First Crackdown 2 Footage

GOONL!NE writes: "GameVideos have put live a full ten minute video of the first gameplay footage of Crackdown 2.

It's off-screen from TGS, but it looks so good.

It's after the jump. 2010 is when it is out."

i smell another flop cooking.

N4XBOXG5330d ago

Indeed, xbots will disagree but at the same time they condsider Kz2, uncharted and LBP to all be flops but everyone of those outsold Flopdown...thats bot logic though.

xcox5329d ago

this looks like sh!t, embarrassing

not sure what's going on here:
bots are on crack or are we just spoiled with real nextgen goodies on ps3?

moving on

MONOLITHICIDE5329d ago

its sad that it looks just like the first 1, i loved crackdown, and i hate the story for this one, ur a super cop again or whatever now, and trying 2 take back the city from the citizens cause you effed up(police state), so now we play the SS BERGADE, thats sad the game is ur killing the revolutionists cause thatt who id be apart of, lol xbots dont like freedom i guess lol
just kiddn

ape0075330d ago

gave me some of the best gaming moments in this gen, really,I thought that crackdown 1 was just a bad game sticked with h3 beta but I was wrong

the game ended up much better than the full h3 game heh

Im really excited for crackdown 2,the gfx looks much better,it looks very clean

Greywulf5330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

Imo, the best new IP next to ME.

irish-leprecaun5330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

but at least this gamw wont be over hyped

edit @ below; its a brilliant game and i doubt crackdown will have the same amount going on screen at once let alone the lighting effects!

StanLee5330d ago

Infamous was average. Thank God the fanboy over inflation died soon after the game was released and fanboys realised the game was completely average at best.

ape0075330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

crackdown is better than infamous and prototype combined

it's so supurb, top notch game design

no way infamous proto cities, design and brilliance simply cannot be compared to the king crackdown

the city design in crackdown is terrific, second to none,Im not talking about graphics(they r good),no the city itself, how it makes for a golden game experience

crackdown have the best gameplay, design, production values than than them

the jump physics, platforming, large buildings, adventures and deep complex places in crackdown make one of the best games in this generation,it's so underrated and overlooked

gta_cb5330d ago

i agree completely (although I did really enjoy prototype hehe) but yeah I was actually one of the ones who purchased Crackdown for the game and not for the Halo 3 MP beta as i had played the Crackdown demo and thought it was amazing. and if anyone thinks i am taking the p!ss then look at my xbox 360 profile and go look at crackdown i have spent alot of time playing it :D the only annoying thing is i was kinda close getting most of the green orbs and then my game save got corrupted =(

36T5330d ago (Edited 5330d ago )

"its no infamous but at least this gamw wont be over hyped"

that's right! it's seems far from being Infamous and thank god for that. Infamous was very average. Does anybody still play this game? If Crackdown had infamous beat, Crackdown 2 will destroy it.

Nobody wants a game to be as over hyped like Killzone 2 was. Look how that turned out. Are there ever 500 people playing that game online in the US at once? I could check but i already know the answer. lol

2010 is gonna be expensive for gaming and on top of that i'll need a brand new set of toys to use on Saakings mom to keep her happy. Expensive times indeed.

only on playstaychun5329d ago (Edited 5329d ago )

You couldn't be any more wrong. I am not going to bad mouth Crackdown because I never played it, but Infamous is easily one of the best games released this year and to those who played it know just how fun it is to play the game. I went out of my way to platinum it and the powers and gfx are simply great for a sandbox game.

With just a bit more polish it could have been one of the best games out this gen. Needless to say, Sucker Punch will be more experienced for Infamous 2 and will deliver an even better game. Did you even play the game btw?

EDIT: Why do I even bother, these guys haven't even got enough bubbles to reply...

sorceror1715329d ago

Still playing it, still having fun. There are a few minor things I'd change in inFamous, but nothing major. What I like is how they *nailed* the control scheme - every power is available all the time, no menus needed. Getting around is great. It is just plain fun to play.

For all I know, Crackdown is even better - never played it. But inFamous is a lot better than "average".

raztad5329d ago (Edited 5329d ago )

Average game? you got to be kidding me. inFAMOUS is an incredible game. For one it got a story to tell, not to mention its awesome gameplay. One of the very few downers of inFAMOUS was "teh jaggiez", apart from being a PS3 exclusive of course. That's the main reason I fail to understand how mediocre looking games like ODST got away with a 9 from IGN in the visual department.

BTW, I dont understand. Are Crackdown 1 visuals very far from those shown in the video? because what I'm seeing here is not very hot.

EDIT: Oops, I almost forgot. StanLee is the same fanboy spreading the flat out lie that inFAMOUS is a 4 hour long game.

