Why Battlefield Bad Company 2 Will Be Better Than Modern Warfare 2

Jason from Game-Smack.net enjoys Modern Warfare 2 but doesn't think it's perfect. In fact, he feels that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will triumph it. Find out why here.

I prefer the face past, arcade style of CoD. Its just so much fun unlocking stuff and the kill-streak system is so bad-a$$ to me.

Then again, I havent played BC2. If its anything like 1943, then I know it isnt my style. Faster pace is my preference.

LukaX235218d ago

I prefer not to compare the two. Although they both are FPS games in taking place in modern time with modern weapons doesn't mean they should be compared. If you like fast-paced stuff, CoD all the way. If you like more tactical, squad-based gameplay, BC2 is for you.

-Alpha5218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

I WOULD agree with you BUT MW2 has failed so, so, hard (if you want to debate that, I will) and BC2 is a game that has made many improvements while staying TRUE to the formula. As well, DICE has already proven to be MUCH more caring and responsive than IW.

A) BC2 has a beta. The beta has resulted in OVER 100 FIXES and modifications to the game based on user feedback. MW2 did not have this and it has resulted in a game that is beyond repair

B) Robert Bowling doesn't work for DICE. He is by far the biggest douche in community service. He is a coward who has abandoned his community and hides behind his twitter page as an excuse that it's easier to communicate with the fans despite the fact that 90% of his tweets are related to his family life

C) Infinity Ward Sold Out. Greedy, greedy IW works for the tyrant of this generation: Activision. They have turned their backs on the fans and have catered towards a more casual audience. DICE remains more true to the franchise.

D) BC2 simply does more, and the gameplay is much more intelligent and well thought out. In the effort to attract mass amounts of casual gamers and excite little boys under 12 IW decided to throw in a whole bunch of crap to make the game look exciting but they refused to ever wonder about balancing issues, overpowered weapons, etc.

It's evident that they DID NOT CARE to offer a functional MP system since they not only threw in a whole bunch of crap that made for severely imbalanced gameplay, but they were arrogant enough to think that they did not need a beta. The game today feels like a beta. An absolute mess.

E) Lag, host advantage, random disconnections, and hacks galore! That's what you get with MW2. You get none of that with the dedicated servers in BC2.

I am a HUGE CoD fan. I have put in over 500 hours in CoD4 and though I do play MW2 (hell I played for 2 hours today), I cannot believe how terribly IW has executed its game.

swiftshot935218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

I agree in that IW's refusal to be in contact with the fans, a lack of a beta, and trying to appeal the game to the masses had some bad results. But I dont think its a total failure like you do.

I could list a lot of problems with the game that needs fixing:
1) Akimbo
2) Noob Tube
3) Lag (which actually happens often)
4) These losers who keep putting marathon and lightweight and then knife everyone
5) Assault rifles overpowered/SMGs underpowered
6) Scrambler sucks
7) glitches (these dont happen too often, but they're still there)
8) Campers, although I can deal with this one

Despite ALL that, I still think the game is really awesome and addicting, and that you're over exaggerating on it being a "total failure"

No doubt though, CoD4>MW2

Edit: Most importantly, theres nothing like CoD multiplayer out there. Nothing that is as addicting or dynamic, IMO.

Edit 2: Oh yeah, and the spawn system sucks @ss. Eeven with out a beta this should not have been a problem, cause it already was one in CoD4.

-Alpha5218d ago

I don't think I'm exaggerating at all.

Ok it's not a COMPLETE failure, but it IS mostly a massive dissapointment.

Considering the hype, the name, the fame, the success, and the history, we should have gotten something much, much better and more polished.

And believe me, I AGREE that it's STILL addicting as hell to play. CoD4 really was a fantastic game but MW2 decided to ditch its fans and destroy the reputation of IW.

It honestly felt like IW was high when planning the game. Nevermind the numerous marijuana references through out the game, but they made absolutely dumb-founding decisions when adding things to the game.

ReservoirDog3165218d ago

I just don't like the feel of battlefield games. Just doesn't work for me so I know I won't buy this. CoD's fun but I'm just not that crazy about FPS games.

Especially when they're so heavily focused on multiplayer. Love HL, CoD4's singleplayer and kz2 but that's mostly it on my FPS favorites.

Kevin ButIer5218d ago

COD MW 2 requires "Camping & Pablo"

You decide, both are pure fun, but i hate MW2 respawn system, and BFBC2 respawn system is really good

glennc5218d ago

without a doubt... you are comparing an old gameplay game to a brand spanking new one. mw3 will mimic bc2 when it comes to destruction and vehicles. the goal posts are shifting and cod is about to be left behind (it actually has been left behind already but no one seems to have noticed, or will admit it).

mikeslemonade5218d ago

Why Battlefield Bad Company 2 Will Be Better Than Modern Warfare 2?

