Fumito Ueda Wants To See Ico And Shadow Of The Colossus on PS3

From 1up.com- As part of an interview at this year's Tokyo Game Show, Team ICO leader Fumito Ueda took time to answer a few questions provided by the 1UP community, and the most popular of these was whether we might see his games ICO and Shadow of the Colossus released on PlayStation 3 in a combo pack similar to Sony's upcoming God of War Collection.

facepalm5342d ago

Yes please...pretty please... ::puppy dog eyes::

Snoogins5342d ago

talk to God for us and make it happen!

SnuggleBandit5342d ago

I want it all...I want it now!!!!

OhReginald5342d ago

Demo of The Last Guardian!!!??? (please?)

WOOOO HOOOOOOO

that would be some freaking sweet deal.

Aclay5342d ago (Edited 5342d ago )

I already own both games and have beaten both numerous times, but both of them are among my most favorite PS2 games of all time and I'd buy them both again in a heartbeat if Re-Mastered in HD with Trophies just like God of War on the PS3.

ICO and SoTC were both beautiful looking games on the PS2, but it would truly be a dream to play through them in HD.

Jaces5342d ago

Dear Lord, please let this be!

ReservoirDog3165342d ago

I don't care that I already have both of these games. I don't care how much it costs.

This needs to happen.

Cwalat5342d ago

God of war 1&2 on PS3 HD, 60fps, Trophies

ICO and Shadow of The Colossus on PS3 HD, 60fps, Trophies

Who can say no to this?^

sunil5342d ago

How do we let the sony execs know? Where do I sign?

Seriously... It has been wished for ever since GOW Collection has been announced

The Great Melon5342d ago

Just even hearing him consider it is amazing. I am not asking for much. 720p or 1080p support, a few better textures, maybe mix up the spots you need to strike on the colossus and you have got my money, support, and respect.

Viper75342d ago

Haven't managed to play these 2 yet so I too would be interested. I am not playing with my Ps2 too much these days because of Ps3, Ps3 and "decent" gaming pc so having these classics to run on ps3 with improved graphics and all would be great (even tough my ps3 has backwards compatibility (eu launch ps3))

house5342d ago

can you give me a hell yeah?? haha

Tony999Montana5342d ago

I think we can officially stamp this as 'N4G Demanded'. Now make it happen Sony, the internet has spoken.

Timesplitter145342d ago

I'd buy this at the speed of light

kingOVsticks5342d ago

Listen up! WE ALL WANT ICO AND SOTC ON A BLU RAY WITH TROPHIES AND UPDATED TO HD!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN! NOW!!!!

gaffyh5342d ago

I think it's online petition time :D lol.

vhero5342d ago

Meh as much as a few on here wont admit they are a niche market title. They didn't sell in the millions like other big games on PS2 and they certainly won't sell as much on PS3.

Jamegohanssj55342d ago

Give me this and an updated Vice City with trophies and I'll play my PS3 everyday.

DaTruth5342d ago (Edited 5342d ago )

I would love this, but how many people even know about these games? I loved Ico, but completely missed SotC!

@above: I want all the GTA3's on one disc with all maps accessible at once, that you can fly to in a jet and the San Andreas passenger airplane! Oh, and in HD! And throw in Hawaii with Islands and jungle areas!

ThanatosDMC5342d ago

That'd be awesome! I havent played Ico. Shadow of the Colossus was awesome!

Ju5342d ago

I haven't played either one, but Shadow of the Colossus is still full price in retail AFAIS. If they get a 720p version out, then I know why I have waited so long. Bring it on.

Jamegohanssj55342d ago

Truth, now that's just crazy.

Chubear5342d ago

If Sony listened with GoW1&2, there's a good chance they'll listen with this one. Don't know if Sony's going to try to keep it as doing this with only 100% Playstation exclusive games and I don't remember if Ico and SotC were multiplat last gen but these games and their developers sure do have a strong, undeniable following with PS fans.

Don't know when Last Guardian is supposed to come out. If it's next year then Sony should have their development team working on it right now but if it's in 2011 then they should start work on it pretty soon I'd guess.

Cenobia5342d ago

ICO and SotC were both made by Ueda himself, with Team ICO (they are also developing TLG). Team ICO is a first party Sony developer, so the games have always been exclusive.

