Microsoft Reveals Top Tier 2010 Line-Up for the Xbox 360

From the PlanetXbox360.com news story:

"A few hours ago a very interesting e-mail popped into the PlanetXbox360 news inbox; it's from Microsoft's PR company and it's touting the amazing lineup for 2010, available on the Xbox 360 video game system. Scroll down to see which games the console maker has decided are worth bragging about, and what remains unannounced going into E3 2010 this June. It looks to be one heck of a year to be a hardcore video gamer, agree or disagree? Will the line-up be better on the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3 this year around, only time will tell but Microsoft is making sure you know their opinion.

"2010 is shaping up to be the biggest year ever for Xbox 360," said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. "Across the portfolio, we have an unparalleled lineup of blockbuster games and exclusive experiences, the likes of which have never been seen before." Beginning in January, Xbox 360 will deliver month after month with the most celebrated game franchises and exclusive experiences of the year, including:"

Looks like a pretty strong line-up to me.....well done Microsoft, now bring on E3!

Guido5233d ago

Lips? Really? And why would they list multiplat games instead of standing strong on their exclusives? Seems like a white flag to me. Hopefully they have something special to present at E3 so they don't concede the year entirely to Sony.

ceedubya95233d ago

Some the one's coming out soon excite me more than most (not all) of the big 3's exclusives. There are some high quality multis coming out. Either way, give me a good game......and I'm happy.

I guess if someone really cares about exclusive games though, then the PS3 would be the way to go for pure numbers most recently. But then again, someone may like the Wii or 360 exclusives better.

commodore645233d ago

Why would they list multiplats?

Hmmm... is it because they know multiplats tend to be superior on the 360 and represent a unique selling point?

I guess that also explains why Sony doesn't list multiplats...
;)

Christopher5233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

I'm not too keen on the lineup. I think if you're into the usual 360 exclusives, then this is a strong lineup.

- I'm on the fence about Alan Wake, but I'm like that with most new IPs. Can't wait til we start to see some additional gameplay videos.

- I'll never play another Fable game again. That's Molyneaux's fault with how he's handled the gameplay, though.

- Halo Reach hasn't shown anything that improves on the standard Halo FPS, so I'm hoping they really start shining the light on that info soon.

- Crackdown 2 is an exclusive to an at most average open world game.

- Got Mass Effect 2 pre-ordered... on Steam.

- Might get Splinter Cell... on Steam.

I really wish Microsoft would get a wider variety of first-party exclusives, though. I'm always looking for more action/adventure/rpg games and sure as heck would love to see something made specifically for the Xbox 360 from an in-house team make its way to our hands.

Edit: To those who are complaining about Multiplats... Sony lists them as well. It just doesn't shine as much because they've been pumping out exclusives, exclusives that tend to not sell as well as the multiplats with which they're listed.

PimpHandHappy5233d ago

if they didnt list multiplats they would have 4 games all year!

lowcarb5233d ago

"And why would they list multiplat games instead of standing strong on their exclusives?"

Because games like Bioshock2 will just be better on 360.

Immortal3215233d ago

you guys may disagree but this is all honesty. In 2009 the ps3 set a standard for gaming. most gamers are use to seeing action packed, everything happening at once type gameplay, with the best looking visuals.

most of you guys are just appreciating game that look as good as gears of war or if not better, with understandable gameplay.

I'm starting to think, in your heads that great graphics make the gameplay bad!

5233d ago
gamer20105233d ago

I agree with you, Solidus. That Immortal321 guy is off in la la land.
The PS3 had a good year last year, but like many things PS3-related things become exaggerated and distorted the more times the story is told. It didn't blow the 360 away last year. If you took away even one game from the PS3's lineup last year there wouldn't have been much difference between the lineups.
This year though the 360 has a killer lineup and the PS3's is the one falling behind.

Guido5233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

So Bioshock 2 and ME2 on the PC will be infirior to the 360 version? Really? Or did you forget that the PC is yet another platform? And a more reliable one at that...

