Dark Void demo removed from EU PS Store

PS3-Sense writes: "The first PS Store update for 2010 brought us the demo of Capcom's newest action/adventure game Dark Void. But when we looked into the European PS Store, we couldn't find the demo anymore today.

While the demo of Dark Void is shown in the XMB-menu under "What's New", it's still not downloadable. We just getting the error code: (80023111)."

If you go into the PSN store it should be there. From what I know the error code only means the preview link is broken....

Woofer5224d ago

We can't find it in the Store and the error code is correct

andron5224d ago (Edited 5224d ago )

But it's still up here in Norway, so claiming the demo is down in all of Europe may be a bit hasty. I'm sure you got that error code, but the error codes are tricky since they have different permutations....

Edit: Actually I found this error code: http://community.eu.playsta...

???
I live in Europe, I downloaded it yesterday, the game was complete cr@p and I deleted it after 10 minutes.
It's still here and I can still download as far as I can see. Maybe the problem exists in some countries...

mikeslemonade5224d ago

If you're saying it's worst Dante's Inferno i'm not going to even try out the demo.

dead_eye5224d ago

same here vasilisk. was only on my hard drive for 10 mins.

yoghurt5224d ago

Tried it, thought it was rubbish.

riksweeney5224d ago

I agree, I was quite looking forward to playing this, but after about 5 minutes I switched it off and deleted it.

It was nothing like I thought it was going to be.

The flying is very badly handled, reminiscent of the Iron Man game. I actually thought they'd just be a bit of jetpacking with most of the action taking place on foot.

The biggest annoyance was trying to lock on to a moving target, since there's no feature to do this you have to manually turn the character around (with the crappy controls) and try and lock onto it again to fire. The evasion move doesn't really do anything except to stop you from being shot up for a few moments.

DARK WITNESS5224d ago

Ya, i have to say I agree.

I liked the concept but man the demo didn't feel like it was giving me a reason to like it or buy it.

For a big start I really wish a lot of these devs would try something other then unreal3. I know it boils down to cost and ease of use, but unreal is really hurting a lot of these games in my opinion.

apart from epic and a very few studios, most games using the engine just look horrible.

BeaArthur5224d ago

Make it unanimous, I was thoroughly underwhelmed.

Bargu5224d ago

@2.1

I did the same thing, i could not play for more than 5 minutes, this demo is crap, don't waste time with this..

Ether5224d ago

Got room for another?

I thought the demo was not enjoyable at all. Definite no-buy.

DARK WITNESS5224d ago

lol, sounds like the vote has been thrown in...

Capcom will be disappointed again with a western dev.

it's shame cos in the vids the game really looked good, but on screen.... another story.

nix5224d ago (Edited 5224d ago )

i just hope the game has the next gen graphics, greatly polished etc. the disadvantage of playing only PS3 exclusive games most of the time is that you find even a good 3rd party games average.

ABizzel15224d ago

The game is far from rubbish, but it takes A LOT of time to master flying, and if you don't put that time in then you're not going to like the game.

I've looked at the gameplay videos for a long time and it looked so boring, but after playing the game I can say it's not as boring as I thought. The problem is that the flying (while probably the most realistic) is to hard, and everyone will not be able to pick it up or want to take the time to learn it. Gamers have gotten lazy with each generation, and Capcom made a choice that's going to isolate a lot of gamers, by not having a simple flying mechanic.

Graphically the game look decent, music is good (demo music sounds like Heavenly Sword), Voice work is good (the main character sound kind of Like Nathan Drake), and the air gameplay is pretty good, but the ground gameplay is lackluster (shooting and flying in a open space isn't easy).

Graphics- 8 (nothing special, but everything runs good)

Sound- 8.5

Gameplay- 8 (a mixed bag mainly good, but there's a STEEP learning curve)

Fun Factor- 8 (there's fun to be had if you learn the flying mechanics)

Online- There should have been online for this game, not having it makes it an even harder sell for gamers.

Overall- 8.1

A good game, but they should have had the flying similar to Warhawk.

