Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Reflex – First 10 Minutes

Take a peek on the first 10 minutes of the much awaited port version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the Nintendo Wii. If you have not had a chance to play Modern Warfare on the PS3, 360 or PC, and you only have a Wii, now is your chance to get this game. Everything is the same except the graphics got downgraded and you have to use the Wii remote to aim and shoot.

That was one of the most frustrating gameplay video watching experiences I think I've ever had. I mean, damn :P

Bit strange to see an upcoming release of a past game the same time as it's sequal but at least the Wii crowd get to experience it.

Activision was surprised at how well W@W sold on Wii; that's the reason they gave for the COD4 port.

Hopefully if this one sells, they'll port over MW2 next year.

I'm just happy to see it make it to Wii with fully customizable controls. It can't compete graphically with the HD consoles (although Treyarch did an admirable job), but this could end up being the best-controlling console version of the game.

Considering what the older version is selling for, plus the year Treyarch had to put into porting the game, it makes sense. Plus, this looks to be Wii's best shooter (just like COD4 was arguably the best shooter on the HD consoles before).

Sure you can. They're doing it, after all. No need to be insulting about this, either.

After all, you can't make the graphics BETTER for Wii. It's impossible. That's like complaining about putting a game on a console while charging full price, even though there's a graphically superior version available for high-end PCs.

And btw, through today, Activision has actually been charging more for the inferior console versions compared to the PC version.

I assume they'll drop the price as soon as MW2 hits shelves, but there you go -- $10 more for lower graphical quality and a control scheme that is quite inferior to a mouse/keyboard set up.

Also consider the price of paying for the human labor of porting this game to Wii, ENHANCING the current Wii graphics engine Acitivion has, streamlining the online for a system that hasn't had great online play, and putting an entirely new control scheme in place. Not cheap. You're focusing on graphics exclusively, but I'd wager that nailing the control scheme took as much time as anything.

I prefer the remote/nunchuck over dual analog for FPS on consoles any day of the week, so I'll most likely buy it, as this will be the best FPS on Wii.

But it's pretty simple -- a developer/publisher will charge what they think a game is worth on the market.

Activision put a year's worth of work with about a 30-person team into porting COD4, and they're putting out a game that will most likely be the best of its kind on Wii. They've been charging $50 for a 2-year old version of this game already (while a superior version is available for cheaper if you've got a good PC), one that only had a few added maps, not an overhaul to go to a new system.

Would I like it to be cheaper? Hell yeah. But I can appreciate how much effort had to go into making this game work on Wii.

I don't agree with getting a 2 year old port either, especially for full price, but I think that Treyarch put quite a bit of work into it and I definitely won't condemn anyone for wanting to pick up the games. But it's not for me.

ok guys instead of ruling out a game for bad graphics when this video is CLEARLY youtube quality instead of trying to find a decent quality vid to show the true graphics of this game which are actually BEASTLY (for wii) me and my brother honestly were blown away thinking other than a tiny bit lower res this game could pass for 360. http://www.youtube.com/watc... there is the best vid i could find quality wise of an online match at district, its much better quality but its still not that good because its still not even taken with a capture card (hence hearing the person cough at the start of the vid) enjoy :)

The control scheme looks dead-on (despite some iffy play -- the sniper rifle for close combat?). That's the most important thing.

Some of the textures look fantastic. Some don't. But until we get some good quality screen caps or are actually playing the game, we won't know for sure just how good it looks. That said, it's not like COD4 was every the absolute prettiest FPS out there.

I don't know if it quite makes the "360 launch title" look (good smoke effects, though), but it doesn't look bad at all. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised when I pick it up. The action looks to be all there; combine that with fully customizable IR, and it looks like Wii's best shooter.

The online doesn't look to bad however I enjoy the 007 GoldenEye (Conduit, Halo) multilayer setups more so. Although it will be a good change as killing everyone in the Conduit online has become less entertaining.
