MS: '50 Live Arcade games by year end'

Last week Microsoft put some order into Live Arcade by announcing Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays, a new promotion which - funnily enough - sees Live Arcade receiving new titles on Wednesdays. Things jumped into action with Frogger appearing on Arcade on July 12, and so far it's been announced that Frogger will be followed by Cloning Clyde, Galaga, Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting and Pac-Man.

But naturally the Wednesday Live Arcade fun won't end there and according to Xbox Live Arcade group manager Greg Canessa Microsoft is targeting 30 Arcade titles "by the end of summer" and 50 "by the end of the calendar year."

Xbox Live Arcade group manager Greg Canessa Microsoft is targeting 30 Arcade titles "by the end of summer" and 50 "by the end of the calendar year." However, Canessa noted that he cannot guarantee that a new title will hit every week.

Funny how they never mentioned 30 titles by the end of the year total, nice little PR spin MS but I gottcha. Even still they'll never make that number cuase even MS said they cannot garantee this propagada their spewing out.

i don't know why they would say that unless they have releases planned, but we will see.

and when exactly did MS say:

"they cannot garantee this propagada their spewing out."

"..there may be a week that we skip and then a week where we release two titles," he said.
More new Live Arcade titles are set to be announced before the last of the initial five, Pac-Man, hits on August 9. We'll let you know when more Arcade games crop up."

Sounds like they have it planned out to me!

They said 30 by end of summer. We have like 25 arcade games already. Basically 1 arcade game a week from now on will lead to over 50 arcade games by year end.

to me. Hey i remember i read in an article some days ago a microsoft exec. responsible for arcade telling a reporter that they were swamped by the entries they were getting. Its all well to take any report with a grain of salt but we must remeber MS is not only targeting the Large multimillion dollar gaming houses for content but the small time programmer/creator for the next greatest hit as well.
