That's great news. This reminds me of when Gamefly(not to sure) had Star OCean IV listed on PS3 way before it was even announced.

mmmmm..... I hope it stay ps3 exclusive, like it or not haters.

off topic:
Where are the GoW 3 news ><

Most Shin Megami Tensei games are low budget so I don't think they'll use any of the advantages of the PS3 like the space of blu-ray or powerful processing to make something beautiful like Uncharted 2 or Heavy Rain. The game will look like a PS2 game in HD no matter what.

But FFXIII, well, that's an entire different matter... The game's already ruined thanks to M$. But we still have one last hope, FFvsXIII.

How is it thanks to M$? I agree that had it remained exclusive(or even gone exclusively to the 360) it could have been better looking and on PS3 been bigger due to BR(unless SE were waived the multiple disc royalties by MS)mainly because multi plats aren't as stuunning on either platform as a true exclusive optimised for just one platform.

However, even if it WAS the case that FF13 was cut down in quality or length because of being multiplatform it's not MS fault-they're only looking after their gamers and their business aren't they? Blame SE if you want to lay blame for caring less about the experience of FF fans and more about their bottom line and, also, for being slack as hell in their PS3 support after their adverstsining for FF13(for years and right up to E32008) was convincing gamers to buy PS3 if they wanted to play their biggest franchise.

Honestly, if you were MS wouldn't you want a series as big as FF on your console to give to your gamers? What reason is there for MS NOT to get it onto the 360? I don't get it at all but can see a case against SE and even that's got a little past worrying over hasn't it? All that remains now is to see whether we weaterners actually like FF13 when we play it and given the wailing and gnashing that usually greets a FF that changes ANYTHING and a lot of us still end up loving them I'd suggest still giving it a go come March.

Back OT:Yes, Atlus don't usually push the technological boundaries of the hardware their games are on with SMT or the Persona games-at least not like high budget, lavish games like FF are but didn't they promise after P4 released that their next game(and first SMT/Persona on PS3/next gen consoles)for home consoles would be a more flashy affair? IDK if I care as long as the quality of game is as high as it has been for those two series , though, does anyone? Part of Persona's charm , for me, was in it's slightly scuffed delivery leaving more emphasis on characters.

Whichever this turns out to be, and whether it's a PS exclusive ot not(though most fans are Sony based I would assume)it should be very much worth playing and if this is to be believed(and whyever not?) then we should be looking forward to something good.

the game would most likely look alot like no more heroes paradise for the ps3 and 360 seeing as nmh for the wii uses simlar shading techniques to some of the previous shin megami tensei games for the ps2, which is not a bad thing either, i prefer artsy looking games over realism.

i believe that the atlus r&d1 team will create something truely unique while keeping the high standards of their previous games

ssipmraw5219d ago

possibly, but its most likely shin megami tensei 4

Marceles5219d ago

4 would be cool as well, 3 wasn't bad at all

Da One5220d ago

It's about time Atlus make a PS3 game.

Sea of stars while seeming pretty good so far doesn't belong in the top rpg discussion. There's way better ones. I'd tell them to play star ocean 2. One of the best non turn based rpgs ever. It has everything.

And if the list is limited to just turn-based RPGs, I can think of better ones to add to this list. You have the Dragon Quest series, the Trails series…Persona 5 Royale is on the list but why limit it to just that one? P3 and P4 were great as well.

The Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, or the Shadow Hearts games has decent enjoyable turn based combat system.

Would be plus+1 more if they'd settle the fk down and stop re releasing it. I'm waiting on the definitive one over here

BrainSyphoned316d ago

It's ok, I bought 4 to your zero, they don't need your pity purchase. Every version was definitive and has their own perks.
