lol, thebigbagof****. who are you?

Better change the name from N4G to R4G (Rants 4 Gamers).

pixelsword5249d ago

He's they guy who broke several stories in the gaming industry.

He also gets interviews with some of the biggest people in the gaming industry.

mikeslemonade5249d ago

No chance Splinter Cell or Alan Wake will look better than Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2 looks so good that it spoils the experience of other games. I play Assasins Creed 2 after Uncharted 2 and AC2 was just unappealing to my eyes.

Lifendz5249d ago

between what he's ranting about and some guys in a forum discussing what sports team is better and why? Yeah it's not exactly a debate on fine literature with smoke filled rooms and brandy, but it's just harmless discussion. I don't get why Tor is even so upset about the "system [blank] is better than whatever system" talk. If you like sports and don't get into the fan v. fan trash talking does that trash talk deflect from your enjoyment of the game? No. Same is true here.

People can talk about whatever they want so long as they observe the law and the TOS of whatever site they use. Either join the conversation or ignore it.

mikeslemonade5249d ago

My thing is why does Torrence Davis continue to dive into the forums gets mad at being pissed off. I hope he continues to do it though because he creates entertainment with his videos, shows, and podcasts.

Anon19745248d ago (Edited 5248d ago )

To me, this is no different then cheering for a sports team. Is it irrational? Of course it is. But it's harmless.

Fans are enthusiasts. Fans can get into heated arguments about Star Trek versus Star Wars. Is that something that needs to be ranted about?

Now if you were a fan of a sports team, and some company spokesman who made balls for your sport came out and started bashing your particular team for unfounded reasons - wouldn't you expect the fans of that team to have something to say about this, especially when the manufacturer is founded by members of the rival team?

And here comes Torrence. "Hey you guys. Why do you care? You shouldn't be emotionally attached to anything, ever. It's dumb."

What? If you thought that, why would you even waste your breath on these guys? You're just a fan of nobody being fans of anything. Posting rants about it makes you guilty of the exact same thing you're criticizing others of. Have you no idea how hypocritical this is?

SilentNegotiator5248d ago

He has a Wii on in the background and a SOCOM Confrontation poster.

He'd probably understand if he had better taste.

during the early days of the PS3 where there were not many games and not to mention that multiplats almost always looked worst than the 360 and during the time when 360 has so many highly rated games ie 2007, it was all about "the 360 is the best gaming console", "PS3 has no games" "PS3 is doomed", "PS3 is a movie player" etc!

now that the Ps3 is selling well and has plenty of high profile games and not to forget the best looking console games available and still maintaining the free PSN, suddenly it is about "It's Just a Piece of Technology"! - what a BIG FAT JOKE!

yeah sure it's just a piece of technology and Uncharted 2 is just another games being released into the market but this is not about being just another one. it's an "achievement"! to not appreciate and playing down what the Sony team has achieved with the PS3 and its games is showing the true color of fanboyism inside you! sure you can be a dedicated 360 fan as you will but tell me if you would rather play the same rehashed games one after another with near to no improvement and pay full price for it ala MW2, GH, L4D2, ODST? I'd rather stop gaming if there's nothing new that the gaming media can offer me to amaze me every once in a while!

Persistantthug5247d ago

Why? Because console wars are interesting to me. Certainly and obviously, it is interesting to many other people as well. People are passionate about this topic and they like debating it. I can see how to some, it might be pointless and trivial, and truly in the grand scheme of life, it may be so. But in the context of entertainment, how is CONSOLE WARS any different from LAKERS vs. CELTICS arguements from the 80's? How is Console Wars any different from Ford vs. Chevy? Mercedes vs BMW. How is it any different from heated debates of Yankees vs. Red Sox? (You being from the Boston area, I threw that one in because I'm sure you can relate to that one.) Fundamentally, it's the same argument in a different skin, and it serves a form of entertainment and fun for those that like it. Who in the freak are you to deprive me and others of their fun? Who in the hell appointed you the "entertainment maker/killer"?

If you don't like Console Wars, fine...but don't tell me my choice of entertainment is degenerative. My entertainment is for me and those that enjoy it and you are no one important enough to dictate whats good or bad.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Oh...and Valve is an overrated Mod Maker and they should shut up and admit that they get paid incentivised by Microsoft.
*wink*

tordavis5247d ago

Don't get me wrong, fanboys are sometimes entertaining. The console war is here to stay. My point is, if you want to argue consoles, do it with facts, not opinion. That's all. I asked the question about Uncharted 2 because honestly, no one can answer it. It's like someone saying Van Gogh's The Bedroom at Arles is the most beautiful painting ever made. Is that fact or opinion? It's opinion. With Uncharted 2, people are passing it as FACT that it's the best looking video game ever made and that's my issue. I had the same problem back in 2006 when people said Gears 2 was the best looking. Problem was, the PS3 had just came out and I didn't even have a forum to speak about it. I take every game at face value. That's how I work. I really don't like to compare. I'm still having trouble choosing best graphics of the year and I have to do it this weekend.

