die hard fans but scooped up many that otherwise wouldn't have even heard of the game. I know plenty of people that play games and don't look at games sites or publications. They only hear about the popular new games and not necessarily what is good unless it is word of mouth. This large ad campaign would have got to them while they sat there watching the NFC championships and other places the ads kept popping up like MTV.

Anyway... great game so far. I haven't finished my first playthrough yet.

ME is not a true exclusive, some PS3 owners will have a gaming PC and not a 360 so its a win, win... Oh yeah 360 has no Exclusives, thanks for Beta Testing GTAIV DLC - even though I'm not even interested.

Glad it sold that much just 8 hours in. It deserves to sell. I have put in around 38 hours into the game and think I'm around half way through. So far from what I have seen this game is pure gold. I cant wait to clear it on Paragon so I can cut lose on my 2nd play through with some Renegade action lol