Izanagi5233d ago

Not to forget Natal and the games that will release alongside it. Solid lineup indeed. Do we know Sony's fall lineup yet? E3 will be really interesting.

tordavis5233d ago

@commodore64

Multiplats are still games. The majority of the gaming purchasing public does not care if a game is exclusive or not, they just want it. This mainly applies to single console owners. If you only own one system, you only care about what games are playable on that system. It doesn't matter if they are exclusive or not. If some kid only owns a PS3 and is an Assassin's Creed fan, they will pick up the sequel not caring that it's available on other platforms. A game is a game. PERIOD.

littletad5233d ago

Has a great lineup of exclusives, and listing multiplatforms doesn't mean anything except that even more great games are coming to it's console. That's all it is. So please, don't try incredibly dubious spins, for the sake of being a fanboy.

Sony has a good lineup too. And I think we should be grateful the consoles are in their prime and the console war has churned out the best from each system. And 2010 is simply going to be the year where gamers are the winners.

lucifon5233d ago

The only exclusives on the PS3 for me that got use in 09 were Uncharted 2 and Infamous, both games completed in a couple of days and will never touch again, but don't get me wrong - both very awesome.

Once again the best games in 2010 are multi-plat ones, but I also can't wait for Reach, Crackdown 2 and Alan Wake on the 360, and GoW3 on the PS3. Fable seems abit rushed to me, and the 2nd underwhelmed. 2010 is a great year to own all gaming platforms :)

FACTUAL evidence5233d ago

But seriously, this is another boring year for 360. All together, it's only like 4 exclusives that's not really exclusive, then MP's like FF13, and bioshock 2. So I guess my thinking was right....only thing MS had to show in 2010 is SC:C, and Allen Wake. Not a big halo fan, but i'll definitely be going SC, AW, and ME2..the rest of the year is just Meh...And seriously MS, you're really listing DLC for L4D2?....cmon that's ridiculous..

starchild5233d ago

The 360 has a super strong lineup this year, with about half a dozen really outstanding titles. The PS3 lineup looks boring in comparison with only a couple stand out titles and a bunch of filler.

5233d ago
Game13a13y5233d ago

cause i got a 360 too. but 2010 is really looking grim for the 360. looks like my 360 has to be collecting dust for a while.

Joe29115233d ago

You cannot be serious?
"This year though the 360 has a killer lineup OF MULTIPLATS and the PS3's MULTIPLATS ARE the oneS falling behind BECAUSE THEY ARE MADE TO COPE WITH THE 360 HARDWARE. HOWEVER, ANOTHER GREAT YEAR OF PS3 EXCLUSIVE TO COME DESIGNED TO UTILIZE ALL THE PS3 POWER." Thats what your ending sentence should have said.

Saaking5233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

It's strong no doubt, and a LOT better than 2009, BUT it's still not even close to what Sony is offering in both quality and quantitative. And there's a LOT of multiplats on that list. I only count 4 exclusives. That's not good enough.

SilentNegotiator5233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

???

2010
360: Stripper-netta
PS3: Dante's Inferno, DarkSiders, Lost Planet 2....

Your definition of "tend to be" is different than mine, or you're living in the past.

commodore645233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

@ above

I note you have listed some cherrypicked examples to illustrate your point.

What I would ask you to do is keep listing the multiplats.
List them all.
Then find the apples-to-apples comparisons for each of them.

You will find, when you look at the WHOLE set of multiplats, most multiplats are simply better on the 360.

Not only that but even AAA 2010 multiplat titles, like Bayonetta, continue this trend to this very day.

I am only stating the truth and the facts, my fellow gamer.

Don't let it bother you.
Just go and play UC2 and KZ2.
That's gotta be more fun than the above cognitive dissonance you are exhibiting.

SilentNegotiator5233d ago

You're right, look how "cherry picked" my examples are compared to your gleaming list of examples of 2010 games......oh wait....

And the hilarious "Go play a game" sediment. Hypocrite's gold. Because you're obviously playing a game right now, aren't you?

Socrates5233d ago

Neither Lost Planet 2 nor Dante's Inferno are superior on the PS3. Where did you get that?

But anyway, I just want to say that the 360 has so many games I am planning to buy this year and it is just a really nice lineup all around.

SilentNegotiator5233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

Go look at the comparisons.

Dante's Inferno on PS3 has better textures.
Lost Planet 2 on Ps3 is less jagged and is more vibrant.

