New Heavy Rain screens; characters in detail

A new set of screenshots for Heavy Rain recently surfaced, showing off the characters of this highly cinematic game. These screens, like all the other's we've seen, are incredibly detailed and ripe with emotions.

Bodyboarder_VGamer5228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

Holy mother of graphics! Who thought that the PS3 was capable of this? OMG the level of detail is insane!

Alcon Caper5228d ago

It really does look incredible. The latest video of the convenience store hold up shows the emotion in action. It's pretty mind blowing.

Chris3995228d ago

I'm CONSISTENTLY astonished at what they manage to pump out of this machine. And at Kutaragi's vision for the future. He was lambasted by the American media for his crazy rants, but there was definite genius to his designs.

Such foresight.

Alcon Caper5228d ago

Americans didn't demote Kuturagi, Sony did.

Jpinter5228d ago

I have a feeling Heavy Rain will usher a whole new genre of gaming. It's pretty much a playable movie.

RealityGamer5228d ago

I have to say that the ps3's graphics are really overrated. Uncharted 2 looks roughly the same as Gears2 in my opinion. Sure Heavy Rain looks good, but Alan Wake looks about the same, if not a bit better. And what's with all the hype about GOW3 graphics recently? On a graphical level, there are tons of 360 games that match or surpass it. This is not to mention that most multiplat games look better on the 360. I dont hate the ps3, but enough is enough.

Somnipotent5228d ago

You just compared Uncharted 2, a game that is pretty much universally acclaimed as having the best graphics of any game this gen so far, to Gear of War 2... and then Heavy Rain to Alan Wake (of which we have only seen PC screenshots)...

yeah, kinda hard to take you seriously when you've got those huge fanboy goggles on.

RealityGamer5228d ago

Uncharted 2 was acclaimed to have best graphics because of hype from the community. When I boot up my 360 for gears and ps3 for uncharted2 they look pretty even on a graphical level.

SnuggleBandit5228d ago

poor little guy must game on a 15 inch sdtv

Raf1k15228d ago

Normally I'd tell people to learn a thing or two about computer graphics which would help them distinguish graphical differences in games but for someone who can't tell the difference between Uncharted 2 and Gears 2 there's really nothing I can say.

Bathyj5228d ago

Sorry RealityGamer, if that is your real name, but just because you cant see the difference doesnt mean it isnt there. Everyone else has no problems.

Uncharted scored so high because of hype? When did anyone ever give PS3 a break over hype. Overhyping is M$'s game, not Sonys.

Gears looks like a HD last gen game with vaseline smoothered over everything to me. I dont see why shiny equal good graphics.
Ok, the screen shots look nice, but in motion everything looks so static. Backgrounds might as well be from RE1 they are so lifeless. And the animation and physics are laughable. Walk up to a 400lb dead locast and watch it roll like a tumbleweed at your feet if you dont believe me. Or maybe they altered the Earth gravity so they can get around easier.

RealityGamer5228d ago

Overhyping is M$ game? I thought sony promised everyone that gow3 will be running at 1080p 60fps locked. What happened there?

Bathyj5228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

And I thought Halo 3 was going release the day PS3 launched. What happened there?

I could go all night, but you cant. You'll have to make another account.

CrimsonFox135228d ago

According to these links, Uncharted 1 looks quite a bit better than Gears of War 2.

I didn't say anything about Americans demoting Kutaragi, I was making reference to the media. Nothing was mentioned regarding his relationship with Sony.

badz1495228d ago

you just joined N4G to spill out that crap? you're definitely not new here and most probably a dummy account made to troll!

what kinda fkd up argument is that? He's stating hype leading to high scores and you're bringing up 1080p. How the hell is 1080p related to hype and high scores as an argument? At least stay on topic. Damn troll.

Some of the screens are new, some are from last month. They all look amazing though! I can't wait for this game.

MetalGearRising5228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

In some screen shots graphics don't look impressive and what's with the motion blur in all these screen shots. No not impressive at all only ps3 fan boy's and girls with think otherwise.

KratoOwnsAll5228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

This brat MetalGearCrying is crying all over N4G.

Jpinter5228d ago

Name one game that looks better than Heavy Rain in terms of the ultrarealism art style.

dustgavin5228d ago

So, what is your take on the hot mess that is Halo:Reach? That game looks like utter garbage compared to this.

MetalGearRising5228d ago

Alan Wake which doesn't have motion blur effect like Heavy Rain.

Alan Wake graphics are sharp crystal clear can't say the same for Heavy Rain.

Alan Wake is all action no QTE.

Alan Wake will out sell Heavy Rain when it comes down to SALES.

Finalfantasykid5228d ago

It's called depth of field, and without it games will look flat and unrealistic. As long as the bluring techniques are high quality(And by the looks of it, HR has some of the best bluring I have seen on a console game), then bluring will enhance the quality of the picture significantly.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1275d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1275d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1275d ago (Edited 1275d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1432d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121432d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1432d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121432d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121432d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

Still have my origami crane they teach you how to make when you're installing for the first time.

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
