Monte Cristo's massive simulation title Cities XL has been listed for pre-purchase on Steam with a limited edition bonus thrown in for those who buy the game before it's release on Thursday, October 8.

Ah Cities XL - the game that was so heavily criticized by its own supporters that the developers shut down their official forum, claiming that further customer interaction would be dealt through outside forums instead. Apparently it would be a greater customer support that way. Did I mention that it's an MMO with monthly payments?
There's actually a single player mode as well, for those who are into gimped versions of full games.
Still, it looks really nice.
