OMG, GameArena gave 5/10 to PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2!
"If you told me three months ago we would be suggesting PC gamers hold off on buying Modern Warfare 2 I would have thought you're crazy. But if you are buying this game mainly for multiplayer - especially if you're contemplating serious competitive play at a high level - that's exactly what we're saying. The single player story is great, and if your idea of multiplayer is a quick zap with mates maybe an hour or two a week then by all means - it's great for your purposes. However if you're a Counterstrike, Battlefield, ETQW or even a COD4 player looking for a serious competitive platform to move to - best wait. Wait and see if Infinity Ward can implement dedicated server support."

Rightfully so, they've removed something from gamers so they should be punished for it, this is the equivalent of PS3 Borderlands gettign lower score because of its worse multiplayer, well guess what the multiplayer in this on PC has been destroyed by IW.

Have the graphics changed? No.

Has the community features changed? Yes, no modding allowed or dedi servers, cya clans!

Has the AI had an overhaul? No.

Seems justified to me, whats good enough on console isn't good enough on PC nowadays as shown by the many poor console to PC ports.

Yeah, it's a bullshit review because even without mod support and dedicated servers, Modern Warfare 2 is still a great package and I expect IWNet to work as well as BattleNet does.

I understand PC gamers are upset, but you can't score a game based on the lack of a couple of features. It's just as good as the console versions. Better graphics actually. That's where you should start when reviewing something. A good critic puts his personal sour grapes aside, you know.

Dedicated servers is a big thing on the PC. It's like Turn 10 removing customisation from Forza that allows you to make your vehicle look however you want it to. If Turn 10 ever did that I bet it would get a much worse score.

What you're suggesting is that PC gamers should accept what IW and Acti is doing to the gaming community which is raping it. PC gamers pay less than console gamers because there is no license fee. Now they expect PC gamers to pay the SAME price as console gamers while taking AWAY features that should have been there in the first place. So for $10 more, expect a whole less. So I would say this review has a point and MW2 deserve a low score.

The double standard these days are amazing. I've seen PS3 game get lower scores because they are missing feature but not on 360 games.

Very inconsistent review. He praises SP gloriously, describes how MP is "a lot of fun too" and then gives it a 5/10? Last time I checked, 5/10 is a very bad score. Games get it when there's hardly anything good about them. The reviewer is probably inexperienced.

That's because most sites that use 1-10 rating are really only using a 5 point system 1-4 don't exist on their review sheets. 5 is average or mediocre. And by their own definition this is an online fps the single player part that only clocks in at 4 or 5h I might add is only a bonus.
Since this is as pure a console port I have ever heard of for a supposedly AAA FPS on the PC and most people would be buying it for competitive online I think they gave it a very fare score. Hell as a PC fpser player I would knock 5 points off for not having mod support alone. Any FPS on PC would get the same treatment from me for not having mods let alone matchmaking.
I played just enough online on the xbox for it leave a very bad taste in my mouth and left me wondering why I didn't get dinner first before I got buggered.

Well, for me:

no matchmaking = -1
no mods = -1
no dedicated servers = -1

so the game starts at 7/10 before my review is even started. These things are expected from PC FPS games.

The PC gamers have been let down on this one.

The take the major selling points of the game (on pc anyway) which are dedicated servers, mods, basically the community, and eliminate the console and what are you left with? A generic lifeless title(in comparison).
This is a MAJOR step back for this game. Sure the game is fun, but it has no legs. No soul. It's lost it's place in the community. There is no reason to suggest this game when other games are coming that still have all this intact. Especially when the original had these, and is what made them great.
They deserve this.

The Call of Duty series started on the PC. If you think Xbox Live is a great community, think again. The PC community makes Xbox look like a 2 person funeral. So in aspect, this is a worthy review, actually a very accurate one at best.

Totally deserved imo. I was going to buy this on Steam, but no thanks. I might pick it up used in several months for my PS3. Its only 8 days to the Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta and I already have too much to play.

I am very happy to see someone write the truth about this game.

We all know all the other media people are payed off to write good reviews regardless of how good a game is, or if a company backstabs the fans who got them to where they are today.

Call of Duty simply isn't Call of Duty without Dedicated Servers, Mod Support, and Clan vs Clan action. Most notably is matches were lowered to 9 vs 9 from what could previously be 32 vs 32.

I don't know about you guys, but putting my PC in action next to a Console would be like comparing a Tyrannosaur to a Gerbil.

I refuse to be stuffed into your gimped mold. I will take my business elsewhere. If Treyarch makes the same move I will write off Call of Duty games altogether.

I know I am not alone on that as well. In any case, back to Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 5 World at War.
