PS3 Informer writes:
"The 2011 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG will appear on the cover of Gran Turismo 5 when the game ships later this year. The PlayStation 3 North American box art will feature a rear view of the car with its signature gull wing doors open, inviting the player inside to take it for a spin. Sony says the Mercedes SLS AMG was "chosen from a total of nearly 1000 cars recreated down to the finest detail" to be Gran Turismo 5's cover star.
Clearly, the Mercedes SLS can hold its own against a wide variety of other very competent sports cars. But the question Gran Tursimo fans will undoubtedly be asking themselves is, 'does it belong on the cover of the world's definitive driving simulator?'"
Backward compatibility works for many games on newer consoles, but titles such as The Simpsons: Hit and Run have been left out.
From base building to swinging willies, here are the best survival games around, which include a couple of less than obvious picks.
It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.
Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.
They're scum.
"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."
Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.
Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.
But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?
Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.
I think it does not deserve the cover spot, for one simple reason.
While it is an expensive, exotic car, it is based on a retro model. This car is looking backwards in time, rather than forwards. Maybe they should have put an electric hybrid on the cover?!?

I can think of numerous questions i`d ask myself regarding GT. One of them most certainly is not "does it belong on the cover".
I don't think it does. Does anybody know it's US release?
I think it does. It might not be the best car in the game but it's one of the most saught after cars with it's mix of retro and new age design. I honestly feel pleased with the choice to go along with the SLS as the 458 is an excellent car but interms of design and tech i'd choose the SLS.
I dont really care whats on the cover. I wont be playing the cover. But for what its worth I do like the cover.