Cheeseknight285224d ago

I'm gonna file Dark Void under the same place as Bionic Commando, Turok, Too Human, Far Cry 2, Fracture, etc. All of them have a great hook, but none were executed properly. Dark Void is better than the rest though.

I can't say I care much for what little story I saw in the demo though. When the dialogue starts off thus, I cringe a bit:

"What is that thing?" Immediately followed by...

"Can it fly?"

Why would anyone's first reaction to foreign tech be asking if it can fly? He clearly didn't know it was it was, but within 5 seconds did. Ugh.

chewmandinga5223d ago

...or is the voice of Drake in yet another game??

madmonkey05224d ago

ive just downloaded it from the EU store about 5 minutes ago. im from the UK

BeaArthur5224d ago

In another 5 minutes you will be deleting it.

kingme715224d ago

This game had a good bit of press middle of last year and then it got quiet. Still pretty quiet for a game coming out in 11 days. I think Capcom realized it was not going to do well and has given it less of a marketing budget. Capcom also recently released that statement about its disinterest now in working with devs outside of Japan. Maybe Dark Void was one of those games that helped fuel this feeling. GamePro gave it a 60.

Eh? I'm downloading this very minute...

Dark Void is a pretty decent game, I have it on disc for PS3 but hey... I'll grab it digitally to play on my Series S. Hard Corps Uprising is a freaking sweet (and hard) game. I've had that for a while and still cannot beat it.

Supernintendo851125d ago

@darthv72 Jesus Christ LOL, how on earth could you be downvoted for your opinion of the two games that are decent? This community sometimes i swear...

darthv721125d ago

It must be those that have beaten Hard Corps Uprising. That is their way of telling me I need to get good.

RazzerRedux1125d ago

Maybe they are downvoting because they disagree with his opinion.

Fritzwochel1125d ago

This is why sites like Reddit are trash. They auto-punish users who gets downvoted - thus if you have an opinion other than the poitical correct majoirty, you're getting all sorts of blocks.

CrimsonWing691125d ago

I'm all in for Dark Void and Hard Corps, but look... people have opinions. Maybe a majority of peeps don't agree with his opinion so they hit the disagree button, I don't know it makes sense to me.

Silly gameAr1125d ago (Edited 1125d ago )

@Supernintentendo

Best thing to do is not worry about those little arrows below your comment, and just say want you feel. You'll be much better off when you don't care about yours or soomebody else's downvotes.

On topic, I also have Dark Void for PS3, and it was pretty decent. Good enough for at least a playthrough.

PapaBop1124d ago

Since when do people care about votes on here? Everyone on here knows darthv72 is an xbox guy, he'd get more disagrees for saying white is white and black is black.

The Wood1124d ago (Edited 1124d ago )

Some people act like someone spat in their faces or they're credit score would be impacted. Some people don't agree.... .life huh

IGN said, "Dark Void is one of those games you'll play, beat, and forget ever existed."
Exactly my experience.

andron1125d ago

Dark Void possibly killed my phat launch PS3, with countless crashes and slowdown. So I have mixed feelings about that one lol. Mediocre game at best, and runs terrible on PS3. Hopefully the 360 version is better...

Chevalier1125d ago

Loved Hard Corps! But yeah get better 😆. By the time you unlock all the abilities you it just gets easier. Makes me wish they would continue with Hard Corps.

boing11124d ago

Yeah, Dark Void was pretty decent. Nolan North voiced main hero AFAIR.

Legit cringe when MS promotes Achievements and GamerScore. Sad state of affairs for them to be that desperate.

RosweeSon1124d ago

Making out those games are still worth $129.99 is bad enough 😑🤣 yeah maybe 10 years ago. Worth about 12.99 these days 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣 ✌🏻

Father__Merrin1125d ago

Lol the Austria leak was fake then. This looks better than last months which was rubbish

"monitor tire wear..."

Yeah, that's what I want out of a video game. /s

What have they got in store for next month, Vehicle Inspection Sticker: The Game?

DOMination-1125d ago

It's a racing game.

It's no different than monitoring your health bar in an FPS or the time you spend watching a cutscene rather than playing.
