Popular gaming magazine GamesTM has chosen the top 10 games of 2009 in their latest issue, with a slightly surprising selection as their number one pick.
With so many PS5 exclusives to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming to pick which one to play. This is especially true for a new PlayStation gamer who has yet to experience the wonder of PlayStation-exclusive storytelling. So, here's KnowTechie's take on the best PS5 exclusives in 2024 and beyond
PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?
Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.
GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.
But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.
Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.
Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.
I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.
While there’s likely already a list behind closed doors, one can still speculate and offer logical suggestions for titles new and old that should find their way into the PlayStation and Switch libraries.
Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela
They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.
Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.
I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.
Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.
Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.
Resident Evil 5 launched 15 years ago today - and it continues to stand as a stepping stone from the good to the bad.
One of my favourites because of the co-op. Then Resi 6 arrived and the series nosedived further.
I enjoyed the game co-oping with a friend I know the game in solo the AI can be an idiot but RE5 is way better then RE6. I played RE6 with a friend if it wasn't cheap when I got I would have avoided RE6.
5 was excellent, still play Mercs with my brother.
I would love a fully remastered RE:5, with some added, reworked content. The DLC for 5 was also excellent.
6 was awful.
I never understood why the game was misunderstood. It was a fantastic game at launch and is still fun today to play. It’s as action packed as Resident Evil 4 was, yet that’s regarded a masterpiece 🤷♂️
it was "misunderstood" because they introduced co-op into the franchise at a time when people loved to have fake rage about co-op. like, you could play the game as a solo experience, but people chose to have their bandwagon rage because it was cool at the time lol
Even though Demon's Souls is a great game, I would have chosen Uncharted 2 as the top title.
I'm also surprised that New Super Mario Bros. Wii isn't even in their top 10. I just received the game recently and not only found it to be much better than the DS title, but it's also just a lot of fun in general. I'm not saying it's number one, but it should be in the top 10.
Not surprised. But I would have had Uncharted 2 and ACII over it any day to be honest :)
That list lost all credibility when they put "flower" in and left Borderlands out.
Now flower is a great game (if you can call it that) I loved it. But after an hour I was bored and never played it again.
And Resident Evil 5 was a good game but Borderlands blows it out of the water..
An ok list but a shame they left out one of the best games of this generation, never mind this year..
Myself and at least 50% of my friends lists have drilled Bordelands for hours upon hours. Now that says to me that it is a great game..
Ahh well, that is the fun of these "Top 10" lists isnt it. Arguing over the results and debating what should've been this number and so on.
what a bad list lol. beatles rock band and dj hero? what? l4d2 wasn't that good either... though probably enough to make top 10.
My personal game of the year is killing floor, its just so damn fun. not very well made very true, but the decision making in the gameplay aspect is clearly more sensible than the likes of AC2 and MW2. I like that I am seeing flower on that list, though really I don't think it should be there. AC2 was so buggy... lol, infact games with bugs like that shouldn't even be released - it is essentially broken, likewise with mw2, mass effect and lots of other games.
The production quality of l4d2 is top notch, I will admit that. Monster hunter is a truly great game, does everything right and has great gameplay, lore and other characteristics. Resi 5 was HORRIBLE, it should be on the list of the worst 10 games of 2009. It has stupid AI (sheva likes to stand infront of ur rocket launcher etc), they removed the MP just to put it for dlc later. It was quite fun yes, but it's severely flawed and its not the way people want resi to be :( resi is losing it's roots. If I find a survival horror that is basically made like the old resi games, yes I would criticise it for that as its a goal with no keeper but I would see why they did it and probably buy the game - if it was done right!
I have no dispute on Demon's Souls taking the #1 position. It is by far the most innovating/risky RPG game this generation. The sheer difficulty and punishing gameplay is more than enough to turn off the "casual" player, yet it's overall quality just shows that even this gen can take back a piece from the old "Famicom/NES" days when you failed is simply due to the lack of skill rather than the game being unfair.
I hope new IP's like Heavy Rain also deserve such critical acclaim.