GiantEnemyCrab5233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

"it's pretty clear that MS 2010 is not worth mentioning "

I would paste the rest of your PS3 diatribe but frankly it makes me sick to my stomach.. I see men talking about women like you are talking about your PS3.. geesh..

Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Fable 3, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction..

Those games alone make your "MS in 2010 not worth mentioning" a pile of poo.

PS3 has Heavy Rain, God of War 3 and GT as big hitters.. I'm not seeing this stark contrast you seem to be making a deal out of.

WildArmed5234d ago

I was wondering why the article's list seemed smaller.

I guess now I know why after looking at your list lool

Kalowest5234d ago

Most of the exclusives on your list right, but of you take away the 360/PC games that list will be alot shorter.

Shang-Long5234d ago

Don't own an xbox but I will be honest n say the obvious much more is coming for the 360 crowd this year and if u have all three consoles plus a pc then ur gonna be broke this year lol

also while metro 2033 seems like another shooter I wanna see how it turns out. It looks interesting to me I donno y haha.

Happy gaming peace

-Shang-

Morbid Bulldozer5234d ago

@Kalowest: Yes, because people play only exclusives.

Another N4G classic...

Sarcasm5234d ago

I thought Scivelation and Metro 2033 were also on PS3.

Torkith5234d ago

Owning all three systems is going to be hard for me to get all the games I want. I'll for sure be getting:

Halo: Reach
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Fable 3

If I can afford it, Alan Wake and Ninety Nine Nights 2 as well.

A few on the Wii and Several on PS3.

niceguywii605234d ago (Edited 5234d ago )

Metro 2033 is console exclusive to the 360.

N4BmpS5234d ago

Yeah Once upon a time Metro 2033 was a PS3 exclusive, then it moved. But Scivelation, and Ninety-Nine Knights II are multi-platform titles.

Christopher5233d ago (Edited 5233d ago )

I thought APB was PC only right now?

And, much like Haze, just because it's an exclusive doesn't mean it's going to be a good game. A lot of those are sequels to mediocre games or new games that aren't getting the hype they want for likely obvious reasons.

mastiffchild5233d ago

Well, right now the comparative lists look pretty similar in length to me whether you own a PS3 or 360(and if you own bot, a Wii , a couple of handhelds and keep a good rig you're pl;in screwed this year)but Sony are only really listing what they have for the first half of the year plus whatever(like withNatal) ships with the motion controls. Are we seeimng Sony keep their cards closer for a change -I think so and believe that we'll see the likes of Resistance3 this year, syphin filter , Twisted Metal and one of Agent and TLG so I'm still thinking MS will have something big to announce come E3 other than Natal games.

Epic battle this year and a treat if you can pick and choose or ,like, print your own cash.Metro33, btw, COULD still appear on all three just as LANoire may be doing -though from what I saw the other day the PC version is looking incredibly oppressive, creepy and brillian(haven't seen the 360 footage to judge).KLokks amazing to me.

frostypants5233d ago

Why can't the 360 fanboy crowd write a single list that isn't peppered with shovelware? You're fooling nobody.

lucifon5233d ago

Natural Selection 2 is PC only mate ;)

Raider695233d ago

Kingdom Under fire 2 !Console gender exclusive for the 360!Cant wait!

starchild5233d ago

Hey Mr Frostypants, you're the one not fooling anybody. The PS3's library is mostly filler. The 360's library is packed with huge titles.

"Microsoft Reveals Flop Tier 2010 Line-Up for the Xbox 360."

Fixed.

Udidntlistenpunk5233d ago

Get on your knees, xbots.

The 360 has no games.

starchild5233d ago

You know why you troll 360 articles so hard? Because you are insecure and immature. You know the 360 has a super strong lineup and that is what makes you feel the need to attack it.

The PS3's lineup this year isn't as strong, but that is ok, it still is pretty decent and will provide PS3 owners with some good games to play.

chrisulloa5233d ago

This is a great list, anyone who disagrees is a moron.

Gamer buys 4,000 copies of Alan Wake, none of them work

Alan Wake, from Max Payne and Control creator Remedy, is a horror classic, prompting one player to buy 4,000 copies that don’t even work.

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran834d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Tacoboto33d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia34d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger33d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie33d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

33d ago
Profchaos33d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie33d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh33d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
