"Never in my life have I seen a game that has suffered from such unbalanced gameplay. Sure, Infinity Ward meant well when they decided to add a ton of new features, weapons, kill-streaks and so on but the truth is that in the end some very ugly combinations have popped up.

I can truthfully say that I have never in my life seen a games balance get this out of control before. Usually there is a hiccup here and there but it's nothing major.

Games are supposed to be competitive but fun yet it seems like everyone is just jumping onto the latest "L33t haXXor" class setups so that they can get a kajillion kills and be proud of themselves when they go to sleep at night.

Second issue is most definitely the glitches."

Play the PS3 version and stick to Hard Core. I have yet to experience the number of issues I hear about and I have nearly 10 days in on the game already. Prestige level 4 and can count the number of glitch matches on two hands and that is not much at all. Yeah you get the campers and the slightly unbalanced game play but there is always a strategy that will oust the idiots. In the end I feel that the PS3 version lacks the issues you all speak of or at least does not get as hammered by the issues as much as the PC and 360 version. Maybe it's just the mature PS3 user base that keeps the game fun...

@Bubbles - I totally agree (for a change LOL), although it's not half as bad as XBL. If you play Socom:Conf. or Warhawk it's a rarity! When I borrowed my friends 360, I got tired of muting people every match, I was hiting the buttons more for muting than playing the damn games!

@snaz27 - You speak the truth bro, I for one, saw this coming a mile away! Everyone was all hyped up for MW2 to out do COD4, but I had this strange feeling that this would not be the case. I choose to rent it before buying it and lucky I did. I finished the campaign 4 times, finished the spec ops once and leveled up to 29 in one week... that was all she wrote for me... I knew I was going to be board & frustrated with it in a couple more weeks so I just gave it back and moved on to the BFBC2 beta.

Check my post history; first day I said this game was thrash. I saw the balance issues; how ridiculous commando was, killstreak rewards that reward camping. They made the game even more accessible to noobs and instead good players exploit the game just like they did in the first with juggernaut and martyrdom. I don't play anymore either.

*shurg* I'm still playing it, but I only play Hardcore Search and Destroy now. It was the same way in COD4...the game just doesn't work right and has too many BS moments otherwise.

If it isn't hardcore it takes too many bullets to drop people. If people have more than 1 life then I get the most BS spawn points with 3 guys behind me with their guns aimed at me already.(In Wasteland on TDM you can literally get spawned in the tunnel even if you JUST died in the tunnel...holy hell that's dumb).

Search and Destroy is a great mix up of some team work(especially if you are with buddies), and outsmarting/gunning others. Yeah people camp(I imagine everyone would if you are on defense DUH!), but play enough you learn the obvious spots quick.

I managed to play everything I have wanted to, and now I bounce between MW2 and Metal Gear Online.(MW2 on 360, MGO on PS3). I tried the MAG beta...wasn't even remotely impressed after about 30 or so hours of it...and I do have a bit of a hype train building up for BFBC2 as more gets let out about it. I think I'll know after that demo they have planned if it's the next big thing for me multiplayer wise or not. If not, then time to start anticipating Resistance 3 and Lost Planet 2! :D

most likely just suck b@lls in the multiplayer. I can't you imagine all of you whining this much if you got chopper gunners every other match like I do. It's like any other multiplayer: you're having a blast when you're owning, and it's the worst game ever when you're losing.

And I still stand behind my theory that most people on N4G hate on MW2 because it posed a threat to Uncharted 2 in both critical reception and sales. Couple million gamers don't just keep playing a multiplayer game if it sucked as much as all of you want it to.

In my personal experience having owned both consoles I'd say PSN definitely does have the more mature and less annoying community. That's not necessarily cause for celebration. It's sort of like being the coolest Jonas brother or the best Uwe Boll film.

This is just another reason I game PC. Not to say the PC online experience is perfect (but near perfect) but to sit there and listen to a bunch of ignorant kids using racial slurs

Every Xbox 360 ships with a headset. If every PS3 shipped with a headset, your "factual" numbers would be closer.

My very first Home experience was amusing to say the least.

I created my guy and went out to the plaza and everyone was dancing where the music was, so I sit down right in the middle of everyone. Someone comes up and puts their @ss in my face and types out, "sniff it!" I chuckled and thought back to all the times I heard or read that PSN users were more mature than XBL. LuLz.

Man it's just a game. People whine too much I think. I don't mind when it's a discussion in the comments, forum, or blog. But as articles published on N4G? Not that anyone would care, but i've decided to sell this game to help pay for something else, maybe borderlands, maybe even MAG. Since i cant get ME2 until my taxes when i get a decent rig, its either one of those, or hell, i still gotta pay off BFBC2.

