Shimano Xtreme Fishing is a broken game with little to no lasting appeal. But the little time that you will want to spend with the game will be fun. It's just an experience that doesn't hold up after the first time or two. You are an angry fisherman who hates fish. You hate wild-life and you have over-the-top professional hunting weapons meant for killing creatures much bigger and more threatening than fish. Well, to the game's credit you can kill sharks and alligators, but it's a pretty rare occurrence compared to the hundreds of fish you'll be slaughtering for points.

Mygamer: Shimano Xtreme Fishing Review

Shimano, not taking itself too seriously, will provide a decent amount of entertainment…for about the first two times you play it. Blasting the snot out of fish with a bow and spear is actually fun for a short while, but once this novelty wears off there is little reason to go back. If you find this title in a bargain bin somewhere, it is worthy of a purchase at a lower price, even though the cheap fish killing thrills will be short lived.

In the end though, you probably won't play it more than a few times, as there are better fishing titles out there. Hell, there are adventure games and even rpg's with more entertaining fishing modes. Zelda and Breath of Fire are just two that come to mind.
