Darksiders Another Perfect 10 Title

I just don't see this 'OMG 10/10' game everyone is talking about. Sure it is trying to do a ton of things at once, but can it do all that right and be fun?

Also last I heard there was no demo... I hope they change their mind and I hope its amazing. More good games, the better.

I have been following this game a long time. I love the Zelda/Brawler look to it. My only fear is that it will be short. I hope that is not the case... Otherwise I am totally sold day one =D

Ive seen one gameplay vid that didnt really impress me and i dont know much about the story to this game. only reason i was considering this game is because mark hamill was doing one of the main voices

I have been since it was announced. But to be honest neither this or Bayonetta seem like 10 type games. That is not to say they aren't going to be great experiences, just not perfect.

The mechanics look very similar to DMC. Seems like it's got some awesome production behind it, but I hope the fighting system in Bayonetta doesn't make this look obsolete... or maybe I just haven't seen all the characters in Darksiders.

The aesthetic's definitely not my thing so far, but it looks like a solid title. I'm sure that it's a load better than Beast Rider.

Meh I watched the 10 minute video and it looks dated, I mean it's not even free roaming from what I have seen. Infamous looks better then this and it came out months ago.

GTA 4 is a 8.5 being very generous.

Darksiders look pretty interesting. Keep the info coming. If his game is awesome, it will be an april/may purchase, in order to mitigate the summer drought and avoid bankruptcy :)

Yeah, I still don't see to this day why GTA4 got such high scores. It was one of the only games I've sold back this generation - it's fun for a while, but the casual targeting mechanic makes it get really boring very quickly.

Agree Reap. Too many sites either over-score or under-score a game to be taken seriously. Play and Edge are both examples out of many that can't be trusted at all.

@Kain - I understand what you're saying, I think, but it just sounds hilarious the way it came out. Any for-profit media company is going to be an attention whore - come on, Edge is one of the last print-format magazines left, of course they're going to want attention! Attention is money.

What I don't like is the blatant sensationalism that's going on in some editorial circles. Sometimes it does seem like a few members of the games press are compromising their integrity to gain hits.

Hopefully when readers grow up (I wonder if we already have... that would be sad considering what happens in these forums sometimes) and see the difference between good and bad press, the guys selling their stories will grow up with them, but that's hoping for a lot...

Darksiders is a triple A action adventure, it is focused on combat and exploration; with high production values and a strong art direction this game could really be a megahit.

Recent updates to the game have improved the visuals greatly and it is not a sandbox title, but a hybrid that allows you to tackle objective areas and dungeons at your own pace.

Some sources are indeed confirming the game is amazing; let's hope it actually is when we finally get to play it.

From what I've played, Darksiders is a typical God of War-like without an inch of innovation, but the chara-design and the level-design is sublime and the game is pretty polished. What I found cheap was the fact that, like Dante's Inferno, creatures are pretty long to kill and I fear a way to improve the game length. So if it was only because the part I've played was harder than usual, everything is all right, otherwise it risks to be a pretty short game.

It's plain as day as it's a game that's nowhere near "perfect." You don't even need to play it as just from a technical standpoint it looks generic. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it very well may be fun as hell but 10/10? No.

I have this prepaid.....I'm a HUGE Mad fan. I am also a massive fan of these action/adventure games. So a "10" to me might be an "8" to someone else. To me, I look at review numbers as representing the amount of fun one will have - not how perfect framerates are or how easy a menu is to use. Too much BS is wrapped up in the checklist and it not always represents the fun factor.

DMC4 is a prime example - everything ways there, but poor level design (backtracking) and not going with Dante - the reason the fans play DMC series.

Anyhow, I LOVE Bayonetta (imported)....but it's FAR from perfect on PS3. So don't waste your time peeps on reviews.

It will suck because, "It's not even open world free roaming"....Hahahah, is that why COD:MW2 is such an inferior game to Far Cry 2. Free roaming open world games can get frustrating as hell...take the whole GTA series for example....even in the fourth iteration on new consoles they still have me traversing half the damn countryside if I die through a mission to get back to the mission giver, then I also have to go 5mins across the map to get back to the point I died at...Then if I fail again..guess what..I have to do the whole lot all over...What were Rockstar thinking doing this again with GTA4. Mafia 2 looks to be better as it focuses on mission structure and FUN. Darksiders looks awesome to me, I suggest all you naysayers take another look and open your eyes this time. It is reported to be a hybrid of Soul Reaver, God Of War, Zelda and DMC all in one and done very well. It is pretty much already bought for me.

But then I had a chance to play an early version of it at E3 and was not impressed. The gameplay felt like God of war 2, and the visuals weren't that much better than that game either, which isn't a bad thing at all, as GOW 2 is one of the best games ever, but it's still last Gen and with no solid improvements to distinguish it. Where it really seemed to be lacking was the pacing, I guess since it was a demo and I only played for 20 mins, I didn't have a sense of what I was doing, so it just felt like I was running around killing things while not knowing why or whether or not I was accomplishing some goal. This is probably going to be very different in the real game, but I like games that provide a real cinematic experience, and if the visuals as well as the pacing have not seriously improved since the time that I played it, I'm not going to invest in it beyond maybe a rental. From what experience I've had with it, I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves games like GOW and who don't really care about a games story, but that's speaking from a very limited experience. The truth is that there are too many games coming out that I know with near certainty will be better than this game based on my tastes, and I don't hold the rating of this Play magazine in high regard at all. I don't even know how they got their hands on this game so early, usually IGN is the first to get a review out (not that they are to be trusted either). I wouldn't be surprised to find that Play was given an advanced copy for agreeing to give the game a high score.

is that certain people only think there game of choice deserves a high score, it's like people do not want the bar raising for fear it will tople there chosen leader, I mean I really enjoyed Modern Warfare 2 but for a single player game it was too short, the multiplayer is exellent but I think the 1st iteration was better, so I would love to think that the new battlefield will be much better, also I have not played ODST because I wanted a new engine, it might be a great game but just not for me anymore, it's all down to personal tastes, I mean they could release Zelda after Zelda and if they are all like Ocarina then I suppose the engine is not that important but personal choice is, I hope Darksiders rocks because the more good games the better.
