Quantum Theory Absolutely Is Gears Of War On Playstation 3

OMG this game will be brutally avoided! Every piece of art and corner of design screams mediocrity! I don't mind devs re-using the wishbone of other games but at least give the sense that there's is a little bit more than meets the eye. Gameplay seems so sluggish and overal quality way past gen.

I will say this - the newest gameplay videos look better than last summer's build by far. What I had seen before was nothing but a bland, laggy mess. This at least looks more passable, but Gears sets a pretty high standard if that's what they're trying to match.

I'm going to wait on the reviews & maybe a demo before considering this one.

If it turns out good, then that's just super swell. I'm not going to be overly optimistic.

on my "To Get" list since I read in my newest issue of Playstation: The Official Magazine that this game does NOT support two-player coop. How stupid is that?? The whole game and story is based around two people working together yet they don't make coop play an option. Total nonsense. I just don't understand developers and the way multiplayer gaming is headed now. There are like next to zero games that support two player coop splitscreen and the ones that do are mostly on the 360 and Wii it seems. Come on we all know that the PS3 is the most powerful and capable console out there so we better start seeing some games that support splitscreen!!!

why you see more coop and splitscreen on 360 is MS is going for that kind of gamer.Look at most of their exclusives left4dead 1/2, gears 1/2, fable 2, forza 2/3 ,splinter cell con, and halo 3/odst. Then crackdown has online coop. not sure on halo reach and crackdown 2.

of a game than gears. What I was totally preturbed about Uncharted 2 was, again, the total lack of splitscreen multiplayer and coop. I mean some of us have real friends that like to come over to my real house and play games together in my real living room. And every time they come over we're like "Hmmm. What can we all sit down and play together? Oh here's Resistance it has good coop! Oh wait we're sick of that one now. How about Uncharted 2. Oh wait we have to take turns. Oh, Oh how about some Dragon Age. Oh yeah it doesn't support it. Well there's always Resident Evil 5, that has coop. Nah, we're both bored to tears with that one now." That's what I'm talking about. I know uncharted 2 and some of these other PS3 exclusives are incredible i.e Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, but where is our splitscreen. I don't know I just think that Quantum Theory screams out for splitscreen and coop play and the fact that it just isn't going to be there is TOTALLY absurd to me.

I love Uncharted 2's online aspect, but hate the fact it has no split screen.

You can't have both, so both games rock my socks. I like all these games.

Now Uncharted is one of the most robust games I've ever played as far as gameplay, and I have a hard time comparing Gears of War's gameplay to Uncharted's for the very reasons everyone is stating. I don't expect the same from Gears - one is specialized and has co-op and the other executes diverse gameplay elements very well.

With that said...I absolutely love the Gears franchise on the 360. Along with Mass Effect, it is the only new franchise that has seriously caught my attention from the 360. For a multiplat to imitate its success should be understandable, just like with Dante's Inferno. And PS3 only owners that liked Gears (like me for now) can look forward to seeing how this title develops.

I'm going to pretend like the terrible Gears of War 2 never happened, and this is the official upgrade of Gears of War 1.

Unfortunately it is pretty dated in comparison to most games on the PS3, but it was a smart move by them also putting it on the 360 console, since they are sure to be the best looking and functional 360 game out there. It's a shame they couldn't cater to the PS3 technology and was limited by the 360, otherwise this game could have been something.

At least Dante's Inferno tried to set a standard. Dante's actually runs BETTER than God of War 3. Oops, did I just say that? YES! It runs at same resolution as GodofWar3 yet at a higher FPS, a solid 60fps.

I figure that in a few years we'll be playing on our Playstation 4s and Xbox 720s, and the company that makes Quantum Theory will be up to their third game, which they will talk about non stop and insist is the best game of it's type ever made in the history of gaming and that no other game like it can even compare.

In the mean time Gears of War 5 will be delayed again and again and again. Various demos and small versions of the game will come up to keep fans strung along until the real thing comes out and then a month before it's release it will be delayed yet again.

I was big Gears fan 1 and 2, I think the graphics look better than both Gears, and appears that character moves more fluid and quicker.

First of all, that gamepro article talks about "control scheme", not cover system(dumb *ss). 2nd, everyone knows the cover system from Uncharted was taken from Gears, not the other way around.

Stop posting articles to back up your biased opinions, just give 'em to us pure and unadulterated. That's the way he feels and guess what, so do I. Uncharted 2 had awesome setpieces and great animations, but inconsistent graphics where some colors and areas looked better than others.

Both are great games, no need to knock one to make the other look better. One is a great story-telling platformer, while another does competitive cover-based 3rd-person shooting right.

Some love Uncharted others love Gears. You wanna take it further then look at the numbers, they never lie.

gears series is so overated. controling the character is like controlling a US NAVAL ship. it is so slow its unbelivable. the aiming is garbage as well and people talked crap about killzone aiming when gears is actually the worst ever. the hoard mode in gears is not that good. i enjoyed nazis zombies more becuase everything is not slow and you can interact with the environment and actually move. gears has robocop movement lol. yall seen the robocop movies where he get messed up by anything faster then a turtle. uncharted has ironman movement. im jumping, climbing, hanging all fluidly and quick.