NotSoSilentBob5247d ago

I think you mean Gears of War 1 not 2. Gears 2 was released Nov 12th 2008 and was in competition with Resistance 2 sales wise.

More often than not people are a product of their environment and the gaming media has become a cesspool. They fuel this nonsense and most of the time encourage it. I find myself steering clear or the gaming media more and more. I can't even remember the last time I "thoroughly" read a review or an opinion of any site.

I mostly just drop by here to see if there is any "actual gaming news". Announcements, upcoming title releases, new IP's, new perps, patches, etc. Today all the gaming media cares about is the marketing dollars which entails them to get traffic by any means possible. That means is usually to write the most controversial inflammatory trash they can come up with.

BTW I just skimmed through your video. Had a lot of things going on in the background with my kids being on holiday break and having a house full. I don't really see how saying Uncharted 2 is the best looking game (thus far) is merely an opinion of a fanboy when nearly everyone (gamers, media, non gamers, video calibration sites, etc) that has seen the game all agree it's the best looking game this gen.

I have all the systems (game mostly on my 360) and I am an HT enthusiast as well. I personally haven't seen a better looking game this gen. Technically there might be more advanced games (most of which are on the PS3. Not a PC gamer so I'm only talking consoles here.) but not an overall better visual quality than UC2.

The 360 is inferior to the PS3's graphic capabilities and I can't see how anyone can honestly dispute that or why they would. I understand what you are saying about opinions but it's a fact and not an opinion.

Persistantthug5247d ago

Even if you wanted to argue, hypothetically, that Super Mario Bros. (NES) looks better than Uncharted 2., No one could argue with you. Rather, they could argue, but no one could prove you wrong. I'm no fool and I'm in total agreement with you on that point brah.

But here's where you've failed to calculate....TECHNICAL GRAPHICAL ACHIEVEMENT.
When we are talking tech. graphics, we are typically talking about polygons, shading and lighting effects, texture resolutions, pixel counts, etc etc. Those are things that can in fact be measured, calculated, and compared.

With that, Uncharted 2 is the most technically-graphically advanced console game to date. Uncharted 2 is a technical marvel and is the benchmark for console graphics tech. It is the current crowning point achievement. XBOX 360 has not had such a game since Gears of War 1 in 2006. PS3 is technologically superior to XBOX 360 and can produce games that that the 360 cannot without compromise.
That is a fact.

If you want to claim Gears of War looks better to you, then it is ok to cling to that opinion...I will not call you an idiot. Others might...but I will not. lol

I think I should start joining you on your LIVE Warzone's...apparently I could set some of you straight.
*wink*
Take care Torrence, and I gave you a bubble just on the strength.
later.

You surprise me I always thought you where someone who was intelligent and informed when it came to video games, but on some things your obviously confused. First of all very few people argue whether Uncharted 2 is the best looking game because that is SUBJECTIVE, but when we say that Uncharted 2 has the best graphics of any console game than thats a FACT. Because graphics are polygon counts, draw distance, objects on screen, effects (particle, snow, smoke, ext), textures, frame rate, ext. Its all numbers basically. Its like me saying that 4 +4 is 8 and you saying its 6, It wouldn't matter that you thought it was 6 because the fact still remains that its 8. The same goes for graphics there OBJECTIVE. I think your confusing graphics with art style.

Edit: just realized the guy above me said basically the same thing only a bit better lol.

Yes.

Torrence, if your tired of all this fanboy sh*t, I'm sorry for you because it's not going to stop. I though I had reached my limit a few months ago, but realized that it's not going anywhere. The internet has created a beast, even regular fans are being turned into fanboys.

deadreckoning6665248d ago (Edited 5248d ago )

@darkride- I don't thk fanboyism is as harmless as you make it seem, the open zone is proof of that. I,ve seen arguments about which console is better that turn into personal attacks. In sports, its good to cheer for one team, but its NOT okay to hate on others for being fans of the other team. There is NO POSSIBLE way that fanboyism can be a good thing. Also, don't you think its odd that people get so worked up when a negative opinion of Uncharted 2 pops up? I don't see this with Mario or Halo fanboys. Why do PS3 fanboys believe that they need to attack anyone who has a negative opinion on the PS3? I own a PS3 but I wouldn care if some said U2 was crap. It wouldnt affect my personal enjoyment of the game, therefore, why care what others think?

n4gno5248d ago

Don't be hypocrit, you know that xbox fans are the worst since 2006, they are allways downplaying the best games on ps3, even when they are GOTY and graphicly really superior to anything else on 360, and each time they are doing that, they are also crying and call him a fanboy, when someone tell the facts.

by the way, they are also worst when someone just say the truth, or give opinions, about games like halo (games that you can't compare with jewel like uncharted or others big ps3 titles)

Fanboyism is when someone downplay the best games, or functionalities, machine, because it's PS3 related, not when people respond to their craps (and you know that since 3 years, we have seen a lot of craps)

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow4d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1824d ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie3d ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere3d ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

OtterX4d ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney2d ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno4d ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno4d ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

3d ago
fsfsxii3d ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno3d ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