Tony P5329d ago

The combat (tail end of the video) looks much improved and more satisfying. Like it so far.

Jake11115329d ago

Crackdown was awesome when it was the only open world 3rd person shooter of that type. I really enjoyed it.

But I have to agree, Infamous is a much better game as it presents much better quality with Graphics, AI, Playability, etc.

I hate to say it but I cant bring myself to play or buy any more 360 games now that Drakes 2 has presented a level of game that is way above anything that the 360 has to offer.

I will say that I am very interested in Natal though... That may spark my 360 up again....

Jake

SevWolf5329d ago

ALRIGHT...DOUBLE U, TEEE, EFFF? There was no reason to bring up inFAMOUS whatsoever...I loved inFAMOUS, one of my favorite games this gen(great story, great gameplay, great visuals IMO), but comparing it to Crackdown is useless, all they have in common is the fact that they're both superhero games, and they both have some platforming.
I haven't played Crackdown yet, getting it really soon(can't wait :P), but Unlike most people when I play it, I will sit and enjoy it for what it is....I wont compare it to EVERY OTHER GAME THAT HAS A SIMILARITY.......and btw if you really liked inFAMOUS, you would know that when bringing it up, it's going to recieve some bashing from other people, then WHY BRING IT UP?
On Topic: I really liked the concept of Crackdown, haven't bought it yet cause I just got my 360, and Mass Effect has kept me on it :P, but this is looking REALLY GOOD, and if anyone wants to see some pretty good footage, Gametrailers has a 2-part developer walkthrough

Rainstorm815329d ago

As someone who beat infamous and crackdown, crackdown was a good game for its time infamous is a good game for 09. infamous was ahead of crackdown 1 and crackdown 2 SHOULD be ahead of infamous the same with infamous 2.

To the above poster Crackdown's city second to none??????
Liberty City is THE No. 1 city in gaming IMO. sorry

silvacrest5329d ago

why are these two games even being mentioned in the same thread....
i played them both and infamous is easily better, i actually had a reason to play it more then once for starters

this is just my opinion

@Ape, i usually agree with you but you just dropped the ball, now a days open world games should have a decent story and crackdown's one was non-exsistant while infamous had a great story, crackdown had coop but no replay value, infamous had no multiplayer but a reason to play it twice

NewZealander5329d ago

i liked the first game, but at this point the graphics look really nasty, but its not finished so ill hold off judgement for now.

GiantEnemyCrab5329d ago

Yup, loved the first game as well and I'm so hyped for 2.

Infamous shouldn't get slagged it was a great game and still right there next to Crackdown for me in Open World games. I would recommend Crackdown for anyone who hasn't tried it and has a 360 and I would recommend Infamous for anyone who has a PS3 and hasn't tried it. There is plenty of room for both.

Also, let me say I am surprised by some of the comments here giving some praise. You guys have renewed my faith in this place and bubbles to you all. So much better than fighting.

Viatrophy5329d ago

"I hate to say it but I cant bring myself to play or buy any more 360 games now that Drakes 2 has presented a level of game that is way above anything that the 360 has to offer. "

Why're people so obsessed with how good games look? Pretty much from what you've just said is "I'm not playing anything that looks worse than Uncharted 2".
It's not just about graphics. Earth Defence Force 2017 is one of the crappiest looking games around yet I'd still take it over near-enough every other game around today just because it's so much fun.

You're going to have a sh*tty gaming experience if you're only buying the games that look fantastic. You're going to miss out on so many other great titles because you (seem) to think every game which isn't on par with Uncharted 2 won't be worth playing.

pixelsword5329d ago (Edited 5329d ago )

It needs a coat of polish or two, and the AI is a little unresponsive, as they run up to the character and do nothing several times, which shows that they need to tweak a thing or two. I'm sure they are aware of what I stated if not more also; so I expect to see some improvements at the next big conference.

Using the same city can be a great thing, so hear me out:

1. They could be doing some major optimizing in terms of graphics, speed, interactivity, people, and effects, so even though you are in the same city, it may not even look like the same city.

2. It's possible that you may get a different perspective when you enter into cars or may be able to access even more things like homes

3. My only other hope is that the city isn't so "clean" this time around; Looking back, it was like a mix of Mirror's edge and Infamous.

prowiew5329d ago

Crackdown 1 was one of those games that I played just for fun. I didnt care about finishing the game or the story. Also I became addicted to those orbs

I'm a really HUGE fan of the first Crackdown. The only reason I can't see myself getting into this one is because I've played the hell out of the first and seeing the same exact map being used will make the game boring real quick. Monsters? wtf >_>

Aren't different developers creating this game?

dreamcast5330d ago

"Aren't different developers creating this game?"

