2010 looks to be another exciting year for game development. Here are the top games The Gamer Report has on its radar that has the most potential to make an impact on the gaming industry and on gamers in 2010.

Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 are spot on, most anticipated games of 2010, picking them up on PS3. I think next years gonna be my multiplatform year, out of all confirmed 2010 PS3 exclusives I'm not terribly interested in any of them.

PS3 fanboys seem to have read too much into this. No one said biggest impact in 2010. I agree these games are not known to be super hyped and will make an impact, making names for themselves.

Over 1,000 cars (not 900 like you said)
Over 65 unique track locations, unlike Forza 3's mere 20 unique tracks

But I will say this, the biggest selling games of 2010 are going to be Gran Turismo 5 and Halo Reach. The sales of those two games combines will exceed the sales of any other high-profile game in 2010. I guarantee it.

GT5 is on a whole other league. im not saying it will be better or more real than forza as a racing game sine we are talking about the impact it might have and not the quality. everyone who did play console games on past gen consoles KNOWS GT. and it doesnt even matter which those pple played as core games. heck i usually HATE racing games EXCEPT of GT. ive played the old versions and i look forward what GT5 will deliver.

srsly the article about GT extend times is so true: GT was made from the perspective of loving CARS, not games. in the end thats one of the franchises which had and probably will have the biggest impact of a videogame influencing nonvideogamers (if they dont totally screw up GT5 which is quite unlikely). that alone makes it THE game with THE impact in 2010.

It is. But 360 owners haven't been fortunate enough to have a title like God of War. It's not like God of War will ever be released on the 360 so this is the next best thing.

I enjoyed the first Mass Effect. But I don't think it was as good as everyone made it out to be, so the inevitable sequel did not make my list. I don't feel like stopping the gameplay again every time I want my AI partners to perform an action. It got way too repetitive.

Final Fantasy is not the type of game that appeals to me.

If you're going to make a list of games that will make an impact it shouldn't matter whether or not the game interests you. The fact that you don't like a particular game doesn't mean it won't make an impact.

take it as a helpful comment. im not sure what the objective of the news/blog was. but if you tried to make a list of games with an impact for real. then it should be not biased by subjective likings. instead it should be about the probability how big the games actually can or will shift gamers/sales/opinions/genres -> thus having an impact in some sort of way.

for e.g.: i didnt play or try mw2 yet nor am i sure i will. but every idiot can see that it has the biggest impact worldwide as a game this year. doesnt mean that its the goty or that it has the best quality. just that it has created a lot of talk and change compared to other games...

TBH the only game that'll be making an impact for 360 in 2010 will be REACH, in 365 days. The 360's deathday.

For me I'll be buying all the exclusives first before multiplats for my TripleAstation.

The biggest game of 2010 will be Halo Reach. No question about that. Don't even try to argue about it. GT5 comes in a close second. So both have at least 2 big hitters. But the 360 has a bigger list of AAA franchises coming out than Sony. I can only think of GT5 and God of War 3 for Sony.

Like I said, every Halo game has gotten rave reviews from RESPECTED GAMING GIANTS. Halo ODST got 9 and above from all the respected gaming journalists. If you look at the bottom of the list you get unknown nooby sites trying to get hits.

9 and above: IGN, Gamepro, Gamespot, Play Magazine, 1up, GameInformer, Official Xbox Magazine.

7 and less: Wonderwallweb??? Teletext Gaming Central??? Gaming Nexus??? The Onion??? Gamer's Hell???

The last GT4 only sold around 10 million with an install base of 100 million. Halo 3 has already surpassed that. Nice fail there dude.

This article missed a lot of the big ones, particularly Final Fantasy, Halo and Gran Turismo. Not sure what the point was in making a list of games that can save the gaming industry's economy in 2010 and failing to include what will easily be the biggest sellers.

well its not said what the list includes...
but as far as it goes now its limited to xbox360 titles.

if it would have included pc games id say sc2 too! this game might redefine the rts genre again. it has the potential to be the next real competitive esport game out there.

though its not clear that sc2 will be released in 2010 aight? its done when its done. same procedure as every game with the beloved blizzard studios ^^
