Assassin's Creed 2 Graphic Comparison to Show Bad Textures in Xbox 360 Version

Videogameszone created another screenshot comparison of Assassin's Creed 2 between Xbox 360 and PS3 version. In one cut scene you'll see differences in hair and beard texture of one of the character models. On the arms and hands of this character from 360 version wrist bands are missing. Videogameszone recognized that both version have a tearing effect and differences in camera position.

I don't know why people are fighting over this, they look nearly the same!!!! The little edge goes to PS3 as I like the lighting (I prefer lighter washed out colors to dark... But PS3 always has the RGB feature for those you want it a little more darker) and obviously the exclusive PSP content makes the deal for me, but even if you get the 360 version you ain't getting a bastard child.

Anyway, the lightning looks a lot better on the PS3. For me, it destroys a lot of the graphic when all the lighting and shadows are off or missing, way more than color or textures. It's just one of those things I notice.

I think the only thing all these comparison sites are proving is that we shouldn't take any of them seriously as with a little tweak to settings here and there are you will have completely different results. Just get for the system you want to get it on. Both have screen tears, which sucks!

Edit: To all these sites, if the difference in graphics were that big of a deal to gamers then why isn't everyone just buying games on the PC? This is a waste of their and our time. I'd rather they spent their energy on providing comprehensive, unbiased, intelligent reviews.

Apparently everyone already forgot about the Lens of Truth article from yesterday.

For a quick summary: Graphics of the PS3 and 360 version were on par. Screen tearing on the PS3 version were 3X worse than its counterpart. Also, the 360 version loaded faster even without an install like the PS3 version.

People can spin the graphics issue all they want, or they can be objective and acknowledge the truth.

lol every comparison is really useless, i think sites should start listing the settings that they used. Reall depends on allot of things. Tv, setting on console, setting on tv. either way they can be adjusted to look the same.

LOT's conclusions are often deeply flawed, and at the end of the day how do we know they're even telling the truth? Because they say so?

If these type of comparisons were 100% accurate, then every site that does these comparisons would come to the same conclusions all the time. Nothing could be further from the truth. Even these type of head 2 head's often come to different conclusions.

Find a review site you trust and stick with them. Sites like "Lens of Truth" need to earn gamer's trust. In my opinion they're a far cry from that point given their history.

I am picking the PS3 version mainly cause of PSP compatibility. Either ways, if you buy any version, you will be happy with it. But looking at these screen shots, I am happy that the PS3 version is a tad bit better in lighting and textures.... However Frame tear is a little bit more on the PS3, but you gain some you lose some...

BTW I would take LOT comparison with a pinch of salt. They seem to be more 360 PRO off late. I would much rather wait for Digital Foundry, but from most sites (even screen shots from LOT) I can pretty much see that the PS3 version does lighting better and 360 version is dark (really dark in a few places)... For most games this isn't an issue, but for games which have day and night cycle, this becomes an issue for me sometime as I have to adjust brightness and stuff, minor quirks, but still present.

LOT has a history of getting it wrong, and i seriously doubt a minute 2% difference in frame tearing is going to be noticeable by anyone. The results are always debatable, as in this case the PS3 version clearly shows better textures and lighting.

I'm still on the fence about buying the PSP AC:Bloodline game, the bonus looks cool

I wouldn't count LOT's conclusions as "proof" of anything. It's proof that Lens of Truth said so, nothing more.

Secondly, we're talking less than one fps difference. To put that into perspective, the human eye recognizes 18 fps with blur as fluid motion. These games run closer to 30 fps.

No one could visibly discern a variation as slight as this.

Check out the screens and direct roll over comparisons yourself, you can see the 360 version has deeper colours, not much else, just better colours

As well as, faster loading, less screen tearing and no FORCED install

Put the PSP aside, this is about PS3 v 360, no gimmicky ingame weapons that you can only get with an entire other console is going to change that

And you will see, the 360 version is the definitely the Superior version.

The 1 and only time the PS3 version should logically be picked is if
- You own both consoles
- As well as a PSP
- And for some reason really care about the silly DLC the PSP version adds

lens of truth is not using the optimal settings for the ps3 as they have stated they test games on consoles out of the box which is stupid if you ask me. but my ps3 version looks just as good as the xbox version sans the screen tearing which is not that bad to make a big deal out of. if lens of truth are so honest why don't they run the xbox on composite seeing as not all xbox owners have hdmi outputs unless they ran out and bought a new xbox with hdmi support. at least all ps3s have hdmi and components jacks. Im just saying they should be more honest with these comparisons because some people take them seriously. As for me when it comes to multiplats its always the ps3 version because I could give a rats ass about low res textures or framerate issues, screen tearing or installations. If I asked you to admit that there have been games that look and perform better on the PS3, you would probably either deny any, or gather up lackluster games to make it seem like the game quality is worse.

I can name a list of games that look better on 360 if you'd like. What I think you fail to realize is that the 360 isn't the second coming, and the PS3 isn't always "teh evil". You can say you own both all day long, it doesn't make up for the fact that you posses blinded bias. Nothing you say can hold water because of it. PS3 is using its independant lighting, 360 is using the 'bloom' effect. At least the devs seem to have tried to align each systems best attribute in multi-plats. Judging by the reviews the story and gameplay is great, thats enough for me to buy it on any system.

Looks like the xbox images have been photoshopped. Its either that or poor interpolated frame capture You can tell a blur has been put over the entire screenshot, even the part thats not moving, such as the HUD, this is how you can tell its most likely been photoshopped. Just get the version on the system of choice... if you have both... then get it for which controller you're comfortable on... or if you prefer achievements / trophies and such...

We've basically come to a stage where most of multiplats are on par in terms or graphics/performance, sometimes more or less identical.

I'm willing to bet noone can tell the difference, if we record a video of the actual gameplay of both versions "off-screen"

OK, some facts:

The title of this N4G entry is, "Assassin's Creed 2 Graphic Comparison to Show Bad Textures in Xbox 360 Version". This title hints towards bias more than any of the other sites.

The 360 shots are captured using component and the PS3 using pure digital means. Don't take my word for it, just compare these 360 shots to the 360 shots at Gameswire. You'll see the Gameswire ones are crisper, with more detail. Now, given that it's not possible to add detail that isn't there, but it is possible to use rubbish component capture in an effort to make a game look worse, what do you think is going on here?

Anyone with common sense and eyes can see that these 360 shots aren't a true indication of the actual quality on offer.
