Wild Arms 6 Announced

GamerDroid: "Our source at the Tokyo Game Show was invited to a private showing of a new game – Wild Arms 6. Wild Arms 6 was announced today at the Tokyo Game Show during a press conference. Very little is know about the game as it currently stands, but one can take it'll play like Wild Arms 1 through 5. The game is set to be released in 'Late 2010 in Japan'. No word on an international version."

I just hope sony invest some cash in this, i'd really rather not having Star Ocean 4 or tales of vesperia graphics which really downplay what they system can do and for alot of people turns them off the game.

Wild arms is a great rpg franchise, they need to turn it into a strong franchise like Final Fantasy, having FF13 graphics with a great Wild Arms story would be insanely good.

Ive only played Wild Arms 1&2. They haven't aged well.

I have not played 3-5. Perhaps gameplay has been updated.

Nonetheless, I will keep an eye out for this game.

A friend of mine also mentioned this to me sometime ago. If anything, it was going to happen sooner or later. Wild ARMs is a traditional Sony JRPG series.

It is a rumor, considering there is no named source for this information. Anonymous source claims it was shown behind closed doors? Ok, fine, that's awesome if it's true, but it's definitely still a rumor. Second, it's not coming to DS or Wii. Sony owns the Wild Arms IP, so even though the games are always developed by a studio that's independent, third-party, they will always appear on PlayStation platforms. It's not like Sony's going to license out the series for production on other platforms, and the main series games have always been console-based, so if the game does exist, it's almost guaranteed to be a PS3 exclusive, with a very minor chance that it could be on PSP instead of PS3.

Argh, let this be Suikoden instead of Wild arms, the guys who made Wild arms left Konami to create their own studio, why would Konami still put energy in this series.

And media vision is indeed owned by sony.

Still, Wild arms 1 was the best.
First rpg that also did what came later known in Suikoden as the trinity system.

Media Vision is an independent studio and it isn't owned by Sony, but the Wild Arms IP is owned by Sony. This means that the name Wild Arms can only be used by Sony and they can assign any developer they want to create a Wild Arms game.

You are right about RPGs being better on the PS1. RPG sales declined in the last generation which may explain the publishers' reluctance to pour money into making (big) RPG games.

I'll wait for a confirmation before getting excited. Wild Arms games haven't ever let me down and as long as Michiko does the music, I will buy this game should they decide to bring it to the West.

BigMassacre: I thought the battle mechanics of Wild Arms 1&2 weren't all that great.

The music is excellent in both.

The stories are good, but sometimes drag on just to drag on.

I just played Wild Arms 2 for the first time in the last few weeks. I beat it. I had just played FFVII again prior to that, and Im not a HUGE FFVII fan.

I thought FFVII held up much better over time.

With the right care and spirit Wild Arms would be great on the PS3, same with Suikoden.
