IGN UK: LostWinds: Winter Of The Melodias Review

IGN UK: "There haven't been many download-only titles that have commanded the kind of breathless attention that Frontier's LostWinds has had, and for good reason. For a mere 1000 Wii Points, the Cambridge studio delivered a mini British Zelda; a slick, breezily artistic 2D platform-puzzler with more charm and innovation than most games four times the price. It might have been short, but few complained. We just wanted more, and now we've got it"...

Rating Description
out of 10
9.5 Presentation
Even more polished than the original LostWinds. Quite simply one of the best looking 2D games ever made.
9.0 Graphics
Beautiful character design allied to wonderful backdrops, subtle animation and a plethora of charming touches.
8.0 Sound
With no voiceovers, the attention turns to a calming, pastoral soundtrack and gentle effects.
9.0 Gameplay
Broadly the same as last time, but with greater variety, stronger, more elaborate puzzles and no needless wandering.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
Clocking in at around four hours, it doesn't outstay its welcome, but isn't a game you'll necessarily feel the need to return to once you're done. For the money, you won't complain.
