In the economic hard times of late, many industries have been greatly effected. One, in particular, is NASCAR. Stock car racing is one of the biggest sports in the country. Now I know many people will argue with that because they might not watch NASCAR, but just look logically; the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama holds 125,000 people, the Daytona 500 is one of the most watched single day events every year, right behind the Super Bowl, and sponsors pay millions of dollars just to get their logo on a car knowing that if that car wins, the fans buy the product. But recently, with companies not willing to shell out so much money, sponsors have gone down, ticket sales have dropped and the revenue of NASCAR in general is low. And it doesn't stop there…
Phil writes, "The kart racer is my preferred type of racing experience. Everything from fantastical racing locales and tracks to item combat is what I like in my racing games. When you have colorful tracks, whimsical characters, and wacky items, you have a game I'll probably enjoy. This top ten list is dedicated to kart racers, but not the ones you'd probably think of first when the words "kart racer" come to mind. No, these games are ones that don't get as much credit, which I think is as great as a flat tire on the final lap. With this list of my ten favorite underrated kart racers, it's my hope that getting the word out on these games might give these games some of the attention that they truly deserve."
Crash Team Racing on the Playstation was always my guilty pleasure. Playing as Tiny ^%^
CTR and Sonic SEGA All-Star Racing Tranformed are probably 2 of the best kart racing games I've ever played. Mario Kart is always great. I didn't care much for ModNation Racing. It wasn't deep enough. Never tried the "Road Trip" version though, so maybe that one was better.
I was really surprised with Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. It definitely gave me that Mario Kart fix I wanted on PC. I do hope they make another one.
Steam had/has all the sonic and sonic racing on sale now for like 3 bucks each, I just bought Sonic CD game for 2 bucks.
Triverse pulls three kart racing titles that probably should have never been made (one may not be, who knows).
Yeah. But hasn't every genre? Isn't that why we're getting weird, genre-melting games like Catherine? Anyway - if you don't like it, don't buy it.
Triverse takes five licensed titles from over the years and analyzes why they weren't quite right for the genre used and what type of game they should have been.
I am not entirely sure how licensing works but if I recall correctly GT5 bought the Nascar license but again I don't know if that affects EA drastically or not. You would think it probably is related somehow...
hey theres always gt5
Oh well, they always rehashed the same game every year. Atleast in GT5, fans of these games will be racing in 1080p glory with the most photorealistic graphics as they go round and round.
GT5 will have NASCAR for you...no worries
