Apple moves to conquer new frontier

Steve Jobs means to upgrade his status in the video game field. According to The Wall Street Journal, "Apple has made clear that it intends to go after Nintendo's turf." Among the Big Three members of the game industry, Nintendo is by far the most successful. The company is expected to sell 30 million of its DS units this year.

Sony could have easily (and still can) beat apple to the punch with a 3G phone gaming device. If apple gets out first, they'll corner the market for sure.

There's definately room for a decent hand held gaming device (with two analogue inputs).

As for the console market, despite being a keen xbox fan, I'd jump the ship pretty quick if I could have a console running a proper OS (and that would have to be Mac OS)

...wait til Apple puts out their first hand-held. That's the only thing I dislike about Apple products, they're always way overpriced.

Start getting developers to support MAC as a format.

Microsoft NEEDS competition, in that area ESPECIALLY, of PC.

just of matter of time i saw this coming a mile away when ea jump on with the madden10...........but i still wont do portable gaming

I suppose Apple's reentry into the game industry is only inevitable. I hear the fanboys of Apple are ruthless.

Sony will make a preemptive strike with a PSP2 with 2 analog sticks and built in 3G (like the Amazon Kindle).

No way am I buying an ipod touch I want an Iphone so i can use it anywhere not just in wifi areas. But i cant as many cant in america because ATandT has exclusive rights to iphone and many areas cant get that. So there not getting my and thousands of others support because of that. As well where are the great games for iphone? They need better original franchises and games than nintendo has produced. They have a long way to go with that.

Why Indie Games Fail To Keep Their Place In The Spotlight

A look into the sad trajectory of indie games from high successful releases to complete irrelevancy in just a few weeks or months.

Easy not enough developpers to add content to the game (palworld)

That's the thing with gaming there's always new experiences to have why spend months or years playing a single game when there's a new experience right around the corner.

Indie or AAA if your building your game expecting long term player counts you'll probably be disappointed as gamers often enjoy something for a few weeks and move on only to return if it's truely a classic.

Out of all the generations I've experienced there's games from 30 plus years ago I still dust off and play like super Mario bros, earthbound, vice city and san Andreas being games I treasure and revisit every few years but I'm not going back to play a game designed to keep me engaged for months on end because it's also designed to milk my wallet in most cases.

Build a great game that people love make it playable offline and ask does it matter if the concurrent player count is under 100 a year post launch more often that not it doesn't

The price of entry is too high to take chances like I used to. Was looking at V Rising and that ranges from $50-$130 CAD. That’s a lot for an indie imo. By the time it goes on sale, the player count might be dwindling. But that’s the trade-off, I guess.

I’m glad my preference is single player experiences, Indie devs got me covered 👊🏻

Pretty good list. Botany Manor would be the newest addition that encapsulates that title.
