I prefer the face past, arcade style of CoD. Its just so much fun unlocking stuff and the kill-streak system is so bad-a$$ to me.

Then again, I havent played BC2. If its anything like 1943, then I know it isnt my style. Faster pace is my preference.

I prefer not to compare the two. Although they both are FPS games in taking place in modern time with modern weapons doesn't mean they should be compared. If you like fast-paced stuff, CoD all the way. If you like more tactical, squad-based gameplay, BC2 is for you.

I WOULD agree with you BUT MW2 has failed so, so, hard (if you want to debate that, I will) and BC2 is a game that has made many improvements while staying TRUE to the formula. As well, DICE has already proven to be MUCH more caring and responsive than IW.

A) BC2 has a beta. The beta has resulted in OVER 100 FIXES and modifications to the game based on user feedback. MW2 did not have this and it has resulted in a game that is beyond repair

B) Robert Bowling doesn't work for DICE. He is by far the biggest douche in community service. He is a coward who has abandoned his community and hides behind his twitter page as an excuse that it's easier to communicate with the fans despite the fact that 90% of his tweets are related to his family life

C) Infinity Ward Sold Out. Greedy, greedy IW works for the tyrant of this generation: Activision. They have turned their backs on the fans and have catered towards a more casual audience. DICE remains more true to the franchise.

D) BC2 simply does more, and the gameplay is much more intelligent and well thought out. In the effort to attract mass amounts of casual gamers and excite little boys under 12 IW decided to throw in a whole bunch of crap to make the game look exciting but they refused to ever wonder about balancing issues, overpowered weapons, etc.

It's evident that they DID NOT CARE to offer a functional MP system since they not only threw in a whole bunch of crap that made for severely imbalanced gameplay, but they were arrogant enough to think that they did not need a beta. The game today feels like a beta. An absolute mess.

E) Lag, host advantage, random disconnections, and hacks galore! That's what you get with MW2. You get none of that with the dedicated servers in BC2.

I am a HUGE CoD fan. I have put in over 500 hours in CoD4 and though I do play MW2 (hell I played for 2 hours today), I cannot believe how terribly IW has executed its game.

I agree in that IW's refusal to be in contact with the fans, a lack of a beta, and trying to appeal the game to the masses had some bad results. But I dont think its a total failure like you do.

I could list a lot of problems with the game that needs fixing:
1) Akimbo
2) Noob Tube
3) Lag (which actually happens often)
4) These losers who keep putting marathon and lightweight and then knife everyone
5) Assault rifles overpowered/SMGs underpowered
6) Scrambler sucks
7) glitches (these dont happen too often, but they're still there)
8) Campers, although I can deal with this one

Despite ALL that, I still think the game is really awesome and addicting, and that you're over exaggerating on it being a "total failure"

No doubt though, CoD4>MW2

Edit: Most importantly, theres nothing like CoD multiplayer out there. Nothing that is as addicting or dynamic, IMO.

Edit 2: Oh yeah,and the spawn system sucks @ss. Eeven with out a beta this should not have been a problem, cause it already was one in CoD4.

Considering the hype, the name, the fame, the success, and the history, we should have gotten something much, much better and more polished.

And believe me, I AGREE that it's STILL addicting as hell to play. CoD4 really was a fantastic game but MW2 decided to ditch its fans and destroy the reputation of IW.

It honestly felt like IW was high when planning the game. Nevermind the numerous marijuana references through out the game, but they made absolutely dumb-founding decisions when adding things to the game.

Especially when they're so heavily focused on multiplayer. Love HL, CoD4's singleplayer and kz2 but that's mostly it on my FPS favorites.

It won't because the graphics are better on MW2. And everything is more polished in a more confined game. I guess larger scale games like Battlefield won't really be that great until few years from now or next generation systems. That is one thing to look forward to for next generation. Have a GTA but the game is as polished as God of War or Uncharted 2 that would be insane.

I just can't get into MW2 like I did COD4. It just feels more like an expansion than a sequel. New guns and maps. I worshipped COD4 but there is no way I will make it to level 70 in MW2. I definitely can't wait to try Bad Company, only cuz I'm tired of playing MW2 and I need my shooter fix(loves me some shooters). Should I give the first one a shot? Sorry, but you seem to be a hater of MW2 and that is your own opinion but your defense of BF: BC2 and hatred for MW2 is not going to help Dice's game sell more than a couple mill and is certainly not going to keep the millions of folks already enjoying MW2 from doing just that... @Guido: feel free to defend MW2 where you see fit, but in no way can you claim that Bad company 2 will die out within a year, it's an AAA game and unlike MW2 it will earn it's high scores when it's released, i played the beta and it was incredible, i for one will be buying it day 1.

And, for the third time, as much as I have problems with the game I still enjoy it. But I've played the game extensively. A lot of mechanics are disastrous. It's absolutely ludicrous that the game was botched so badly from everything to structure, balance, and community support. There are legit concerns and criticisms and if the best you can do is ignore it and just spout out sales numbers then you don't really have an argument.

IMO I agree with Alpha... while his statement is aimed at the quality of the game, yours is aimed at the sales of the game. You challenge his opinion with your own, which has absolutely no relevance to anything in his post??? At no point in any of his posts did he mention anything about sales.