Its not just the glitches, its the fvckin balance, or lack of balance. They (IW) lost a fan with this game.

I only play on hardcore and i run into plenty of exploits until they are fixed. The way i see it, i went thru the campaign, did a few spec ops, almost prestiged twice, i really don't see whats left to play. I honestly feel cheated out of my time with this game and regret getting it, even if it was used, still a waste of money. But its the flavor of the month for now and im sure plenty will stick with it.

I have sold the game now, but when i was playing it I had a KD of 2.15 ( use to be 2.31 ) and was ranked quite high, but have dropped now.

a lot of the issues people bring up are real. I loved COD4, I played it for 2 years and hardly played anything else online. I still have my copy of Cod4. I traded in my copy of MW2 for darksiders. I still play it on the odd day with my brothers copy but even he is considering getting rid of it.

IW messed it up, it's as simple as that. I could just as easy say the only people who defend this game or claim to love it are people who always get host so they can pull off a lot of crap, or people who run around with commando knifing everyone because with the bullet lag its hard enough shooting someone trying to stab you and with commando it's nearly impossible. I could go on about the weapons, spawn points, map layout etc... but it's all been said before.

Agree, I was so excited for this game because the first one was so great but I traded it in about 2 or 3 weeks ago because I can't stand it anymore. There is no reason someone running around with knives only should be able to get 20 kills in a tactical shooter. I appreciate the fact that IW tried to make the game accessible no matter what your play style is but this whole thing is a debacle. It seems that every week now some new exploit surfaces.

It's the completely unbalanced game play that really ruins it. I've rarely seen anyone using the glitches. But way too many people putting together some ridiculous perk combinations. The worst offender at the moment is people running around at warp speed knifing everyone. I've seen entire teams doing it.

IW really did not put any thought into the perk combinations, they really seem to have gone after the pre-teen demographic but throwing in whatever crap they could think of with total disregard for how it would affect game play.

I can tolerate the lame players (bullet to the teeth), but I can't tolerate the broken matchmaking... the latest pc patch makes the host crash every map change :/ meaning it takes 5x as long to find a lobby and that lobby is doomed to fail. About 50% of the time it will crash on map change :( less frequently for some people, and always for me (as host). If you are not host and it changes map the chances are it will try to connect, count to 14, and go back to the menu... (no, u can't leave the connecting screen unless you try to join somebody)

I bought this game to ease the wait for BC2, I agree with all the issues you have brought up. I got to level 56 and have now had enough. As for BC2 I think it will sell better on the PS3 purely because its a slightly more sophisticated choice.

It is not a more sophisticated choice, it's that no one on the PS3 has a mic so you don't have the same volume of obnoxious people. If Sony had been packaging headsets with all PS3's from the start there would be the same lack of "sophistication" on the PS3. It's not that PS3 users are somehow more refined it's that they don't have any way to let you know how annoying and immature they are; just as immature as 360 users.

i think he was refering to games rather than people. Killzone 2 is a prime example of not being NOOB friendly. Demon's Souls is not NOOB friendly. Sometimes we gamers do have a glass of wine while playing, but sophistication can also extend to choosing games which involve more tactics and teamplay, and well developed characters, rather than going for pray and spray / twitch shooters such as halo/CoD. Which is why MGS (and soon Uncharted 2) will have sales of 5mn + while Bioshock and Mass effect barely sold 2mn on 360 despite a bigger install base.

It can also mean not trying to cheat or swearing all the time. Its becoming quite obvious that the cheating and glitching on MW2 is mostly on the 360.

In years of online gaming on PS3, I have seen precisely one occasion where a kid was repeatedly using the F-word. Other than that, I have met thousands of mic-users and everyone is mature and well behaved. I have NEVER had to mute a player. And even those without mics often display great teamwork and understanding. Ironically, gamers without mics are on average better at teamwork and tactics than those with mics.

You say games like Killzone 2 aren't "noob friendly" but even a "noob" can pick it up and have success with it. That game isn't anymore sophisticated than MW2 or Uncharted 2 or Halo 3.

There were demographic study results published last year that showed the average PS3 owner was older (~28 IIRC), more affluent and better educated than the average XBox owner. That is not unexpected as it was a more expensive console. But that was before the slim, now I expect the demographics are getting more and more alike every day.

