Can Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 raise the bar higher than its predecessor?: GB

I am a religious Modern Warfare player. It is without a doubt that I will play MW2. Even if the game is nothing but more maps I will love it. If they improve upon Modern Warfare then they have done me more favors than I could have asked for. Cannot wait for this game!

@Syronicus Why are you happy with a mediocre update? Infinity Ward made an incredibly addictive game that was new and fresh when it came out. That being said, it's been two years and to just throw on a few more perks and extend killstreaks, while not improving upon the first game should be insulting to gamers. Look at the jump naughty dogg made from uncharted 1 to uncharted 2. You feel like you'll get your money's worth buying that game. MW2 seems like DLC to me. I'll be buying it, but probably a used copy.

As not to type it all over again, I already answered your question in the same post you are replying to. Update or not, I love this game. I had the same feelings about Rainbow Six Vegas. Number two was simply an update but it gave me more maps to play. If all Infinity Ward did was add new maps to Modern Warfare, I would have been equally happy. The game is just that much fun for me.

Some like simple games, lol.. Nothing wrong with it. But, yeah I didn't catch the fever of COD4 either. After going through the ranks 5 times. I was bored to tears with all the repetitive game play. It was like doing the same thing over and over and over. Even player's going to the same spots at the start of each map. Throwing those random nades in the air at the same spots at the start. That and the lag, then the cheaters... I was like forget it, lol.

The game itself is fun though. :D

Get ready for the 10/10 scores to come rolling in with MW2 regardless the overall quality. Multiplayer will be called new exciting and genre changing and the single player regardless of length will be called the best single player campaign this generation.

You'd be a fool to not see the writing on the wall with game reviews these days. Games aren't judged on their own merits.

No, I bet the reviews will say it is more of the same but improved in many ways, perhaps a bit more annoying in others.

The only issue with this is that more of the same is more of what many people think is the most popular and best multiplayer experience. I am one of them. While halo is great fun, Killzone is beautiful, both pale in comparison to MW. My opinion, and that of many others. MW2 will likely be game of the year for many sites. Sony fanboys just don't want to admit that any multiplat game can be better than their exclusives. I disagree, I had much more fun playing Dead Space for example than Killzone or MGS4. Wake up and enjoy good games. If MW2 was exclusive to your precious console you would be lauding its coming from the rooftops like you all are about Uncharted.

I took it as the controls play like the first. If you knew the controller config for MW1, MW2 will feel similar in that aspect.

they are addressing a lot of the problems with the first and all the feedback from fans about how to improve it. one thing they said they have addressed is the enemy respawning in SP which is a good thing.

and the first one didn't set any new standards. it had the same old gameplay from previous ones just in a modern setting. COD has always been very playable and very enjoyable. respawning, inability to get in and out of vehicles, no destruction, the most linear game on the market, invisible walls... the list goes on. show me the innovation. so it had pretty graphics, big deal, it seems that is all it takes these days to get recognition.

To me MW2 seems to be more of the same. It will sell like hot cakes, but brings nothing new to the table. Overhyped and overpriced game...

As for GOTY, every site has it's own GOTY and by the end of the year we will see many games declaring themselves GOTY, so not much to fight about for Uncharted or MW2. Both can be equally GOTY.

i wonder will they reduce the auto-aim feature? i have been playing codmw to get back into the game after KZ2 and aiming has never been so easy. i can feel my reticle being pulled in the direction of an enemy, leading me to randomly fire at nothing and see a kill register from my bullet.

the auto aim takes away the tactical(if there was any) feel of the game.

i will still buy it and enjoy it.

I think it's CRAZY that people base a game off of graphics. Yes graphics and progress overtime is needed and expected. But to be so greedy to hate a game just because it's the same old same old or doesn't push to a KZ2 standard is beyond me.
