Alternative Magazine Online has posted a review of classic horror RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption just in time for Halloween:
Ah, Halloween. Very rarely does Alternative Magazine Online go into anything spooky or creepy, but if there's one thing we can't refuse it's a good story. Something with likeable main characters, a flowing plot, a satisfying ending, and above all, length. Not often do you find something with all those things in it. Many of today's games spend a lot of their disc size on high-end graphics and sacrifice length, or visa versa. (Final Fantasy XII is a good balance of both, amazing for a simple PS2-sized DVD!) But we can't deny it: if you want length, visuals and balance, you have to go to the PC. Old now (coming out in 2000, and already having a second game based upon it), Activision's Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption was a game that delivered just that.
DSOGaming writes: "Modder ‘Ridiculous Death’ has released a new HD Texture Pack for Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption. Ridiculous Death has used neural networks in order to improve the original textures by 4X times and upscales all of the game’s 3147 textures."
Paradox Interactive has become a real heavyweight publisher in recent years. No longer just a developer of self-published strategy titles such as Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron, Paradox is perhaps best known for publishing immensely popular crowd-pleasers such as Magicka, Pillars of Eternity, and Cities: Skylines. In a recent candid interview, CGM’s Brendan Frye had the opportunity to speak with Paradox Interactive’s CEO, Fredrik Wester.
White Wolf’s purchase by Paradox has renewed hopes for another Vampire: The Masquerade title – and not just among fans.
I remember when this first came out. I was only 12 and bought it at Sam's Club along with my first ever graphics card so I can play it. It's really one of my favorite games ever. Absolutely amazing story and perfect gameplay.
I urge anyone to pick this game up if they have a chance. It's a classic but still amazing...
Thanks for the feedback! Stewie is a new writer on the site and I am thrilled with his recent articles. I have never played this game but his review makes me want to seek it out... it sounds like a fantastic little old-school game!
