Rumor: LA Noire responsible for Agent being PS3 exclusive

It's not true that this game has ANYTHING to do with Sony getting Agent exclusively at all. It's a result, and the first fruits of the three game deal for exclusives Sony have with R*. I'm not certain that this is the case but IIRC the deal comes from around the time GTA4 went multi and MS were paying for the DLC-probably a sweetener for Sony allowing R* out of any previous agreement over GTA games and to compensate for losing a guaranteed console seller and money maker in the GTA series I think three new IP(which may or may not catch on remember) is a fair sounding deal.

Also, what makes LANoire and wherever it goes relevanyt to Sony unless R* were to give it to Sony as one of the three, no? Even then it only moves Agent down the release list in any case. Last I heard from the TB site for LAN it was being made for "next gen consoles and PC" IIRC and I don't see much logic in this.

L.A. Noire, for all intents and purposes, is still flagged as only a PS3 game. There's been no official statement otherwise.

Furthermore, it's no secret that R* has posted making more profit from PS3 sales - due to much lower royalty fees - of GTA4, excluding DLC, and for them to bring new IPs as timed exclusives to the PS3 would be the smart choice for them to do to test the waters and see if they have the potential for being made into new franchises.

It's unlikely we'll see anything on either of these games until this fall due to the need to keep marketing focus on Red Dead Redemption.

Dunno why mastiffchild got so many disagrees, he's absolutely right. It had nothing to do with LA Noire. LA Noire isn't even developed by Rockstar, just published by them. Agent's exclusivity came about when Sony allowed GTAIV to go multiplat, since they apparently had it locked down in the first place. It's all tied to GTAIV.

i suppose it does make sense. i think sony had the right idea gaining exclusivity to agent instead even though we know little about it. Rockstar north are very good developers and it will be interesting to see what they can do with the ps3. i wonder if agent will be open world or a linear game.

This could just be a rumour but it does explain the heavy rumours of la noire being a multiplatform games now.

That article makes it seem that its just staying exclusive to build hype for the new franchise, which is true since if it was multiplat i dont see many people caring as much.

In the end it will make the jump to xbox though, but only if its received well.

could Uncharted 2 be done on a 360? Do you really think so? I doubt it, since it was made with the PS3 unique hardware in mind (yano, that unique hardware 3rd party studios have a hard time porting to =P)

well. If agent uses PS3's hardware to the max, i doubt it will appear on the 360 or the PC =/

but you never know. The again if its made with the intention of being multi-play, we'll see a game that DOES NOT take advantage of PS3's hardware.

and if this game doesn't use PS3's hardware specifically, it will be more limited than if it did =)

so we'll see.

hopefully it fully uses the blu-ray with MASSIVE open world and every building can be entered and great graphics =D

bjornbear hit the nail on the head, if the game is made with a multiplat future in mind i can see it going to the 360 but if its optimized for the PS3 and takes full advantage of its hardware and blu ray it would be hard to port

Sony wouldn't be compensated for the $20 million in any scenario. They put in $20 million and then threw away the property which means they wanted to cut their losses. They aren't entitled to a single red cent of that money and of course Rockstar wouldn't be on the hook for it either.

The decision to make Agent an exclusive is a separate deal or Rockstar just wanted to focus on one console. More likely the former.

I somehow don't see LA Noire being an exclusive no longer.

With Sony having no more ties to this game it's very hard for Rockstar to still make this exclusive and give up on 360 sales.

Just look at MW2 for example where the Xbox 360 copy outsold the PS3 copy 2-1. Not saying the game could outsell the PS3 copy but your looking at atleast doubling sales by making it multi platform.

Also could you really a see a company explaining to shareholders we gave up doubling sales so that we could reach the games full potential on one console.

Not sure why Sony fanboys consider Agent as as an "exclusive" while they keep saying Mass Effect 2 isn't because it's also on the PC.

I'll play Mass Effect on the PC; and if Agent is any good, I'll play it on the PC as well. But so far the trailers for Agent haven't looked too good, and Alpha Protocol will seem to be a better spy game.

with splinter cell gone, agent seems to bea last hope of a spy game for the ps3.. i would never buy this game.. too bored of a spy game.. gta 5 would be better as an exclusive. or manhunt 3 rocktar north and rockstar vienna could fuse to make it!! imagine the gore on ps3!!!! awesome.. or bully in college or summat.. be whatever, an open world ps3 game would look the best compared to the other console
