As of late, Rare has begun an interesting ritual of releasing daily screenshots of the Xbox Live Arcade remake of Perfect Dark. They did it yesterday and today and hopefully they keep at it.

Can't wait, this is going to be a day 1 for me!

ape0075340d ago

hehe not day 1 that's for sure

for me,MINUTE 1 BUY

the greatest fps of all time without a shadow of a doubt,to this day,I've never played anything like pd64 and ge007

Elven65340d ago

lol agreed, this is the closest anyone can get to Goldeneye 007 on current gen consoles in the near future. I hope this sells well enough to warrant "renewed interest" in the PD franchise.

It also deserves good sales because 4J has done an amazing job with porting over all of Rare's N64 games.

EvilCackle5340d ago

I am really shocked that getting GoldenEye 007 onto XBLA (or anywhere, really) has been such a difficult task. Those companies are really giving up easy money.

darthv725340d ago

wouldn't perfect dark zero already look better than this game? PDZ is a full release 1st gen 360 game taking advantage of what the system offered then. This game is a remake of N64 title. How much better could it really get?

Unless it isnt about the imagery but the gameplay...?

HolyOrangeCows5340d ago (Edited 5340d ago )

Glad to see that it's the same case in Perfect Dark.
I'll definitely be getting this.

Oh the golden days of Rare....

EDIT: It's going to have online MP, too. Heck yeah!

Elven65340d ago

Darthv: Perfect Dark Zero was a prequel, the XBLA release is of the original N64 game but with HD/updated textures, XBL multiplayer, etc.

Blaze9295340d ago

I can not WAIT for this to come out. 1080p and online multiplayer!? Ulgh its killing me.

ape0075340d ago (Edited 5340d ago )

pd64 and pdz,it's really a day and night difference, perfect dark zero was one of the biggest disappointments ever,no way it can even touch the first classic, the original rare team left the company shortly after, new devs came in,they gave us a totally generic and stupid game and sticked it with a legendary name(perfect dark)pdz looks and feels nothing like pd64,HECK even the new art team couldn't give the same feeling in pd xbla in their new character skins, and new textures ,look at the new elvis above, the new textures, the new enemies, the new female characters, the new weapon model, the new farsight look, they look a bit generic, they don't FEEL special like before

Day 1, but if this was goldeneye... damn

Alex_Mexico5340d ago

Goldeneye 007 was great and all, but seriously, PD was better than G007 in every concivable way. Campaign, graphics, story, and most of all: multiplayer.

Poopface the 2nd5340d ago

Im still looking forward to this. It was apparent taht PD pushed the 64 a little past its limits.

With the addition on online this game will have more multiplayer modes than almost every game being released today.

The original had splitscreen, bots, challenges, co-op, and the very awesome counter-op mode. Where one player is the enemies and the other is joana. Allowing these modes over live will be amazing.

President Tretton5340d ago

I enjoy the superior N64 version. Perfect Dark Zero sucked, I don't have much hope for this "remake"

LuHawk225340d ago (Edited 5340d ago )

to bad your wife pre-ordered the game your family

Xlll5340d ago

"to bad your wife pre-ordered the game your family"

What is this "your family" game you speak of?

-MD-5340d ago

Perfect Dark Zero was awesome.

mastiffchild5340d ago

Be careful what you wish for I say. Last year I would have been with you leading the Goldeneye bandwagon-but not since firing up the N64 with a few likeminded m,ates and all of us being really upset that the magic had REALLY faded.

It was SO ploddy(I'm obviously ignoring any graophical, expected, shortfall, natch)and awkward to play compared to even the worst revent shooters that our collective rose tinted view of a true classic was blown away, sadly.

So, for me, it's the gameoplay that's just too slow and too loose for today's more edvanced shooter players and if you change the gameplay as well as buff up the textures and characters you're bordering on a full remake.

I'm still interested to see how PD turns out as it's another game that todays FPS owe much to but, like G'eye I suspect that it's needed a little more than a polish to stand any chance in todays market. I'm not knocking the games whatsoever but I do think that many people, if they actually played the originals today would find their memories don't match the reality when we've played Halo and COD and KZ2. We may be putting our heroes into a battle they just don't have the ammo to win.

I just hope it doesn't end u[p hurting the legacy of gaes that were once the pinnacle of their genre and influenced shooters right up to the present. When I go back and play an early Mario or Sonic it's still great. Still just as I remember. Nut platforming isn't the same thing and those games still stand up in terms of gameplay whereas the shooter todayis just so muchbetter than it was then that they might have to change so much the games lose their identity just so they don't get blown away by their more sophisticated modern counterparts.

It's a sad thing but a real worry, for me at least. Remember, as well, tht when they tried, with PDZ, t update the series they practically killed it forever. That game was a real disaster to me-worse than the likes of Haze as that had no history to crap on! It might be fine but DO be careful about these things as it's just not so straughtforwards as shining it up and releasing it nd watching it wow people all over again. Mu little boy just thought Goldeneye was some kind of joke or a game someone made in their room in a couple of hours so unless PD is severely altered I fear a siilar fate for it fromthose who just didn't play games back then-the rest of us sometimes forget just how much and how quickly some genres have progressed of late.

I really hope I'm totally wrong but honestly, I REALLY wish we'd left Goldeneye in our memeories where it would have gone on shining like it should have as a game that changed the face of shooters into something more like what we play today. Playing it today I didnt find a charming naivety or anythuing romantic about it-no, I just felt gutted that time had veen so very cruel to it and didn't rememver it feeling so clumsy and plodding at the time either. Makes me wonder just how basic other shooters and action games must have been back then!

Again, I'm not knocking or trying to pi55 on anyones chips but do worry just how PD has aged.

NecrumSlavery5340d ago

Just needs an HD polish and Cleaner controlling and it'll be fine. I can't believe nintendo gave this game away though.

The_Zeitgeist5340d ago

A great game is a great game. As a PS3 owner I have to admit I am jealous of this. But lucky for me I have the N64 ROM.

The hits just keep on coming. Will not be surprised if this gets canned. It already got rebooted and they had to bring on an outside studio to try and help developement. Some of the original creatives have left the project.

But I will say, just wait until the MS showcase. If you don't see it there, then alarm bells should start ringing.

Snookies1226d ago

God, please don't screw this one up Microsoft! I am keeping my expectations super low, but Perfect Dark (the original) holds such a special place in my childhood. I want this to turn out well SO bad.

helicoptergirl25d ago

Are you expecting the game to be shown at the upcoming Xbox Showcase?

neutralgamer199226d ago

Just cancel it because we know you won’t be happy with its sales performance while giving it away on GP day one. GP is the biggest issue for developers and that affects the sales. No one can deny that now. GP equals to good deal for gamers and bad deals for AAA development. Take two CEO said it and he was 100% right. There are certain games that make sense on GP but not every game. 20 million gamers playing a game on GP doesn’t mean much to MS it seems because they still want sales. Just please start releasing all games on other platforms otherwise Phil is next now. You can’t spend 80 billion and be this bad

Inverno26d ago

The studio was founded in 2018. It's still not adding up in my head how it can take 6 years to develop a game, with a whole dev studio working on it.

jjb198125d ago

This is the only upcoming MS game I'm looking forward to. I hope it doesn't get canceled.

Perfect Dark would be cool but I’m hoping for Fable. I’m really interested where they’ve taken the game.

Tacoboto31d ago

Looking ahead now, I'd say Avowed is what I'm looking forward to most in the fall. Obsidian's been nothing but quality and consistency so I can't wait to see what they've been cooking
