I wont lie I am enjoying it so far and the spec ops looks fun can't wait to try it in a day or 2... It however is not even close to UC2 in anyway imo... MW2's story was so freaking over the top... but more in a action B movie kinda way. It was a heck of a ride and enjoyable but totally not believable or real in any way... UC2 feels like old indiana jones. Maybe not realistic but a heck of a lot of fun...

MW2 was seriously too short. The MP is fun but with the millions upon million they made off the last game you think they could have done a little more with this one... Not that it's bad but...

Game of the year? Never in this lifetime in my book. Graphics are beyond subpar. Blame Uncharted 2 for that. As stated above, this game is not even worth mentioning for game of the year. Sales doesn't mean GOTY. If that was the case (and thank christ it isn't), then Transformers 2 would win the best picture oscar.

I was going to say the PS3 version does look really washed out, but then I got to the torturing pics and you can clearly see that the light is brighter on the PS3 version, making this completely a brightness issue.

The light doesn't even brighten the guy in the 360 version. It is as if they are purposely lowering the brightness in order to hide something! When you look at the PC version, the game has the more dark contrast, but the light is really lighting up the guy.

I prefer the console version and btw. for some reason it does have much more contrast in my TV than in these pictures. Don't know why?
PC version looks great as well but I prefer my cozy sofa, 40' HDTV, 5.1 Surround system and a controller which actually has a trigger for shooting and thumbsticks for moving. Mouse and keyboard are so unnatural and 90's, reminds me of playing the first Quake.

PC gaming is going down hill and dies soon completely. Don't get me wrong, I grew up with PC games like Kings Quest and UFO:EU, but only games that are still better on PC are strategy games and games like EVE-Online (oh, please make a console version of that!)

My bad for not specifying. I can see how my comment seemed contradictory. What I meant was I can play any game on my PC at 60fps without any of the tradeoffs that Krakn3Dfx mentioned. So no, I haven't played MW2 yet, but given how well the first one runs, and the fact that it seems to me that they're still using the same engine, with a few tweaks, I'm fairly certain I'll be able to run it just as well. Those computations are done by the GPU and CPU with the aid of memory and bandwidth. lol really now? blu ray doesn't matter for pc man, do your research. i'm getting my version off steam that version has no disc whatsoever. blu ray isn't needed for pc when every game is installed and many games don't even need a disc in the disc drive to run the game. reason being we run it mostly off our HDD while consoles run it off the disc. and blu ray has nothing to do with graphics. its the cell assisting the rsx that lets killzone 2 and uncharted 2 look the way they do. blu ray just helps with less disc swapping.

Just so you understand why everyone is laughing at you, I'm going to provide you with a small lesson on what exactly Blu-ray does for gaming.

As mentioned above, Blu-ray is a storage medium. That means it is just a type of disc, and in this case one that can hold up to 50GBs of information (on a dual layer disc). This means that it can hold over 5 times the amount of information that a dual layer DVD (or DVD9) can hold. In turn, that means that if a game were to take full advantage of the Blu-ray disc, it could have higher resolution textures (which are larger in memory size and requires more space on the storage medium) as well as higher quality audio and video for per-rendered cut scenes. The higher resolution textures would make the game look better, but only so long as the console can process the textures quickly enough to make use of them.

Unfortunately you won't see any of that with a multi-platform game. At least, not on the console side. Developers will always cater to the lowest common denominator, which in this case is the Xbox 360. Since the Xbox is stuck using DVD9 as it's storage medium, both console versions will get the same basic game information. So even though the PS3 version could be released on a Blu-ray disc, it would still have the same >8.5GBs of information that the Xbox version gets. The PC doesn't have this problem, and is given higher resolution textures in it's release, giving the game a better look. Until consoles get to the point where they are able to process the same resolution of textures as a PC without suffering performance issues, the PC version will always look better.

Keep in mind there may also be differences in the polygon count of models and game level design for the console versions compared to the PC version. This isn't very common anymore, as usually consoles are able to render the same amount of polygons as a PC, just not in as high of a resolution or with anti-aliasing, which is why you get all those nasty jaggies.

I could go into a lot more detail, but hopefully you get the point. It's not about the storage medium, but what goes on the storage medium and how well the console is able to process that information that matters.

Honestly, the only reason I defend the PC so much is because of all the console fanboys who don't realize that without the PC there would be no consoles. One way how i could see the PC looks better is it is not being played on the same screen as the 2 game consoles. The 360 and PS3 must have been played on a 720p HDTV screen with a lower contrast ratio while the PC is on a 1080p high contrast ratio HD PC Monitor.

This means that the image is taken before it gets to the Tv. Straight from the source. This is the native signal, showing you exactly what it will look like before the tv gets ahold of it.
The better contrast you're seeing on the pc version is due to better textures, and higher resolution.

512 I'm guessing this is the video memory which will be low speed DDR2 9200M GS which is mobile GPU very low end, 9200M GS is shared with main memory, were as if you got GeForce 7800 GT that were released around 11th Aug 2005 it would probably max out CoD: MW 2 with out AA or AF

Also since I have identified that your GPU is mobile it stands to reason that so is your CPU, Mobile CPU are not designed to perform intensive task, just word processing and web browsing.