And for the record, a good number of the millions of MW2 fans you speak of (that purchased the game), feel similar to Alpha's rant, all you have to do look at all the articles, forums & comments across the internet. Personally I know of about 200 people that bought MW2 and regret doing so!

As well, the main reasons for the record breaking sales that MW2 received (undeserving), was because of;
1. a tremendous amount of hype
2. the QUALITY of MW (COD4 was awesome & many expected the same from MW2!)
3. no reviews before it released (the press was no help, it didn't deserve many of the scores it received, the game is still very broken)
4. no beta or demo, if you were curious you had to buy it in most cases (I rented it myself)

I believe the reason you got your back up was because of all the negative press/comments we keep hearing about the game you seem to love. However, keep in mind that the so called haters are equally annoyed at all the problems popping up daily and having IW not communicate with the community in a respectful way, IW don't seem to care about their own community??? Many feel that they were tricked into purchasing the game!

You should stick to the topic of the rant you're responding too, next time.

BC2 is just so fun. Can't even describe it, I have no idea what makes it so fun. Maybe it's the vehicles, maybe it's the thrill of when you blow up a wall and kill the guy behind it... or maybe it's just that it's so awesome to play with friends and own as a squad. Chances are it's just how every match tends to be unique with different things happening all the time. It's never the same, there are a million different ways to play. Heck, I put more hours into the BC2 beta than I did into MW2.

Although MW2 can be fun in it's own way, there just isn't that level of intensity and depth that really makes BC2 an amazing FPS. Same for MAG, although it could be fun it was underwhelming compared to BC2.

I like BFBC2 over MW2 because unlike MW2 camping is useless in BFBC2 cause if someone is camping you can 1)take down the building they're camping in or 2) if you capture the crates and they would be stuck in the middle of nowhere with nobody to camp on as everybody else moves on to the next objective area

EA has been doing much better over the past few years. Their multiplat games are always almost completely equal on PS3 and 360 (Orange Box doesn't count), they've actually taken risks with new franchises (Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, etc.), and their Wii games are usually designed specifically for the system, instead of just being a crappy port of a PS3/360 game like Call of Duty (see: Dead Space Extraction and PGA Tour 10).

Activision, on the other hand, reaches a new low about once every month or two. :/

When BC2 dies out in a year? LOL. Dice still has a huge player base in Battlefield 2, which came out in 2005. They've stated that multiplayer in BC2 is very similar to this, so there is no reason it should lose a fan base.

Now don't get me wrong. I've put in some hours on MW2. Frankly, it's like crack. You know there's something wrong, but you damn sure can't stop. But I do see the flaws in design and balance.

I will be switching to BC2 for my multiplayer fix. However, I know that a lot of people won't be, simply because they prefer the faster-paced arcade style online. I however crave something that offers me more. And I sincerely hope that BC2 will offer it to me.

IMHO, BC2 and MW2 are significantly different types of games. While they are both classifiable as FPSs, one is a "twitch" shooter (MW2), a super fast paced, not realistic, highly polished, in your face adrenaline rush. If this were a movie it'd be "Crank". The other is a "tactical" shooter, slower paced and more cerebral, more team oriented, more gritty and realistic, less in-your-face-respawn-blam-boom -do-it-all-over-again... if this were a movie it'd be "Black Hawk Down".

FWIW, I loved both flicks for completely different reasons, liking one didn't prevent me from liking the other. Which is what I expect from both of these games because I have enough sense to realize they're on two separate branches on the shooter family tree, and I expect them to both be implemented well and as a AAA title for their game style.

So, I think it is lame when proponents of one sub-genre over the other try to claim their fave is somehow intrinsically "superior" as if this is not all simply pure opinion. Sometimes I want a super simple quick jolt of adrenaline game; sometimes, I don't and I don't think I'm atypical in that respect.

If you want to nit-pick between MW 1 and 2, that does make some sense, but really, there's plenty enough to like in MW2 for me, personally and playing beats b*tching, anyday in terms of fun factor, IMHO.

I personally don't think you can simplify it down to just a case of tall poppy syndrome in all honesty.

There are some very justifyable and honest gripes with a game that gets it so right on some fronts, but messes up badly on others.

You can't dismiss a common consensus on those issues as mere peer pressure bandwagoning, it's not doing those with legit concerns any justice, nor the game designer who cannot/will not respond to gameplay issues if they don't hear about it.

MW2 didn't have any open Beta testing. It was released to the public without any major stress testing and the game shows. Whilst the technical achievements are A class, the actual gameplay elements still leave a lot to be desired.

Now whilst many will consider this nit picking, when you are constantly exposed to it over an extended period of game time (and the initial wow factor dulls) these are the things which will make or break the gameplay experience for many.

MW2 is a quality release with a few fatal flaws. I don't discount for a moment that BC2 will also have issues, but the activity from DICE in conjunction with it's testing team seems to indicate that the latter will get much better vendor support than MW2 has to date.

This in itself might be a major catalyst in porting across the current gaming base and certainly enough to develop a strong consumer support base.

I personally cannot wait for BC2! Everything I read, hear or see about this game says to me 'quality' and I'm more than happy to pay for it.

Bring on March 2!
