PS Blog:
"November 26 will be a very special day for all of us here at Guerrilla. On that day, exactly five years ago, the very first Killzone title for PlayStation 2 hit the shelves in Europe. Sure, the game had already been released in the US three weeks prior, but hey…Guerrilla is based in the Netherlands. We commemorate the 26th because that's the date that we were finally able to see the fruits of our labor in Dutch stores"
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
The first Killzone game never met lofty expectations of dethroning Xbox’s Halo, but if any game needs a PS5 remake, this is the one.
I like Halo, but I don't think there is any need for a 'Halo Killer' at this point. If anything, the franchise is slowly undermining itself by making some of the dumbest mistakes possible. Infinite has finally reached a good point in terms of multiplayer, but it took an extra 2 years to get there. Meanwhile, the single-player experience is fine but rather mediocre when compared to the franchise peak.
That said, I would like to see the Killzone franchise back, if anything, to offer more variety to the PS5 exclusive catalog.
I'd love a killzone trilogy, fully remastered on a single disc like they did with Uncharted. Maybe they could make it the full killzone saga including PSP and Vita games converted to console.
I've never liked the idea of a 'franchise killer', why can't both thrive, without one killing off the other? Its such a childish mentality.
That being said, if there ever was a true 'Halo killer', then it would have to be 343 Studios, and the Xbox division. They're doing a fine job killing off their own IP, apparently.
Halo doesn't need to be killed, they've done that themselves. It's a shell of its former self.
The Amsterdam-based studio reflects on its humble beginnings, beloved franchises, and growth through the years.
Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III
Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
and I like the fact that they are honoring the old school goodness of KZ1 by playing through [that game] and also Southern Hills and the Beach on KZ2. If anyone from GG reads this post, I hope you will consider (for the future):
1.) "The Park"(best KZ map of ALL-TIME imho) & "Canyon Crossing" as
future DLC
2.) for the 2010 game please bring back all the fun of the ((alternate
weapons' fire)) that were in KZ1
3.) varied environs in which to fight akin to KZ1 (beach, city, park, jungle, snow, etc..)
4.) I know it's a moonshot, but I would love to see KZ1 realized for
the PS3 a la God of War collection
...other than that, I have loved this series since Templar led the team to liberate Vekta on the PS2. GG deserves all they kudos they can take. This team has become synonymous with the promise of the PS3 and Kutargi's dream -- and it was only their first shot. Killzone 3 can't come soon enough for me.
KZ2>> MW2
congratz gg for create best fps out there...
and cant wait for killzone 3. :smileywink:
I agree Killzone is way better than MW2, sadly the majority of gamers like auto aim and easy fps. Killzone 2 kicked my ass and I loved every minute of it! It actually made me better in fps. I was playing borderlands and MW2 and can't believe how easy it is to get a kill!
"Killzone 2 is for gamers who like a challenge, not some nooby auto-aim assist that does all the work for you."
I hate to break to you , but there is auto assist in KZ2 MP. You should know that. (I'm sure you do.)