...that console gamers will sit and compare multiplatform titles like Prototype or Batman AA against each other on the PS3 and 360, comparing shadows and number of enemies and lighting and you name it, they will nitpick the hell out of a game to trump one console over another.

But then the PC steps into the ring, the best they can come up with is, "They all look fine" or "They're basically all the same."

To date, the only console game I've seen that's even held a candle to what a good $500-$600 PC is capable of today is Uncharted 2. Everything else could be done on the PC, and if it's done on the PC it looks better and runs faster. Look at Borderlands, Dragon Age, Far Cry 2, Assassin's Creed, and the first Modern Warfare, all games that came to the PC as well as consoles, and the PC version handed the console versions their asses on a platter.

The closer video game graphics get to photo-realism over the years, the harder it becomes to discern the difference between PCs and consoles. There's a limit to what the eyes can perceive in terms of graphical quality, as that quality improves.

Yeah, this looks a bit better on the PC, but to call it a mind-blowing improvement over consoles would be disingenuous. It's...a little better. That's it. But it's nothing like the visual difference between PC and consoles for, say, CoD 2.

I still don't know what platform to get this on myself. I have more gamer friends on PS3 and 360 than on PC. But yes, the PC looks a bit nicer (for those with a good rig), and I'm assuming is a little cheaper.

In some of your points your right. In a perfect world we all could afford to upgrade a pc yearly. To me I love video games no matter what hardware its on. But this is the point I'm trying to make. I know that by now pc hardware can destroy consoles. Anyone who thinks they cant doesn't know what they are talking about. But their popularity is not that high anymore. name 1 exclusive to show off pc hardware in the next year. It doesn't matter in you have all that horsepower. Because no one is taking advantage of it. 360 fans keep knockin Uncharted because they are pissed, jealous, and nervous. They keep writing about how bad it suck when they haven't even played it!! Play this game on a 1080p HDTV with a 80,000:1 contrast ratio and you wont be able to tell the differnce between a game or a movie. Not to mention if u have surround sound turn that up. You will get an experience in a game that you have never felt before. I'd rather play the uncharted 2 online more than CoD modern warfare. CoD is basically just shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting. While Uncharted 2 is running off the top of roof tops leaping onto leadges barely making it. Its also hand to hand combat as when. Also Co-Op online to finish the game. Incredible!!! Stop hating 360 fans, Uncharted 2 took just about 100% of the Cell Processor, Call of Duty modern warfare 2 took 0% because 360 doesn't have the Cell. You have the X-Engine!!!! hahahah

Mostly because I've never played Uncharted 2 and haven't played L4D2 or MW2 so I'm totally going to voice my opinion on games I've never played and say THEY SUCK BALLS.

I just spent about $1000 on a PC in Feb. Quad, 9600GT (well, supposedly kills the PS3, no ?). And no, with that config I can just run 1280x800 on high and it can't match the PS3; not with the smooth gaming experience I am used there. Not without tweaks or what not (ever seen UC2 ?). I am not willing to invest to another graphics card again to "maybe play 1080p with 4xMSAA and @60fps".

@17.1, a slightly better graphics card should run most things in 1080 no problem (I'm running a Radeon 4850 and can do 1080 smoothly). Your CPU is certainly good enough. But yes, I agree, the PC fanboys tend to talk too much about what their systems can do IN THEORY, not what they do in REALITY. On paper, sure, high end PCs dust the PS3 and the 360. What developers end up releasing rarely reflects this, though.

Totally with you on Uncharted 2. The only PC game that beats it is Crysis. PC fanboys will say "HA! That's a 2 year old game!", to which I say, well, shouldn't it have been surpassed by now? Isn't this a REALLY bad sign that developers are giving up on truly pushing PC technology as far as it can go?

Man PC gaming is overrated these days, the ps3 and 360 perform really well for what they are and you don't have to deal with upgrading, etc. A firmware update here and there and youre good to go. The main reason i pretty much abandoned pc gaming is because i work on a computer all day, so when i come home i like to recline on the couch, pop open a beer and game on my tv.

This should not win GOTY, firstly its basically a remake of CoD4 with different levels, on the same engine, nothing ground breaking or new or innovative, it should not win GOTY for doing absolutely nothing to further improve on the game. On the other hand UC2, pushed the ps3 and has a great campaign along with the addition of a NEW multiplayer side of the game, along with the addition of Co-op. multiplayer and coop is not new for a CoD game, i want to see something new out of my CoD games every year, not the same stuff with different maps and guns. Trust me i'm getting MW2, but i don't think it deserves GOTY by following the CoD4 formula.

And man, screenshots do NOT do this game any favors, looks pretty horrible when static =/ then again they are only using the CoD4 engine can't expect too much improvement.

You heed help. Crysis uses real time lighting effects. Where did you get your bankrupted information from? And sorry to burst your bubble, however MANY games before Killzone 2 and after Killzone 2 on the PC have used effects LIKE Killzone and or better.
I only have enough space here but i could go for days stating games that use real time lighting and HDR effects on NUMEROUS PC games even YEARS before Killzone 2 came out.