Yes, but a lot of people responsible for Crackdown are working on it.

My opinion: Kinda disappointed it's using the exact same city, pretty much... plus the graphics look almost exactly the same. Am I still getting it day 1, though? Yes.

ape0075330d ago

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

it's realtime worlds+others

crackdown 2 will be bigger and baddar

DelbertGrady5330d ago

It's made by Ruffian but supervised by Dave Jones from Realtime Worlds.

And I have to admit it looks a little Ruff(!) around the edges at the moment but it's far from done and I think it will be a great game. This and Dead Rising 2 are high up on my most wanted list.

Marceles5329d ago

At least the epic explosions are still there, that was one of my favorite things about the first one

W00t w00t !

I was so Scared when I first saw the Pictures because I felt like the quality was kinda bad and stuff.

but this video shows the exact opposite!

I for once Liked the Lost planet 2 Demo and I can see some ressemblance between the two when it comes to the Aiming part of the gameplay.

I see that the smoke effects have been upgraded

Now if we could get a HD version of this video I'd feel even better.

Looking Back to 2010 with Crackdown 2 - Agent of Mayhem

Darren writes: "“XBOX NEEDS EXCLUSIVES!”. Sound familiar? It’s something that has been ringing in my ears since becoming an Xbox gamer nearly 20 years ago. It’s possibly the longest standing and harshest criticism levelled against Microsoft’s console family, and I can’t say I wholly disagree. However, there are some out there which can slip through the net every now and then. But bucking the trend was the original Crackdown, which was not one of them. It shifted a very healthy amount of units as well as drawing in universal praise from critics. A sequel then, would be a no-brainer."

It was basically crackdown 1 with zombies, was fun but corners were cut, solid game though.

Minute Man 7211389d ago

I'm still playing this, activating the beacons is a pain in the ass

IRetrouk1389d ago

Collecting those orbs and upgrading your character were addictive, it was just a shame they played it safe instead of going all out, didnt take anything away from how fun the game is though.

RamRod881389d ago

Crackdown 1 was one of the underrated gems of last gen. I loved that game. Crackdown 2 was crackdown 1 with added zombies and gave the map a paint job. Disappointing, but still enjoyed it for what it was with the added wingsuit, toybox mode and 4 player co-op. Crackdown 3 was basically what Crackdown 2 should have been.

Oh come on man, Out of all the games under M$.....really

King_Noctis1470d ago

Free is free. They could have done nothing and no one would have said anything.

So what’s the problem again?

xX-oldboy-Xx1470d ago

Sometimes it's better to do nothing, like in this case.

Or are they buttering people up for an xsx version of Crackdown 3? Re-Cracked perhaps?

King_Noctis1470d ago (Edited 1470d ago )

So let me get this straight, you think they are wrong for giving out free games to gamers?Do they force you to download the game? Are the free games expired after a set amount of time? Do they force people to buy an SX version of the game if it comes out?

You know I have seen many stupid comments over the year on this site, and yours is nearly on the top of that list, no offense.

xX-oldboy-Xx1470d ago

No they're not wrong - have at it. Just not a very worthwhile gesture. The games are old, average at best going by people's comments.

Have a crack mate, don't hold back - you couldn't upset or offend me if you tried.

And if you didn't pick up, the second part of my comment was in jest. But you lit are very defensive about ms and their pro-consumer attitude these days.

Lighten up champ - gonna be a long gen ahead haha

Casepb1471d ago

Crackdown 1 was always free.

Yeah this, grabbed it like two years ago. Wish there was a way to play the X-enhanced version on PC

Stay at home initiative? Not everyone has Gamepass.

Ulf1471d ago

Crackdown 1 was a *great* game.

franwex1471d ago

Crackdown 1 was fun 13 years ago. Somewhat still fun today

Crackdown 2 sucks.

Crackdown 3 is like Crackdown 1, but with better graphics.

Play Crackdown 3. It’s a fun weekend game.

DARK_WOLF1471d ago

Crackdown 3 shouldv never existed. Of all the games microsoft couldve poured money into making they chose this.

Simply as a marketing game to show off their 'cloud' tech. Sure wasnt made for xbox fans but they tried to shove it down our throats for 5 years regardless.

No thanks.

Kribwalker1471d ago

agreed. crackdown 3 was a fun quick romp

Godmars2901471d ago

@DARK_WOLF:
CD3 exists as an attempt to showcase a version of cloud supported gaming. That said version fell apart is besides the point.

hamburgerhill1470d ago

I wish they would have just done a Crackdown 1 remake with extras instead of Crackdown 3. All those years wasted on a game that for me felt like anything but crack down.