And no this is not meant to reflect badly on Xbox owners though I'm sure some will take it that way. But when the demographic is skewed towards a younger audience then it's inevitable that they have less education and money. I don't know too many 14 year olds with a university degree, pulling down 100k+ and driving a BMW :)

thief...back to my original point. PS3 users don't have headsets. That is why you don't get cursed out. As far as MGS goes, that series is much more tenured than either Bioshock or Mass Effect so therefore has a much larger fan base so it would naturally sell more copies. MGS online didn't require anymore strategy than GRAW or Rainbow Six or a dozen other games. Uncharted 2 (as great as it is) is one of the easiest pickup and play games I have ever seen and doesn't require anymore strategy than Halo 3 or MW2. I have had rounds in Uncharted 2 where I single handedly captured all 5 treasures, had the highest k/d ratio and the most kills on the map. How would that be possible if the game was so strategically "sophisticated". Now I'm not trying to say one consoles exclusive's are better than anothers but to say that one consoles are somehow more refined or more "high class" is ridiculous. Any game with the right players can either be challenging and strategic or no challenge at all.

The idea that Killzone 2 is a more "sophisticated" game is in fact an opinion. nevertheless.. i was talking about KZ2 not being noob friendly. you can't just run like around shooting. you'll have to take cover, plan and then move ahead. and as for the multiplayer everyone has to play as a team. rambo moves won't get you or your team anywhere. plus it feels heavy - as in real. the recoil in KZ2 is also awesome. that means you won't be able to keep shooting at the same spot using heavy machine guns because the gun point starts moving up. and no auto aim lock.

all this is completely different from MW2 which has been designed to SPECIALLY help noobs.

Capture the Flag, territories, bomb planting game modes, etc. all require teamwork. Killzone 2 may feel a little more realistic than other games, I'll give you that, but that doesn't make it more "sophisticated" or better. Ask yourself one question; how can Killzone 2 be the ultimate team game like you apparently think it is when most people don't have headsets? How can you "plan and then move ahead" when there is no way to communicate with most (maybe even all of your teammates)? You are entitled to your opinion and I did enjoy Killzone 2 back when I used to play it and I agree it has a more "team" feel to it but to say it is more "sophisticated" than 360 exclusives is just ridiculous and unfounded. It is your opinion and I bet I could find just as many people who would find PS3 games to be less "sophisticated". The fact is that all games are different and although some are more strategic than others that doesn't make them better or worse, just different. I mean honestly what is the definition of a sophisticated game anyways? Do the people who play it make it so? There are just as many annoying people on PS3 that team kill or talk trash (not all of them have mics but they are there). Is it the game itself? You say it's not "noob friendly" but I would frequently see people not working towards objectives or camping by supply crates with rocket launchers. There was plenty of "noob" activity in that game. I play it on PS3, a fair bit but not as much as some of the more dedicated audiences out there. I just got to level 50 today, but I've had it since launch.

I gotta say, I've heard about all these glitches and stuff but never really played in games with them except maybe one- where people just keep getting airstrikes and attack helis....but all I do i change to my cold blooded kit with the stinger straight away and blow whatever it is out of the sky. It's not that hard to work around the glitches if your smart about it I think.

I predominantly use the AUG H-BAR with the grip, sleight of hand pro, stopping power pro and ninja- that gun dominates. But anyway I still think its the best multiplayer shooter out there, Killzone 2 at a close second. The only other thing to play online that's as much fun is Uncharted 2....

Nonbody knows, I think its just ammo for the MW2 haters. I thought the original BFBC was pretty good, but people started (over)hyping this game just to have something to put down MW2 with.

Yup. The hype for BFBC2 started pretty much immediately after IW announced the PC version of MW2 would not have dedicated servers. I think EA did a great job of seizing the negative backlash from MW2's overhyping and highlighting their game and engine's features (ie. 'dey hijacked the hype! HtH!).

I found the BFBC2 hype festival kind of ironic, too, given the original's middle level hit status with the buying public on the first go-round.

Whether or not the end product is worth the hype in BFBC2's case, time will tell! :) I think EA/DICE will put forth their best effort since this is a big chance to steal a large piece of the "Modern Warfare Pie" and the Frostbite game engine is BADASS!

Retrofly - soz bud, but that is complete rubbish.

Battlefield Badcompany 2, going by the demo is amazing. I didn't play the first one, but it averaged out around 8 with reviewers. To me it seem to lack that something that tempted me to it. I played MW1 to death and admit one of the best games I have ever played online. i didn't even bother with the single player. MW2 came out and I could see from all the perks etc that this game would be unbalanced, massively. Its just too noob friendly for me. I do fancy playing the single player of MW2 though as it does look fun and enjoyable.

I was in the Battlefield Bad company 2 beta and as a war game, it was phenomenal. It really will take the MW2 crown I think. It looks like it will give me what I need, a balanced, tactical shooter that plays amazingly.