It won't because the graphics are better on MW2. And everything is more polished in a more confined game. I guess larger scale games like Battlefield won't really be that great until few years from now or next generation systems. That is one thing to look forward to for next generation. Have a GTA but the game is as polished as God of War or Uncharted 2 that would be insane.

Kratos Spartan5218d ago

I just can't get into MW2 like I did COD4. It just feels more like an expansion than a sequel. New guns and maps. I worshipped COD4 but there is no way I will make it to level 70 in MW2. I definitely can't wait to try Bad Company, only cuz I'm tired of playing MW2 and I need my shooter fix(loves me some shooters). Should I give the first one a shot? I'm sorry, don't kill me cuz I haven't played it yet(yikes!)

SixZeroFour5218d ago

i cant wait for squad deathmatch (i think it was called...4v4v4v4) unfortunately my closest friends are diehard cod fans, and doubt would move on to a game that actually required skill :S so i guess i need 3 other guys to help me out, either way, i can see myself having fun with this gametype

Guido5218d ago

Sorry, but you seem to be a hater of MW2 and that is your own opinion but your defense of BF: BC2 and hatred for MW2 is not going to help Dice's game sell more than a couple mill and is certainly not going to keep the millions of folks already enjoying MW2 from doing just that... For years to come. MW2 will be going strong while BF:BC2 dies out a year after release. It's just a history lesson in the making.

S-T-F-U5218d ago

Are you blind? Did you play the BC2 beta? The graphics & physics are ten times better than modern warfare 2. Plenty of Videos on Youtub that demonstrate this...

Noctis Aftermath5218d ago

@Guido: feel free to defend MW2 where you see fit, but in no way can you claim that Bad company 2 will die out within a year, it's an AAA game and unlike MW2 it will earn it's high scores when it's released, i played the beta and it was incredible, i for one will be buying it day 1.

TheDeadMetalhead5218d ago

I didn't get into the BC2 beta, but BC1 is fun as hell. I definitely want this. :D

Motion5218d ago

"mw3 will mimic bc2 when it comes to destruction and vehicles"

I disagree with this statement, only because BC1 had destruction and vehicles and they didn't mimic it in MW2, so why would they change their game formula with MW3? Their track record shows that they don't feel a need to develop new game engines...

-Alpha5218d ago

I gave substantial reasoning for my opinion, so I stand by what I said. Calling me a hater doesn't change the fact that my list of complaints is valid and a total embarrassment to IW.

And like I said, I play MW2 nearly everyday, do you think I WANT it to fail? I complain because I care about the game and there is still hope for IW to fix it even if the damage has been done.

I certainly don't hate the game, but it's nothing like it should have been.

And your prediction is not history in the making. In fact, historically, people have played BF games much after a whole year. Just because there are MORE players on COD doesn't mean BC dies out.

People still play many old BC games, so I really don't know what you are trying to say. The argument was about the quality of the games, not which one is more popular so I find that comment to be irrelevant.

Guido5218d ago

Your rant won't sell copies of BF no matter how it goes and to be honest, there are seven times the number of people who bought BF:BC that would disagree with your statement that MW2 is an embarrassment to IW. The game sold millions and is played online by millions. Sorry, but not BF game ever came close to what COD has given us and though MW2 might not be your game does not detract from the fact that it is the best MP game out now and played by millions more than BF:BC2 will ever see.

-Alpha5217d ago (Edited 5217d ago )

Why are you hiding behind numbers? They do not mean much at all. No one is denying MW2 has its fans and that the game has sold a lot. Never did I say BF was going to reach COD numbers. We arguing quality, and I don't see why you wont refute my "rant" despite the fact that I gave valid reasons why MW2 is such a disappointment.

If you want to play the statistics game then does that mean my comments are superior to yours because I have more agrees and you have more disagrees? Surely you wouldn't say that, but by analogy that is what you are saying about MW2.

"there are seven times the number of people who bought BF:BC that would disagree with your statement that MW2 is an embarrassment to IW"

I expect you have proof for that?

And, for the third time, as much as I have problems with the game I still enjoy it. But I've played the game extensively. A lot of mechanics are disastrous. It's absolutely ludicrous that the game was botched so badly from everything to structure, balance, and community support. There are legit concerns and criticisms and if the best you can do is ignore it and just spout out sales numbers then you don't really have an argument.

CyberCam5217d ago (Edited 5217d ago )

IMO I agree with Alpha... while his statement is aimed at the quality of the game, yours is aimed at the sales of the game. You challenge his opinion with your own, which has absolutely no relevance to anything in his post??? At no point in any of his posts did he mention anything about sales.

