Gameztraffic: Hyperballoid HD Review

The fundamental problem with Hyperballoid is the pace of the gameplay, or rather the lack of pace. The bat and ball is criminally slow, you actually lose concentration not due to multiple distractions, but because you mind has wandered away from the action, desperately searching for any measly form of stimulation other than this. To compound this the levels containing the bricks are huge meaning not only does it go slowly, but when the ball hits the bricks it takes an absolute age to destroy them all. It's almost like the game itself realizes this as when only a few bricks remain a gem comes down the screen to warp to the next level.

Gamer 2.0 writes: "With a number of games with twists to the brick-breaking formula having appeared on PSN in the past year, it’s surprising to see that nothing more traditional has been released on PSN in the last three years. Hyperballoid HD is the new PS3 iteration of a PC line of Arkanoid clones from Alawar Entertainment, which offers about 100 new levels for just $4.99. While the game is cheap, it does come with some unfortunate issues that keep it from being a perfect purchase for a cheap price."