I really hope this happens. My copy of ICO got destroyed, and it's price brand new might exceed that of gold.

mfwahwah5342d ago (Edited 5342d ago )

@Vhero

Unlike MS, SONY doesn't care about the sales all the time every time. I lost the interview (it was at GDC or TGS of '08 if I recall correctly, and from a European website: maybe Finnish or Swedish), but Yoshida himself said that despite Ico's poor sales, he knew he would let Team ICO release another game because of the critical acclaim. He understands that SONY gamers LOVE their good games, and he wants us happy.

I am VERY confident after seeing this that they will be released on Blu Ray. As much as people like Trent Reznor want to believe that SONY is Blu Ray first and gaming second, that is COMPLETELY off. SONY loves to provide good games, and they'll definitely be taking this idea seriously (oh, and SotC sold ~ a million copies. Tack on 4-5 years of time for people to have heard about it from EVERY "Top 10 Best Games" list as well as hype from The Last Guardian, and you'll get some bigger numbers).

starvinbull5342d ago

Day one purchase guaranteed.

Like these games or not, if you complete them, then you have experienced two unique seminal gaming moments.

Major_Tom5342d ago

Perhaps we should send an open letter to SCEJ and SCEA to get ICO+SOTC on a Bluray.

ThanatosDMC5341d ago

Shadow is $20 for a new game. You could get a used one at Gamestop or some website for less though.

I have searched all over Los Angeles looking for Ico. No Luck.

Aclay5342d ago

It's because ICO is a pretty rare game, that's why you can't find it anywhere... you'll probably have to get it Online if you ever want to buy it though, and most Used copies alone go for $30-40+ bucks and up

ICO came out in 2001, but when I bought ICO back in 2002, it took me AGES to find a copy... and believe it or not, even though I bought it in 2002, I couldn't even find a New copy in stores where I bought video games, and it took me several weeks before I finally tracked down a copy, and I was only able to track down a Used copy.

ReservoirDog3165342d ago

This is the only way you're finding it.

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html...

Haha and I'm in LA too.

The Great Melon5342d ago (Edited 5342d ago )

You should try a Fry's Electronics. I remember seeing that game for several years in that store without knowing the brilliance of the game. They couldn't get rid of the several copies they had. Didn't look into the game until after I finished Shadow of the Colossus. I really wish they used the Japanese or European cover art for the US, because more people would have bought the game including me right when it came out if it had a better cover art.

Rifle-Man5342d ago

I bought one off Ebay for about $60. It's in mint condition, though. Still, that's pretty pricey.

shadow27975342d ago

I saw it at my GameStop for $20, but didn't buy it. Seemed quite expensive at the time. Haha. Hopefully, I'll get lucky and there will be another one there soon.

mfwahwah5342d ago

I just checked Amazon.com

Ico new is from $115 to $999... Used from $33 to $80.

Shadow of the Colossus is only $20 new at the cheapest.

George Sears5342d ago

I wouldn't get it since I already got them both but this will be great for people who haven't played them before. They did re-release ICO for Europe near SotC release so it could be possible that they can re-release them near The Last Guardian's date just to garner more fans.

One of my fav devs.

Panthers5342d ago

Re-release with trophies and HD on bluray. I never played either of them so this would be great.

Cenobia5342d ago

I'd also like a "director's cut" or something like that for ICO. The EU version had a different ending (I think it was unlockable), and a secret weapon. I think it also had subtitle text for Yorda and the Queen (although that may have been in the US version as well, I don't remember).

whothedog5342d ago

Click Disagree if you are going to pass.

Ravage275342d ago

i never like this agree/disagree voting thingy, but i guess i'll make an exception THIS TIME :)

ICO and SoTC bundle PLEASE!!!

The Great Melon5342d ago

DISAGREE ?!?!?!?

Who did that?!

SCThor5342d ago

Maybe Omega4 or one of his multiples accounts.

mfwahwah5342d ago

Who disagreed?

Some poor, lost soul who hasn't purchased a PS3 yet and can't play this if it gets released. That's the only possibility I see, not including "LULZ DISAGREES ARE FUNNY!"

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga1d 18h ago (Edited 1d 18h ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1821d 16h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie1d 7h ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow1d 6h ago (Edited 1d 6h ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere22h ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow8h ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

OtterX1d 19h ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney2h ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody1d 19h ago (Edited 1d 19h ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno1d 18h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Sheppard7t31d 16h ago

How did Sony kill the series?

Inverno1d 16h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

1d 1h ago
fsfsxii1d 3h ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno1d 1h ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