And for the record, a good number of the millions of MW2 fans you speak of (that purchased the game), feel similar to Alpha's rant, all you have to do look at all the articles, forums & comments across the internet. Personally I know of about 200 people that bought MW2 and regret doing so!

As well, the main reasons for the record breaking sales that MW2 received (undeserving), was because of;
1. a tremendous amount of hype
2. the QUALITY of MW (COD4 was awesome & many expected the same from MW2!)
3. no reviews before it released (the press was no help, it didn't deserve many of the scores it received, the game is still very broken)
4. no beta or demo, if you were curious you had to buy it in most cases (I rented it myself)

I believe the reason you got your back up was because of all the negative press/comments we keep hearing about the game you seem to love. However, keep in mind that the so called haters are equally annoyed at all the problems popping up daily and having IW not communicate with the community in a respectful way, IW don't seem to care about their own community??? Many feel that they were tricked into purchasing the game!

You should stick to the topic of the rant you're responding too, next time.

In terms of sales, no. Quality wise, HELL YES.

Truth5218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

I completely agree.

Lemon Jelly5218d ago

all they had to say was "dedicated servers" and I'm sold.

MiloGarret5218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

Lol, you need to update your knowledge on that matter... Oh they'll have dedicated servers, but... with a twist. AWESOME pic btw, you get a bubble just for that.

To the author of the article: spell check, fück sake, SPELL CHECK!!!

"put the pedal to the medal" /my favourite.

Lich1205218d ago

Is that the kid who was at fat camp? And if so, I saw that growing up and again fairly recently... was surprised that Ben stiller was the evil health nut. And, if Im thinking of the wrong movie, just disregard this entire statement.

Motion5218d ago

You mean that you have to rent one directly through them? Thats not too bad really, probably cheaper than buying a server, and they can make sure exploits arent' being used in ranking/unlock systems.

LUCKYXS7LEVEN5218d ago

been a fan of battlefield 2's because they top the original.
p.s.
Bring back the highway lvl from battlefield modern combat 2

ASSASSYN 36o5218d ago (Edited 5218d ago )

I prefer popping a tank shot off clear across the map for a kill vs. popping a call of duty rpg off and praying it flies straight.

I got my limited edition battlefield bad company reserved.

With all the crap going on in COD I and the fact it is not going to end. I am moving on when battlefield drops. My friends feel the dame way. We all are ditching COD.

LUCKYXS7LEVEN5218d ago

well i prefer to knife you n t-bag u in the face, wait for u to respawn back do it again n maybe skull fack u just for the kiddies playing this big boy game. Hey someone has to be example for the screaming sirens.
end of joke /
i like the tank too but i like to show-off by making it go boom and yelling " Where's My GDamn Waffles "

KingKiff5218d ago

I think once this game hits MW2 will die as people will switch games and IWnet won't have enough players to make matches...

The reason they did this IWnet crap was so that this game will die 12 months down the track and you will all be forced to buy the new COD12 ancient warfare when it hits the shelf for $120...

Skuletor70d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens5270d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

The Argument for Battlefield: Bad Company Remakes

With the franchise’s mainline entries failing to find their footing in recent years, now is the perfect time for a Battlefield: Bad Company remake.

thorstein121d ago

Of course there is no counter argument. This is what fans of the franchise have wanted for years. This and/or BF Bad Company 2.

When asked why there hasn't been another Bad Company:

“There's one thing that lingers with Bad Company that we've been asking ourselves: What is it that the people really liked about Bad Company?" DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson told Eurogamer.

Troedsson says that he and his team can’t put their fingers on what it is that people loved about that branch of the brand. “It's hard for people to articulate what that is, which is actually hard for us,” he says. “It would be hard to remake something like that. Can we do it? Of course. We have our theories when it comes to the multiplayer."

I always activate the Black Weapon on BFV Solomon Islands for all the BC2 fans who hear/recognize it, thus starting the events of BC2 on BF5 :)

Derrrunnn. Derrrunnn.

Tody_ZA120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

What is so hard to understand for them?

Bad Company 2 is one of the best and most memorable games in the series because:
- It was class-based (duh)
- Heavy focus on squads
- Substance over map size or gimmicks
- Fantastic and realistic gun play
- Well designed maps
- Destructible environments (why has this been minimised so hard in the series? You could demolish buildings in bad company 2 with some well placed C4
- Great progression system and variety in play
- No stupid CoD imitations or focus on the store over the game
- It was *drumroll* incredibly good fun?
- It was unmistakably BATTLEFIELD

INMATEofARKHAM120d ago

Probably should add a fun campaign to the list.

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

DaReapa144d ago

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

Inverno144d ago

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

1nsomniac144d ago (Edited 144d ago )

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
