IGN: GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony Review

The Ballad of Gay Tony is the perfect way to close out the GTA IV saga. Finally, we know what happened to the diamonds stolen in the main story a year-and-a-half ago. Though Luis Lopez doesn't have much of a story at all (this is the ballad of his boss, after all), the supporting cast is phenomenal. There are a lot of hilarious moments and ludicrous missions that will please GTA fans. Sure, a few of the missions fall flat compared to the wild nature of others, but all-in-all this is a fine package and worth 20 bucks.

Great review, I´m off to by it right now.

mint royale5300d ago

Awesome for GTA fans and 360 owners, I may pick this up.

Godmars2905300d ago (Edited 5300d ago )

Unless you only have a PC or PS3. Which is sort of the point.

Its also why you're going to get disagrees. Also why I'm going to get them too :p

Natsu X FairyTail5300d ago

oh sh1t the news is on the main page at the moment?

AAA

before everybody starts making comments.

eh eh eh

HDgamer5300d ago

Well PC does have mods. The Lost and Damned mod proves that.

locos855300d ago

People still play this?!?!

Killjoy30005300d ago (Edited 5300d ago )

Lost and The Damned bored me to tears, but The Ballad of Gay Tony seems to capture the charm of what has made the series so great. I just might have to check this out. I was expecting this exclusive DLC to add all new cities though.

Aaron Greenterd5300d ago

My poor customers: they never learn =P

Xbox Avatars Shoe5300d ago

IGN gave GTAIV a perfect 10 so I don't trust their GTA reviews anymore.

i3eyond the Circle5300d ago

Got my copy sitting right in front of me.

Going to let it marinate tho.

Almost done with Magna Carta and Borderlands going to get those games beaten before anything.

dreamcast5300d ago

Magna Carta lololol...

That's a strange excuse to not play Gay Tony yet.

HDgamer5300d ago

Drop magna carta and put in Gay Tony.

shutupandplay5300d ago

lol. Just to let the ps3 fanboys know, AAA.

Sunny_D5300d ago

yes, AAA DLC. Have fun poking a stick at a dead horse.

W831SOLIDSNAKE5300d ago

Once more I laugh at your dumb $20 download HAHAHAHA it's not even a real game HAAHAHA poor bots that's all u get to play this year a DOWNLOAD, HAHAHA..... but but it's "AAA" so freaking sad. Go chew your bone XBOTS I love to see u scatter like voltures and brag over a bone.... LMAO

what a great day :)

chrisulloa5300d ago

2 AAA's in one month, hahahahaha

OhNoez5300d ago

ill remember you when AAAAAA Agent is about to be released, i will LOL at you, see ya

AliTheBrit195300d ago

Of course its a real game.

Its coming out on its own disk is it not? as its own individual game, no need for GTA IV to play (Episodes From Liberty City)

Ballad is 10 hours long, as is Lost and damned, with their own multiplayer and own plot, characters, you name it.

So what exactly doesn't make it a full game? because it has the title "expansion" ?...

hahaha bloody moron

You cry because you can't have it :)

5300d ago
Pirateogta5300d ago

How do you know Agent will be AAA when there is practically no information whatsoever about it? There isn't even a release date! Your comment makes you look jealous and desperate.

Can't wait to play TBoGT tomorrow! More gameplay and higher presentation values than most full games for $20.

The Master Chief5300d ago

Feels good to be the #1 main console this generation. Maybe next time PS3.(PS3rd)

nix5300d ago

last time i remember, IGN gave GTAIV 10/10. and we all know how terrible the game is... 9.2 probably means 7.2.

but whatever rocks your boats.

Sm0k3y_Bac0n5300d ago (Edited 5300d ago )

lol, just read exactly the same story on this site.

Anyway slightly off topic. Anyone know when MW2 reviews are coming out?

Sm0k3y_Bac0n5300d ago

assuming disagrees are people not knowing when the reviews come out for MW2. Ah well. They cant be long now. And good score for BoGT. I kind of wonder though. Did R* itentially remove content that was found in GTA:SA to release as DLC so the DLC would sell more?

I woupdn't update the game. It doesnt have game breaking issues and I would lose one of the radio stations.

jeromeface1533d ago

steam has removed this option

monkey6021533d ago

"Thankfully, players will seemingly easily be able to update their game to the new version easily by simply installing "

What the fuck kind of sentence structure is that?!

GTA4 was the worst game in the entire series and the only one I've ever truly hated

SegaSaturn6691533d ago

I really liked the tv stations on gta 4. Other than that, I agree. Horrible racing missions.

CrimsonWing691533d ago

I guess they can’t afford editors.

I loved 4 ...want a remaster for PS4 Xbox one

Orionsangel1533d ago

They'll never get rid of how slow and sluggish these games feel. Your character and vehicles feel too heavy. Even on the most powerful rigs. I love how GTAV fixed it though.

Profchaos1533d ago (Edited 1533d ago )

Your character was a mid 30/40 year old personally I felt like he controlled the way most people in that age range move.
And it had better driving physics than v did cars have weight and it felt correct compared to v everything drives like a sports car and turns corners on a dime

DerfDerf1533d ago

The driving physics in GTA4 were far superior to 5. Everyone complains because of the physics engine used but it's one of the things I love about 4

Looking back to 2009 and the action packed Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony

Nick writes: "If you fancy some GTA nostalgia, and/or want to dive back into the GTA IV package in its entirety, I would say that if nothing else strikes your fancy, The Ballad of Gay Tony should."

One of the very rare cases where DLC was done right. This is what DLC should have been, a proper expansion pack, not what it has become today.

PowerOfTheCloud1642d ago

Right, the dlc's were better than the actual game imo

"A recent update also added a fully functioning casino that requires players to use real money, in order to buy fake money, then gamble it!" This is not true, again this is a bullshit narrative being pushed, which is furthest from the truth.

PoSTedUP1721d ago

Ill always like 3 the best. Still play it till this day.

CertifiedGamer1721d ago

Grand Theft Auto 3 is the game that made it into a console selling game so that's why its my number #1
