Aeropause: Rogue Warrior (PC) Review

Aeropause writes: "How many times have you read about a movie not being screened for critics? In the industry, this is a normal practice, because it means that the movie is probably no good, and the studio does not want to hurt initial weekend ticket sales. Yeah, I had a feeling that Bethesda was going to take this route with Rogue Warrior, which has had little to no press since E3, and most sites had written the game off as a shallow FPS, with little to no value for the consumer. However, Bethesda was nice enough to send over a copy of Rogue Warrior to review, but it wasn't sent until after the release date, prompting the above comparison. X360A: Rogue Warrior Review

From time to time, developers will pull the plug on a game for any number of reasons. Maybe the funding isn't there, or the game isn't up to snuff. Sometimes games will shift from one developer to another before hitting shelves, as is the case with Rogue Warrior. Originally handled by Zombie Studios, publisher Bethesda took them off the project because they weren't satisfied with the direction the game was taking, handing the reigns over to Rebellion. Bethesda should have cut their losses and put Rebellion's effort out to pasture permanently, as nothing Zombie could have done could be as awful as the final product on parade here.

GamePro: Rogue Warrior Review

GamePro writes: "I first saw Rogue Warrior two years ago when it was originally announced. Bethesda held an event in Las Vegas and Richard Marcinko was on hand to show off the game. While it was in an early stage, the game showed promise, offering a Rainbow Six-esque experience that relied on tactics and teamwork. The promise of four-player co-op with drop-in/drop-out capabilities was also intriguing but what stole the show was Demo Dick himself: He was friendly and affable but he had the air of someone who had seen and done things most of us can only have nightmares about. His life story is incredibly interesting and should have served as a potent source of material, but as you will plainly see, Rogue Warrior fails to live up to that potential."
