PES 2010, Forza Motorsport 3 and Borderlands see strong launches, while Wii hardware continues to increase in the weekly chart for 18th - 24th October 2009
TPV Writer Tom Writes: "A carefully reasoned and informed discussion. With myself. And who knows? This analysis might give FIFA some much needed credibility (not that I over estimate my writing powers at all), because let’s be honest, Sep Blatter is so crooked, he sleeps on a spiral staircase. So corrupted, Microsoft Word can’t open him. You get the picture, but don’t worry Mr Blatter. Here to help."
"In reality, Lionel Messi is the perfect poster boy for Pro Evo. He personifies everything this game is. Flashy, annoying as hell, and overrated."
Well I already hated this article before I read this part but that was icing on the hate cake. Pretty much everything he said was unjustified.
Brought to you by EA games. I take it PES somehow beat this kid up and stole his lunch money?
The latest patch for PES 2011 is now available to download on 360, PS3 and PC. PS3 and Xbox 360 users as normal and PC users should be able to access the patch by selecting online mode, and your default browser will open with a download link.
Konami have reported that the patch adjusts the defender AI to allow for more consistent pressing from various situations and includes a series of alterations based on feedback from users.
Sadly, the old adage that beauty is only skin deep can easily be applied to some of this generations' video game releases. Megabits of Gaming looks at 10 titles that have split opinion...
Yes, it looks great, but with 94% on Metacritic, I don't think it's quite accurate to say that it got "slammed" by critics. Even with the cutscenes, it's still one of the best games of this generation.
Why the hate for Final Fantasy XIII, I for one think it was one of the best games this gen, I love the story, the characters, the world, and the graphics of course.
It was ok for a shooter, but it certainly wasn't a looker when released. The models were next-gen but the flat environments and low res textures certainly weren't!
Games like FFXIII, MW2, MGS4 etc. were not "slammed" by critics, look at their review scores.
I hate the perception of the video game review system. It seems like games scored below 90% are "average".
Trying to overlook the PS3 sales makes me feel you don't deserve the hits till you start posting with less spin, so here's the article gamers no need to click link
PES 2010, Forza Motorsport 3 and Borderlands see strong launches, while Wii hardware continues to increase in the weekly chart for 18th - 24th October 2009

Konami recently announced that they were shipping 3 million copies of PES 2010 for launch and while sales were strong at over half a million units in the first two days, 3 million units is going to take a long time to sell-through! The title is down 10% on last year’s PS3 / 360 launch, in stark contrast to the 27% year on year increases seen with FIFA 10 during the first four weeks on sale - largely down to the much stronger reviews for FIFA this year.
Forza Motorsport 3 saw a limited launch in Japan and Europe / other regions this week, with nearly 250,000 units sold - up over 70% on Forza 2. With the game releasing in the Americas this week and expected to do a further 250,000 – 300,000 then Forza 3 will become one of the biggest Xbox360 launches of the year so far.
Moving on to hardware, all formats were up slightly on last week with the exception of PS3 and PSP. PS3 hardware decreased following the strong Uncharted 2 release last week (which provided a temporary bump) while PSP continued to drop away following the PSP Go launch four weeks ago.
Borderlands saw a very strong opening this week – over 350,000 copies sold on Xbox360 and PS3 alone (likely over half a million once PC / Steam sales are added). Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games saw sales increase significantly this week – up over 70% on last weeks figures and already over half a million copies sold. Uncharted 2 saw a massive 60% drop this week, but still sold nearly 350,000 units to take total sales to nearly 1.2m in just two weeks.
Next week is another extremely busy week for new releases. Tekken 6, Bayonetta (Japan), Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Forza Motorsport 3 (America), Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City and DJ Hero lead the way.
As always, the full data will be posted on VGChartz in the next few hours so be sure to check the charts out:
PES is a great football game, so it's good to see it selling. But Konami's getting lazy, how come they don't fix the damned keepers once and for all
I don't know if that's encouraging or discouraging :-S
I still need to play a PES game
