In-depth Dead Space 2 Info and images

Rely on Horror writes: "Three years have passed since the events of the original Dead Space. It seems poor Isaac can't get a break. He escaped alive from the Ishimura, but his mind came off twisted and haunted by the monsters he thought he escaped from. His task isn't finished though. The necromorphs thought to be terminated have resurfaced for some unknown reason, but not on some lowly illegal mining ship. The break-out is taking place on a largely populated space station which has no suspecting idea what's going on. The government has some massive scheme once again related to the Marker, and Isaac is the only man who knows how to kill these things, so Isaac is back to take on terror upon the massive space Station, the Sprawl..."

Sorry, sounds cool though

joemayo765273d ago

i don't understand why in one of the promo shots is he STILL using that damn mining gun, if he knows what he's facing this time and not confined to a mining ship why use it ???

i kno i'm being overly picky on minor details but i just don't see the point

other than that can't wait to play this :)

Guido5273d ago

It's the gun I used most in the first one. Hope they have all the old tools as well as new ones.

Hellsvacancy5273d ago

Im a massive fan of the 1st game half of its success was that it didnt hav any hype, where as this DS2 is the opposite, i dont think its gonna b as good as the original

RankFTW5273d ago

Maybe you just didn't pay enough attention, I was mega hyped for the first one.

DARK WITNESS5273d ago

@ joemayo76

well, if you follow the story and comics etc, you will remember at the beginning they talk about the only being able to kill them by cutting off the limbs.

now i am only thinking hyperthetically, but if i was to put my mind in issacs shoes I would be thinking;

cutting tools work better so i would keep hold of them. I mean i get what you mean, I would expect the military to have some kick a$$ weapons big enough to completely make a mess of them.

it's just a little detail, but lets wait and see how the story goes.

it sounds like it's going to be great though, i just hope they don't mess it up though.

monkey6025273d ago

Hellsvacancy. Between me and my friends the first game had a huge amount of hype. We were replaying trailers like the lullaby one over and over and anxiously counting down the days to release and not once did that sspoil the end game

DARK WITNESS5273d ago

great read. I have to say I am a bit worried about some of the direction... but i will give them the benefit for now.

I don't personally think the controls need changing, but lets see how they want to improve it.

interesting what they said about the graphics, I thought dead space was one of the most underrated games graphically of 2008. I thought it had great lighting and textures. overall I thought it looked a lot better then some of the exclusives that came out the same year and even this year.. though i won't mention them so i don't start a flame war!

it was one of the best looking games this gen from a technical point and an art style point of view as well.

multiplayer worries me the most. ok, maybe it could work, but it sounds like the team already have so much to do. I really don't think the game needs it.

I love dead space the way i love Halo CE ( if you have read my halo comments you will know how much of a deal this is for me ) I really, really hope they don't mess it up. It is my favorite new IP this gen so far.

I really don't want to see it fail.

Make it epic !

Guido5273d ago

No hype? Sorry but what were the comics all about? What were the videos we downloaded from the PSN or Live about? Sorry but I thought that the game was hyped quite a bit. The difference was that it was hyped correctly and not by some ad on a can of mountain dew.

ABizzel15273d ago

I like the new look of the Necromorphs. They look more human this time around instead of globs of flesh.

Sure hope Capcom pays attention. DS > RE5

LittleBigSackBoy5273d ago

DS got boring for me. I'm looking forward to RE6 more than DS2.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel37d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel36d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia37d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda37d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long36d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto36d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long36d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?

13 Years Later, Dead Space 2 Is Still A Perfect Video Game

Nameer from eXputer: "Dead Space 2 is a sequel that delivers such a feast that by the time you're done, you're not only full but also satisfied."

Aaroncls756d ago

It was amazing. All 3 DS games game solid for me, but 2 was special.

hombreacabado56d ago

i can do without ds3 but the first two are solid.

mariopasta56d ago

Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection

Terry_B56d ago

thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.

I had no idea that Bad Company 2 was still running, and only now that I know, I want to jump on! 😥

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

DaReapa159d ago

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

Inverno159d ago

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

1nsomniac159d ago (Edited 159d ago )

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

anast158d ago

Once people stop buying micros, these companies close the doors.

Xenial158d ago

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
