Two Ratchet and Clank: ACIT demos coming to PSN

While a lot of the media is focused on the imminent release of Uncharted 2 just a fortnight away, Insomniac's latest entry into the long running Ratchet and Clank franchise is also due at the end of the month. Those looking forward to the conclusion of the Future arc have not one, but TWO demos of the title to look forward to.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Uncharted 2, but I think it's whack that Insomniac's games always kinda get the marketing shaft from Sony. Uncharted drowned out Tools of Destruction, LBP got the bulk of marketing instead of R2, and now the media and Sony is treating Uncharted 2 like the second coming of Christ.

I completely agree with this. With R2 is was even worse, and with Ratchet its the same way. At every game show R2 was pushed aside to hype up KZ2 which at the end of the day still didnt do as well as Resistance. Then they did the same with uncharted, R2 just had the added annoyance of LBP.

The thing is Insomniac still has the best selling games on Ps3 and still continues to carry PS3 on there shoulders. I dont know if its because Sony and Insomniac talk and said "hey these games will sell themselves, help your other games" or not, but if i was Insomniac im looking at those decisions of going multi now...just to say we want some exposure too! I just hope they stay exclusive....

They've shipped over 32 million PS exclusives over the last 10 years, so they would definitely be a loss to Sony. I would go as far as to say Insomniac and Naughty Dog are the pillars on which Sony stands - none of their internal teams can even match the output these guys do.

I know what you mean, but to be fair, I think they started being serious about marketing just this year, well actually this past summer, since they said that it would be one of their main goals in most interviewers they've talked to in 09 with the Slim launch, PSP GO and everything.

Hopefully Ratchet gets it too, great platformer needs to be recognized by many.

Exactly. All of insomniac's games are must buys for me no matter what but not everyone gives them the respect they deserve.

Besides minor problems with R2 (no weapons wheel), they've consistently made high quality game after high quality game; in record time too.

Let's just see how well they get advertised...

Hype is a funny thing, Sony are directing their advertising towards the game that's already on a lot of people's minds to take it to the next level.

ACIT will still do a million+, but Insomniac just don't have the hype that Uncharted 2 has or LittleBigPlanet did, so it's harder to justify spending advertising money on the game, when you have a hyped game in the same time.

I see no reason why you wouldn't pick up a Crack in Time, though, it's doing the same thing as Uncharted to Uncharted 2 and going the extra mile to deliver an awesome game.

I rather have PSN infested with Uncharted 2 players who I can play online with rather than ACIT that doesn't even have online play... only trophies. Or does it? Either way, UC2 appeals more to me than ACIT, but to each his own I guess

See, I ordered both, UC2 and ACIT. Will have to wait until November. But those are the two showcase titles for the PS3 this fall. Must haves, so to speak. I'd like to see more ACIT marketing, though. I agree. Especially with the price cut and thus the wider PG audience in the public. UC2 is and will be a great game, but there are Mom's and Dad's out there to find a reason to buy a PS3 for their 10 year old. And it ain't UC2 to sell a PS3 to them (maybe to Daddy).

@1.8 - But Ratchet does have a very good amount of gameplay, at least 15 hours for the first play through. And you usually play through it twice, because they add extras for the second round.

I love the Ratchet & Clank Future series. Damn good games. Not just for kids. Everyone can have fun with them. I see no need for multiplayer as there are so many good multiplayer-games around. I just want a long long long singleplayer game and I will be extremely happy.

I don't think multiplayer is a necessity, but the Ratchet multi in some of the other games kicked ass. Yes, they're well worth the money on their own merit, but multiplayer would still be a great addition.

You don't have to put multiplayer into anything ..( and by that i mean any game )

There were good solo only adventures this year ( infamous coming into my mind )And i'd rather enjoy a good adventure game than a game diluted with multi player .. ( uncharted 2 being the exception since they just doubled the size of the team to separate the two things and deliver )

I agree with you.. Its kind of ironic that 3 years ago the PS3 was the butt of all jokes in the gaming world due to a big lack of games.. Now just 3 years later the PS3 has so many games that they cant keep up with marketing ALL of them so they have to cherry pick the games they want to advertise the most.

I mean seriously, the PS3 problem now is just too many games! I mean i almost totally forgot about Ratchet and Clank and i honestly never even heard of Demons Souls until the good reviews started flooding N4G the last few days.. Lol believe it or not I just found out a couple days ago that there was even a Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and that it just came out.

Im tired of everyone saying "Why cant sony Advertise like MS" simply because the 360 is a one trick pony.. HALO, thats the only franchise they rely on to keep the 360 alive, im sure if Sony only had ONE franchise to rely on they would be pouring all their marketing dollars on that one title just like MS does. But since Sony just plain ole has way too many quality games they just dont have the time and resources to fully advertise ALL OF THEM.

I mean just think about this for a moment. Tekken is one of the biggest franchises in gaming and Tekken 6 comes out in just a few weeks! yet NOONE HAS EVEN TALKED ABOUT IT OR ANYTHING AND TEKKEN IS HUGE. I know Tekken 6 isnt a PS3 exclusive but its just more proof that the problem of TOO many games flooding the market can really drown out each other..

their games always do well, even when they aren't being overhyped.

they've earned their fanbase over years of making excellent games, just like Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch (although Sucker Punch was always the behind ND and Insomniac; thanks to inFAMOUS, that's changed a bit).

if i recall, Uncharted 1 didn't get much fanfare at the time of it's release (during "The Great PS3 Hate Wave of 2007"), and it wasn't until games like MGS4, LBP, and Killzone 2 came along that people's attitude towards all things PS3 began to soften.

Resistance never got it's fair shake as far as the media is concerned, because in their eyes, it's always forced to live up to some standard that Gears of War has apparently set that i just don't see.

Ratchet, thankfully, has been around longer than Gears and PS3 hate, so it gets the credit it deserves, and the fanbase will always support the games (i'm one of them).

people also forget that the Resistance franchise (both games), have done VERY well for themselves, considering that they are FPSes in a market flooded with FPSes. the uniqueness of Insomniac's brand of game design is what makes their franchises burn longer than most.

when the majority of franchises created in the last 10 years fizzle after part 3, Insomniac has managed to create 7 console Ratchet games, each quality, with fun gameplay and excellent design.

fans from the PS2 era will still follow the series until it stops being fun.

Resistance is carving it's own fanbase also, and part 3 will no doubt be even more impressive than part 2 (i happened to love Resistance 2 more than the 1st, though i really enjoyed part 1 also).

There have been many good demos lately. NGS2 demo, UC2 Multiplayer demo, Lost Planet 2 demo, Batman: AA demo and now Ratchet & Clanck: ACIT demo. Nice :)

The guys saying that Insomniac doesnt get enough marketing from sony need to realise that Insomniac is not First party.

Sony will market Uncharted beucase they completely own it.

Insomniac though own their own games, theyre not really tied with sony so they cant expect sony to pay for their advertising.

Insomniac will do their own advertising, but they generally do this online through lots of interviews and lectures on how they make their games.

And 2 demos of course =P

downloading the ratchet demo first. clank is a cool robot but i don't like his gameplay segments as much as ratchet's.
