Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Demo Impression (JPS)

JPS Writes: "There's not much more to say about the demo, it's really something best experienced for yourself. The gameplay is great, despite the annoying controls, and the graphics really show what the PSP is capable of. Hopefully Konami will rework the control system, because that's really the only complaint I have with the demo. Look for Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker to release sometime in 2010..."

Everytime I see Peace Walker articles, they have like 10 comments or less. Something tells me this game isn't as big only because it's not on PS3. If this was on PS3, we'd have Peace Walker vs Rising comparisons. What do you guys think? Would you rather have Peace Walker on PS3? I say yes.

Natsu X FairyTail5361d ago

well yeah its obvious kigmal!

like DS/PSP Games get less clicks from the people because they are less important in a way because we Mostly play Home consoles 1st before portable. I think.

on topic: controls will be dealth with soon.

I might get Peace walker since I already own ops and acid so why not get this one.

Foxgod5361d ago

The DS and PSP tabs are the only ones i click, because PSP/DS articles dont end up on the front page very often.
You really dont wanna miss news like that new zelda clone from EA, or Metal gear ofcourse.

All the important console news will end up on the front page anyway.

Anyone that has played the demo understands how big this game is. When well known Sony hater Kotaku says it is a very important title then you know this is a major game.

Believing it takes a fanboy war to signify this game's impact is the same mentality that thinks sales = quality.

darthv725361d ago

in this demo. Can't understand a thing (obviously) and can throw the grenades at the fence/gate and shoot barrels and still cant get off the beach.

What am I doing wrong?

Should I just turn in my PSP and go back to my dsi?

Big Boss and the Cell would be killer. Only drawback of PSP games is the analog. I hate it. But let's look on it from a different perspective. PSP games are easier and faster to make that's why we get another Metal Gear in two years, not 3 or 4. Having quality MGS on portable machine, earlier than usual leads to some conclusions:

1. We'll get Kojima's next game sooner than in 6 years from now.
2. This will be definetly something different.

Yeah, Peace Walker using the MGS4 engine would be much better on PS3.

I'm not an industry expert like some of the folks around here, but this is obviously to get people to buy a PSP Go. I'd say it worked on me, but I just bought a PSP 2000, so take that, Sony – although I 'm still really looking forward to the game.

It doesn't seem like PSP gets much love in general on N4G – a lot of the time comments come eight hours apart. I guess either the console war is more interesting or not that many people are too excited about the PSP right now.

raztad5361d ago

MGS4 engine is outdated by now. Kojima is a perfectionist, he always aim very high with his games. Peace Walker is a proof of that, so I dont expect anything from him below UC2 visual fidelity or even surpassing it. MGS4 probably is being revamped as we speak.

Rifle-Man5361d ago

True, true.

Man, if there's a Subsistence version of MGS4 in the works with extra missions, trophies AND updated graphics I will be first in line to buy it.

morganfell5361d ago

^^^^ahem. Sorry but the line starts right behind me...

Foxgod5361d ago

I may not have a ps3, but i do have a psp.

I will play this wonderful amazing piece of crap.
This crappy legendary masterpiece.

You guys confused now, agree or disagree ? :)

Foxgod5361d ago

@disagreeérs
You guys disagree that this game is amazing and wonderful?

hay5361d ago

Actually by having a negativity and hyperbolisation in one sentence makes the negativity stronger, also negativity with positive words makes it negative with certain exceptions which none of them are found in your comment.

Also world doesn't resolve around you which means you can't pick at which part exactly people disagree with.

Judging by your comment history I presume they disagree cause they think you're an as*hole.

Close_Second5361d ago

...quite short but wow, fantastic graphics! Will look at getting this when it comes out considering MGS: Portable Ops was so good.

umair_s515361d ago

I haven't played the game yet, Can you tell me how good are the graphics exactly, I mean has it eclipsed the PSP best yet?

NomadX5361d ago (Edited 5361d ago )

You just gotta love people that have no clue about things. Yeah, if you don't understand Japanese it can be difficult to figure it out, but the controls can be changed to something more traditional. I personally prefer the second control option.

Metal Slug XX is surprisingly good.

I get that The Warriors is technically a PS2 game ported over, but damn it's amazing on the PSP

The Out of Place Artifact - A Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Retrospective

VGChartz's Issa Maki: "Even to fans, the thought that a T-rated game could rank as the greatest is virtually unthinkable; how could the best Metal Gear possibly be a handheld title on a system less powerful than a PlayStation 2? Because it had to be – necessity is the mother of invention. Not only is this a full-fledged Metal Gear, the fresh spin on the gameplay draws from several sources outside of its wheelhouse. Peace Walker somehow manages to be less like its predecessor, Portable Ops, and more akin to Metal Gear Solid V. What boggles the mind is that it would be over five years before The Phantom Pain would release, an entire generation later."
