Yoshiki Okamoto is a luminary of the Japanese gaming industry. He got his start in the '80s at Konami, producing arcade classics Gyruss and Time Pilot, before moving to Capcom to work on such hits as 1942, Street Fighter II and Resident Evil.
In 2004, Okamoto left Capcom and founded his own development studio, Game Republic, which has since produced a number of games, principally on behalf of Sony -- the Genji series for PS2 and PS3, Brave Story: New Traveler for PSP and Folklore for PS3 comprising the lion's share of the company's output.
Now, as the company moves forward into the mature next-gen market with a contract with Brash Entertainment on a Hollywood movie licensed title, Okamoto discusses his dissatisfaction with Game Republic's output up till now.
Sony Japan is set to continue a PlayStation tradition with the PlayStation 3: an official budget lineup. A Japanese online retailer has posted listings for the first set of PS3 titles to fall under the new "PlayStation 3 the Best" lineup.
According to the retailer, PS3 owners in Japan will soon be able to pick up PlayStation 3 the Best versions of Resistance, FolksSoul, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Gundam: Target in Sight, and Ridge Racer 7 for 3,800 yen ($35 USD) each. All five will arrive on 3/19.
35 bucks is 18 quids here. very cheap.
I hope they call it platinum. That is a cool name.
I think that Folksoul, Ridge Racers, Gundam, and Ninja Gaiden will sell a lot more now. I really don't know about Resistance.
I wonder how long before they're released in other countries (U.S. namely) $35 is not bad, it aint no $20 greatest hits but its better than selling a year old game for $60.
I hope they expand the list of games too, so far Ninja Gaidan is the only one im interested in since Resistance 2 might be out by the time this hits U.S. retailers.
I'd exepct the announcement for greatest hits in the U.s sometime in April after the start of the new fiscal year thats how they always do it..... Expect some more psp greatest hits and playstation cards to drop around th esame time too E3 is just to far off.
I'm downloading now!! Won't be able to play it till after work though....
it's slow at the start because it's just story and obviously you can't tell what's going on, but then it's the battle scenes and the graphics are really good! Something really strange is happening as well i'm starting to like the use of the sixxaxis more and more it's implemented really well in this!
sh1t I was waiting for this last night, and now that I'm at work it's available.
but a bit confusing at the start
Good to hear that the demo is good. I have avoided RPGs since I killed too much time with Brave Fencer Musashi on PS1. Anybody else play that game?
