First MW2 LAN Tournament a "Disaster"

According to news reported by tek9, the first Modern Warfare 2 tournament, part of the I-series, was a monumental "distaster" due to a number of communications problems between Multiplay, Activision, and the tournament participants. A number of participants were denied entry to the tournament on the grounds that they did not meet a hastily imposed 18 or over age policy which was not announced to the tournament community before the competition began, resulting in large amounts of wasted travel expenses.

When a Tournament that doesn't post age restrictions one assumes that the Tournament does not in fact have age restrictions. Let's break it down in an easy example. Say Snoop Dog has a concert and they sell tickets to ANYONE, a young fan buys a ticket and is ready for the show friday. He takes a bus to the concert, which is held in the next city over, as he arrives security says he cannot get in because he needs a legal guardian. Obviously the kid checked the website and assumed no age restrictions were applied, as he was even sold a ticket without being requested an ID. Security simply responds, "They posted it today. The music is to graphic for kids." Now the kid needs a take a new bus home, with the feeling of missing his favorite rapper and knowing that he was just played.

If you're allowed to play an M 17+ game without being 17 or older, how come you can't BUY the game yourself? If it's just a "recommendation" without any law behind it, why can't they sell M 17+ games to kids?

This game is definitely very casual. I'd compare it to World of Warcraft in that it is a very high-quality game with addictive elements, but is also very casual in comparison to others of the same genre.

If there is ever subscription fee's for an fps game, it will be a dark day for us all. I will NEVER pay more money than the initial purchase cost of any game, these god damn jewish game industry types waning more money than they deserve is a joke. I got the free dlc that came with dragon age, i will not be buying the others, I bought the first fallout 3 dlc and torrented the rest as it is obviously not worth the money, then they released a GOTY edition for half the price i payed for the vanilla fallout 3, which proves just how little it costs for them to make the content

Doesn't Activision own Blizzard who makes World of Warcraft the biggest PC game known to man wich makes money. If so why piss off the PC community I am not a PC gamer but the way they treat the PC gamers its as if they have the swine flu. Activision was a great producer a long time ago and now the way they treat fans no matter what console is unfair. The game has a rated M on the title for the rating I can understand not letting kids in to play the game but advertise it now the parents are out some cash getting their kids to this tournament. In the states i think people can sue cause of that mistake, the prize should have been announced before the torunament was put on I feel sorry for the person who wins the torunament.

Activision is acting like Valve I was going to buy Left 4 Dead 2 on my 360 but after the PS3 bashing they did I am not getting it. I remeber it was 3yrs after the release of COD4 that COD5 came out but when you over milk a franchise it tends to get stale look at Sonic Sega milked him to death and they wonder why Sonics sales are not doing well. I got CODMW2 for my Ps3 I am done with it I might trade it in for Assasins Creed 2 at least Ubi Soft knows how to treat the consumer right.

A good stance to take, if they mistreat gamers of any platform and are allowed to continue with it, you get be sure the poor treatment will work it's way around, and as long as they can get away with it, they will keep doing it, BFBC 2 for me, dedicated servers, DX11 support, they will release official mod tools, i'm pretty sure LAN will be included, and possibly bots, not only do they care, but they're backing it up in a big way.

EA has done their share of B.S, but they are making it up...actually scratch that, they are screwing over C&C fans of more than 10 years and pc gamers eveywhere by making a constant internet requirement for the single player portion...i'll just vote with my wallet as always. I'm sure there will be retailers that won't even stock it because of the internet requirement. Some retailers did the same with L4D and DOW2 as they both required steam.

All Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and L4D2 is nothing more but a 70 dollar expansion companies know people will pay for this stuff. Why charge 9.99 on the psn for an expansion when Activision can make 70 bux off a new game. I dont think acti will not make it mandatory pay to play online. They have another model in which if you dont pay the subscription you will only be having a knife which can be upgraded to sword and also with COG scope. For people who pay for silver will be given a pistol with limited magazine and you need to buy mags with real money. I forgot to mention with no fees your online character will be only wearing a thong and can get more serious injuries while lying prone on rocky surfaces.

isn't the game only an 18 due to the airport level? why then does the multiplayer component count - not only that but on pc the players would be using voice chat, so that takes the chat aspect out (plus plenty of unrated or rated 15 games with voice chat)