I never played the first BFBC because I usually only play FPS games on PC and BFBC was never released on PC. The PS3 beta was the most fun I've ever had on an FPS and speaking from someone who never plays console FPS games, that's quite a compliment.

When the PC beta starts on Jan 28th, try it for yourself. I guarantee you, you will be impressed.

i played a clan in sabotage and let me tell you something. They never left the spawn and after 25 min i had held the bomb for 15 min and never seen one of them! Makes the game boring and a waste of time... im a runner but i wont run into a FULL team of campers

To me MW2 got boring really fast. It's basically like a simple CS:Source MOD that is unbalanced. The graphics aren't crisp, the gameplay is simple. The only reason the game sold as much as it did is because of the hype. Hopefully people learned from that. It's just the same old thing I was playing back in 2000.

I got sick of MW1 pretty fast. To me it was a nice looking but mindless game. The only reason I played it as long as I did was because I wanted to play something with my little brothers online and MW was all they played for a long time. When MW2 was announced I assumed I would get it eventually but during the lead up to the game's release I changed my mind. Infinity Ward and Bobby what's-his-name from Activision managed to make me not want MW2 with the former's bashing of Treyarch's Zombie Mode, which is awesome, and the latter's attempted strong arming of Sony to get them to drop the PS3's price. The overwhelming factor though was my impression that MW2 was nothing more than a 60 dollar expansion pack. For me, that impression has been proven true by playing the game at a friend's house and by talking to people on Home about their experiences with it. As for the maturity level on PSN vs XBL, I don't think there's any question that XBL is New Jerk City and PSN is just a suburb. The advent of the PS3 Slim has been changing that though. I just don't like the maps. Most of them I think are scaled too large and it becomes cumbersome running from one side of the map to the other in objective-based games. Other maps have so many vertical levels that it becomes strenuous to follow a path considering having to look up and down constantly for enemies.

In COD4, things were much simpler. A good understanding of the map was needed, but with that there were always tight, controlled battles and multiple "highways" of action. Only a few buildings allowed vertical sniping/shooting and they made it a risk to remain there.

I was never impressed by the cod gameplay. I traded in cod4 after not being able to stomach the lackluster controls and gameplay. That's what I get for falling for the hype. For a year all I heard was how amazing a game cod4 was... What an utter disappointment. No way I was going to pony up another 60 dollars on mw2. For all the crap that killzone 2 got , it still is king in my book until kz3 drops. It is such a better alternative to this mass market bs in every way.

There're people who aren't skill enough so they had to use glitch or cheat or people who like to make offensive comments just because they dislike other players' style of playing or age, gender, race. So they ruin others online experience.

I played a guy a few nights ago. he ran around the map with commando and a knife... got about 25 or 26 kills and about 10 deaths, highest in the room.( it was big team so it was already lagin quite bad )

when the game ended he started talking crap about how we got owned by his knife.... I told him to try using a gun in the next game, so i quite proudly said he would.

he went from 26 kills to 7 kills and 9 deaths. it just showed how easy someone who can't aim for crap and still get loads of kills just running around with commando

At long last COD is getting slated and it deserves too, it is the most overhyped and overatted shooter of all time, and how anyone can rate over Battlefield is a clown. BAttlefield ticks all the boxes (vehicles, destrucbale enviro's and NO CAMPING) and has done since its debut on pc to ps2 and now ps3.

If you really wanna piss off the players who keep coming back to ur camping spot for a revenge kill heres how to do it>

1.Find ur first camp spot
2.Kill a few ppl there and wait till you keep getting the same douche a few times cos he keeps coming back.
3.Now you have hooked a douche kill him one more time
4.Now while hes waiting to respawn and come running back in a rage to kill you find another spot near enough to where you were camping to have a good view of where you where before
5.now wait for him to come back and kill him from ur new spot then when he dies go to another spot with the same plan as above with a view of ur last spot
6.rinse and repeat youll get pms from the idiot that kept coming back and abuse when the match ends but you where never really camping at all you where moving from spot to spot getting easy kills on a raging retard with no brain lol

you will know after the first few killz the camper will move but usually hang around the same area.

have a class set up with a noob tube and semtex.
let your team know that said camper is in the area.
the experienced players will know where to look, tell the noobs to stay away.

you will catch him in an area he has line of sight on his old position. without wasting your time trying to get close, throw the semtex or noob tube in his general area = 150+

no doubt he will be pi$$ed because he got noob tubed, so i will be looking for you hard. after he has been noob tubed a few times he will be running around looking for you, then you can switch back to your regular class. you have now hooked a camper.
