CC: The Entertainment Software Rating's Board have summarized their reasoning for giving the upcoming PlayStation 3 Exclusive Heavy Rain a Mature rating. The biggest factor towards this rating, is most likely the nudity and sexual content in the game, in which the ESRB have described.

Good to see the US getting the uncensored version.

mjolliffe5226d ago

Sure is... Can you imagine the carnage from over 18's if it was censored :P

Bungie5226d ago

"actual sex is never depicted as the camera fades to black"

:(

frjoethesecond5226d ago

Bungie is clearly regenerating bubbles. Had 3 a while ago.

thereapersson5226d ago

Interesting, isn't it?

I've lost three bubbles in the past 3 days just for commenting briefly against 360-related subjects that I feel strongly about.

Shows who really infests this site -- and it isn't PS3 fanboys.

frjoethesecond5226d ago

I wonder why its so important for bungie to piss people off that s/he has to set up multiple accounts. I have no life and yet I kinda have more of a life than that.

duplissi5226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

thank god.... saves me the trouble from importing it.

edit: silly disagree-er so i guess i still would have a reason to import it even with the uncensored one.... glad you let me know!

xabmol5226d ago

Yeah, I too would have imported it if it was censored in the US. Glad I don't have to cancel my pre-order with the free DLC. :)

Oh, and don't be bothered by that 1 disagree. The agree/disagree system has a few bugs in it. Probably just an error.

Hellsvacancy5226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

But here in the UK its a 15, we aint shy bout showin sum booty/boobage (u should c the tarts that govern the streets at night over here)

dorkride665226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

Good trick Bungie. Just say something nice about the PS3 or use a PlayStation avatar and watch your bubbles multiply...only on N4G where PS3 f@ns rule.

On topic - Heavy Rain is going to be one of those games that you want to play over and over because of the story - can not wait till my copy arrives.

Silly gameAr5226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

Yea I agree. Good trick Bungie ;) (wink wink)

Mr Tretton5226d ago

Take Bungie's bubs already! Attack attack!!!

DaTruth5226d ago

Making good comments just stops people from taking his bubbles long enough so he can multiple account re-bubble.

There are plenty of PS3 fanboys with no bubbles. Nasim can't last 2 weeks on this site after making a new account!

IcarusOne5226d ago

I still don't understand why I should be excited about this game. I've seen the trailers and gameplay videos and (goodbye bubbles) I'm not very impressed. It looks like a clunky QTE game. And as for the sexuality, the short-haired dike-ish chick isn't even that attractive. There are some games that I understand being excited for: ME2, GOW3, GT5, UC2, Splinter Cell, MW2 - to name an unbiased few. But Heavy Rain? Come on...

(I might eat these words by the end of the year.)

dorkride665226d ago

you just committed suicide my friend. Good bye bubbles : )

Raz5226d ago

Edgy developers + 'nudity & sex' of the fade-to-black variety = still lame.

Logiistics5226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

We all knew it was going to be rated this anyway.. So confirmation is good. Wonder if AU will get the censored version?

mjolliffe5226d ago

Doubt it... I feel sorry for all of the Aussie gamers, they can't be amused.

HBK6195226d ago

Already been given an MA15+ rating here with seemingly everything intact. Games don't get edited for us before being rated so I'd say we'll be ok.

ExcelKnight5226d ago

Then again, Australia is renowned for banning ultraviolent media far more than hyper-sexual content. It might just be Heavy Rain's saving grace that the most offending parts are likely the nudity and not gore.

ian725226d ago (Edited 5226d ago )

I hope it doesn't get censored anywhere. We all should be able to play the same version wherever we are from. I'm from UK where its not too bad, but US, AUS, N/Z wherever your from you hopefully and should get the original full version of the game. I wouldn't be happy if I got a dumbed down version when others weren't.
I want all to enjoy this great game wherever you are.

ssipmraw5225d ago

well if the context for the content is good, they usually dont mind.
seeing as god of war III has been cleared for release

A game with scene that massacre's innocent civilians... no explanation needed.

A game with a tiny bit of tits and ass, explanation required.

What is wrong with this world?

Cum shots and anal sex are not as bad as blowing a woman away with a automatic rifle, FACT! When will politicians and local authorities understand this?

mrv3215226d ago

I fully agree. How come when a game like L4D2 comes out no one bats and eye... just you usually KILLFEST but the second someone releases a tasteful in-context sexual refrence or sex itself, the media go wild.

I'd rather a world with sex than a world with mass murder... it's a real shame the latter still happens.

While I know violence in video games does not and never will cause violence in the real world, violence in video games probably don't do much good to the violent people in the world. Sex is such a mute topic and I don't know why. Sex may have once been looked down upon but people of today are intelligent to realise sex is not bad... well atleast I hoped people of today where intelligent. In 20 years time I feel sex will not be such a problem especially if we get games who break boundries like Heavy Rain.

COD:MW2 did not break boundries with the airport scene because any human being would know that level is stupid and to put it in a game in the future will be EQUALLY as stupid.

So long as the sex is in-context and tasteful I have no problem with it. If it's out of context and added just for sales and contreversy then it's just pointless.

xabmol5226d ago

Because those in charge would rather us hate and kill one another than be peaceful and sexual.

Helps distract us from whats really going on.

Yes well i think the next 20 years will change that. For good.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1271d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1271d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1270d ago (Edited 1270d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1428d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121428d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1428d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121428d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121428d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