I don't mind a game ripping off another game so long as said game is good. Most recent game to come to mind as a blatant rip off. Darksiders, but they do it right. I absolutely love the game. Loved it from the minute I heard about 2 years ago; but this abomination of Quantam Theory looks to play horrible in my mind. I mean this looks to rip off gears and I guess they had the idea to change a few things such as camera angles the way he fires his gun, etc,. to make the game their own but in doing so it just looks piss poor in my opinion. I'm not even talking about graphics I'm just talking about the gameplay footage I've seen thus far.

Of course opinions are made to be changed. Hopefully this game can change my mind with the playing of a demo but as it stands now this game is a rental or a 10 dollar used pickup at best.

I'm a PS3 owner (well, I have a 360 but it got this ultra rare thing nobody ever gets known as the RROD and I never got it fixed) and I have to say this really does look like a Gears rip off. i kinda agree with you controlling the characters in uncharted feels alot more fluid , flexible and responsive and i love responsive control, but with gears you move so slow and stiff , tank like almost reminds me of the 1st RE game. but i wouldnt go as far to call gears one of of the worst games this gen as it is a very good game IMHO

your a soldier! in uncharted your just a regular man! try walking around with 50-100 lbs weight and see how fast you move. But for as slow as gears may feel to you its 2 times as fast as killzone 2.

Gears isn't about run and gun its stop and pop. No need to climb and do all that stuff. Also gears system does more than uncharted. gears supports coop splitscreen and you have more weapons and combat moves

dude, it shows both games at damn near identical angles. up close, where the texture detail matters when you examine something at close range, Gears looks worse than uC, throwing ur better texture argument out the window.

if you have some better pics of the game, by all means, show it. You claim it has better textures but have yet to provide any evidence, and since you are the one claiming it first, the burden of evidence lies on you.

yet Uncharted still has better textures and is still a better looking game overall. And when we compare sequel to sequel, its really no contest.

Gears is a great series but there is a reason why you don't see " will this game surpass Gear 2 visuals" any more, simply put, it already has with games like UC, Alan Wake and it will only get better. In fact, i don't even see any of the biggest 360 fanboys making the claim you are trying to make.

The game looks fine to me. The game looked like a Gears of War clone when it was PS3 exclusive and it looks like one now that it is multi-plat. BTW, this game was probably developed for the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD) and planned to be multi-platform from the get-go. It makes no sense for a third-party to clone a game and not sell it to the audience that is proven to love the original. Besides, in this environment it is so easy to get extra money.

It is such a simple formula.

Step One = Clone a popular 360 game and code it for the LCD and make it a PS3 exclusive.

Step Two = Wait for the check from Microsoft.

I am a PS3-first guy as much as anyone. Anyone saying this game looks bad to just full of it. Its clearly a Gears of War clone. Although it is not as much of a clone as Dante's Inferno is. Dante's Inferno is the most perfect clone ever. BTW, If you are a developer from Japan where no one makes shooters it is not a bad idea for your first game to be a clone.

I can see why most PS3 owners would not want a Gears of War "Clone", even the 360 owners would probably not want to play it.

But the first Gears of War was a great game and I enjoyed it very much. So why is it a big deal if this game was inspired by Gears? I mean did we even get to play it? Sure it might not look as good as Gears or Uncharted 2, but how do we know this game won't be fun to play? I know I'm looking forward to it cause I liked Gears and to me it looks like a fun game.

I also have a ps3, and can say that even though this game LOOKS AND PLAYS LIKE GEARS, I get the feeling that it just doesn't look inspired.

There is a difference between liking the game that brought a certain style to life and a clone that TRIES to be like that game. It's simply easier to appreciate the hard work that was used and seen to create a style then to gawk at an exact replica and be impressed.

They are not of the quality of gears yes!! but actually the levels are very colorful and unique. THe textures are also good but the levels are somewhat empty with very few stuff.

Anyways on game play borrowing from Gears is good it will work fine with me but the chick the protogonist is using is damn bad. I cant play this game in front of my friends they will be laughing. Thats some kids thing.

What I like is the their some parts of the trailer reminds of contra (the 2D one). Like fighting huge bosses while hanging, the sound of the guns. Better tecmo should should have gone in that route.

The shooting is like Gears, the artstyle is like Gears, Jump,Cover, char models, ect. This is just lazyniss on Tecmo's part. At least when other companies make a game using the Unreal Engine, they try to make it they're own, Bioshock, Mass Effect, SplinterCell, ect.
Tecmo, why are you makeing this anyway, where is DOA5? Ever since Itagaki left, this company has had no direction.
Also, is this running on the PS3? Unreal Engine is not suited best for PS3.
