Metal Gear Solid Rising: Plot Dissected

GB writes: Metal Gear Solid has been a great franchise for over two decades, with Solid Snake not only becoming the main protagonist of the series but also an iconic hero. The last Metal Gear Solid game was a stellar game and tied all loosed ends of the series and gave Solid Snake a deserving farewell. Now at E3 2009 a new Metal Gear Solid game was announced and the real surprise was that Raiden was announced as the main protagonist of the game. Now during that time a number of theories came up, but we have waited for long so that we can analyze deeply on the possible plots for the game. So here it goes:

I have been a metal gear fan for ages but for some unknown reason i am not at all hyped for this game. May be Hideo Kojima is not involved that why!

Assassin Nawabi5314d ago

mgs franchise doesn't belong to xbox...may be thats why

Natsu X FairyTail5314d ago

because it's multiplatform that's why you're not hyped.

wait a min
i smell some Fed up things in here

1- a different universe
2- "but a game on Gray Fox and his code name is Raiden"
now i dont know but this guy seems to know nothing about MGS
gray fox =/= Raiden

gray fox dies in zanzibar before they make him a robot
and that happens before MSG1
that means ( i think ) some where AFTER MGS3 and before MGS1

and we all Know
MG4 is the last in the time chain
so
its like this
MGS3-MGS:PW- MGS1 - MGS2 - MGS4 - (MGS:R)
so that makes no sense AT ALL

and he daies again in MGS1

+ snake knows gray fox
in MGS1 he knows him just after he sees him
of coure he'll know if gray fox is Raiden
he'll say something about it some where in the game
but he DONT

"Metal Gear Classic Remake"
again this makes no sense
MGS4 happened after MGS1
and at the first point he says
"Events will take place after Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots"

add to that Raiden shows for the first time in MGS2 and thats after MGS1
so there is no riden before MGS2

WTF ???

PlayStation X5314d ago (Edited 5314d ago )

cause your playing as raiden, thats why.
and it'll most probably be a hack n slash more than a stealth game.

im more looking forward to peace walker anyway, even if i do have to use the sh1tty psp controls =/

name5314d ago

Umm no, it wasn't. It was only on ps2.

hay5314d ago (Edited 5314d ago )

@Greywulf: No. MGS2: Substance was on Xbox first. Also Twin Snakes were on GC.

I'm not concerned about Rising at all and am pretty much hyped. I wonder what Kojima's new team can produce.

sikbeta5314d ago (Edited 5314d ago )

The Plot:

Raiden receive a letter from some cousin saying he has to go to Liberty City, then he join a group of 4 guys and a like-talking dog and resolve mysterious cases with fake ghosts and monsters, then he is deployed to some unknown city in Africa and face a mysterious parasite called Uroboros virus, at the end fight against Sephiroth and he transform into Super Saiyan 4 to bit him and catch all the 150 Pokemon

WTF!!! lol

Xbox Avatars Shoe5313d ago (Edited 5313d ago )

1 thing is pretty much is confirmed: MGSR will only be like 5 hours due to the DVD9 limitations. KP is saying that MGSR is going to look better than MGS4 and if that's true, the graphics will take up a HUGE space of the DVD9. Without much space left on the DVD9, there's not going to be much space left for levels and cutscenes.

I dont know, but i seriously think with no offence meant for xbox fans , playstation is where the franchise shud be.

ultimolu5314d ago

How could Kojima be a traitor if he isn't involved?
Not hyped for the game but let's see what they can do.

gameseveryday5314d ago

may be it was Konamis decision...and pressurized kojima in to dng so!

Godmars2905314d ago

How about seeing some gameplay since that's what people want.

Christopher_Walken5314d ago

I want to see what the gameplay is going to be.

mal_tez925314d ago

If it's classic MGS stealth gameplay then I'll definitely be getting it. But if they turn it into a hack n' slash buttonmasher, then I'm not touching it with a 20 foot pole.

Two Decades Later, the Original Splinter Cell is Still a Masterpiece

They don't make games like this anymore.

Too dated in my book. The AI is way too unpredictable to be acceptable today. It's definitely a game of its time.

Jingsing12h ago(Edited 11h ago)

Agreed with those sentiments. The quality of the CPU controlled characters make or break a stealth game and they are pretty poor in all the Splinter Cell games by today's standard. This is what led me to playing Spies vs Mercs all the time in later games just to get a better stealth experience from a real person. Arguably Sony are making better stealth games albeit not Tom Clancy stuff.

TheProfessional7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

You should stick with fortnite or one of the countless bloodborne style games then. What a joke.

rlow18h ago

I had a good time with the game. It is a product of its time. But when it came out it was a must have game for a lot of people. I wish Ubisoft would make another game in the series or at least a reboot.

vgvill6h ago

They are making a remake, I think. I loved the original game when it was released, but I tried to play it again in recent years and just couldn't get on with it. The same with the older Hitman games.

PrecursorOrb5h ago

Yeah chaos theory still holds up though I gotta say. If you’re a fan of the series I highly suggest you go back to that one. Ubi has said they are remaking sc for “modern audiences”. I don’t have a lot of faith for the future of that company

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast6d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk5d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast5d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk5d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

1nsomniac5d ago

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk5d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
